We have a fully functional outdoor kitchen, two compost toilets, a big swing, a trampoline and a slack line. Lots of land to walk and explore, many many wild and native medicinal herbs. This property is totally off grid. You can track wild boar, deer, wild turkeys and mountain lions, and listen to hermit thrush sing in the morning, hawks call during the day and owls hoot at night.
There are caretakers that live on the land. They have their own private area, but they are around. They fix things, work, tend to the land, improve structures and do their thing. Hello all! If you're looking for some glamping with creature comforts, while just being 10 minutes away from restaurants. This is the place for you. We are a 5 acre property and home surrounded by tall redwood and oak trees. Very green and lots of shade. These are the amenities/facilities you will have free access to: Pool, Pool chairs and umbrellas, Deck area with sunset view, trampolines (kids only), and hammocks.
Our check in window is strict: 3-6pm. Only later check in is allowed if discussed previously with host.
There is no cooking allowed by or at any of the common areas due to flies and critters. Cooking and eating is only allowed by your sites and not in any common areas: Hammocks, Trampolines, Pool Area, tables, sink, and deck please follow this rule because we want to prevent our shared areas to be fly and bug infested. We are still working on ridding the flies and cleaning. (please try to bring prepackaged food or something easy. If anything you can drive 10 minutes to nearby food and grocery).
THERE IS A 2-3 MINUTE HIKE TO THE CAMPSITES 1-5!
Poolside campsites are closer to the parking and are bigger.
This property is my home that I live in with my 2 kids. It is a rustic and homey vibe, definitely not a hotel. We want you to come knowing what to expect. Our property offers a pool and trampolines for the kids. We have a deck patio area that overlooks an amazing view of the redwood forest. Most of our guests are those that come from foreign countries and they all LOVE the property. I love leaving a great impression of our area.

The yurt was fantastic! Bridgette and Curtis were wonderful hosts and super responsive. The directions to the address were very clear and easy to navigate (especially since you’ll probably lose service) Bridgette greeted us upon arrival and left us some recommendations of where to spend our time in Santa Cruz. The yurt was homey and we enjoyed our time with our banana slug neighbors!!

Had a lovely time at the yurt, it was very relaxing and they provided everything necessary for a great stay :) The location was a bit hard to find, don't trust Google, but once there I was able to unwind; their neighbors were friendly and welcoming and it was a wonderful place to walk with my dogs. My favorite thing in the yurt was the CDs and CD player, for whatever reason it made me so happy to just put a CD on :)!
I would very much like to go back and am so thankful that they are so dog friendly!

SER was the escape I didn't know I needed!! The drive there was pretty good for no GPS. Every time I'd get to point of needing guidance, a small SER sign was there to guide me to the right place. Getting there it was very clean and each spot was marked with a parking spot and camp site.
Once settled it was so peaceful to listen to nature and be surrounded by the huge redwoods. I went exploring and found little signs along the short marked hiking trails. 10/10 recommend walking to the top to see a beautiful view of the surrounding area.
I would definitely recommend bringing a lot of lights, I ended helping a camper that didn't bring any. At night time there are quite a few critters out and about. I heard howling and an owl hooting, smelled a skunk nearby my tent, and ran into a family of deer when I went to the top to view the stars.
They have a wonderful big area for bigger camping parties and the smaller sites were perfect for solo campers or couples. Bathroom spots are clearly marked and actually clean! I would highly recommend this spot for a quick local get away that makes you feel like you are further away than you actually are.

My friends and I had a a great time staying at Double Bear! As we had a large group, we could rent out the entire property and it was super private. We could just hang out together and relax surrounded by nature. Mathilda was also very accommodating and even came up to the site in person to help check on a small issue we had. Overall a lovely experience.
The only possibly potential issue is the drive up the mountain to the site. While it is 2WD accessible I would highly recommend a 4WD or AWD car. The dirt road is narrow and uneven and it can be a bit steep at times. We were very happy to have borrowed a 4WD car as we were a bit worried that a smaller 2WD car might struggle.
But again, this stay was great! A great place to mostly disconnect and you can even see the stars at night!

We had a wonderful stay at Site 7! John was a fantastic host—incredibly kind and accommodating throughout our visit. Hearing the distant whistle of the Roaring Camp train was a lovely touch that the kids absolutely adored. Even though there’s only one bathroom on the property, it was never an issue or a wait, and it was always clean and spacious. The kids also loved the friendly visits from the resident dogs and cats. We couldn’t have asked for a better stay!

This Hipcamp has very welcoming and chill vibes! Ruth made coffee for us in the morning and we got great food recommendations. Seeing the stars through the trees at night was such a unique way to visit Santa Cruz as someone who primarily spent childhood summers crammed in a noisy boardwalk hotel. If you like camping with the convenience of a real bathroom and a pool, this is the place!
