Warm and inviting, Sage is a relaxing, modern spot for people heading up to Kirkwood for skiing or for nature, lakes, and fishing.
Our place offers a fully operational commercial style communal outdoor kitchen, a small stage, huge redwood, slab dining table, and 14 acres of camping area.
It also offers a beautiful 8 foot stock tank hot tub with the freshest clean snowpack water. So clean that it shares an aquifer with Crystal Geyser bottled water.
These are all communal spaces. Please keep this in mind when booking, and be prepared to meet some great folks. Be kind to one another and enjoy the experience.

Tent sites are next to the pear orchard. Choose any site. There is no need to meet with the host when you arrive. Follow the red arrows. Do not proceed the home located at 1071 Fruitridge. Look for the Hipcamp sign and red arrow markers and turn left into the orchard lane.
Location: Use google maps and locate 1071 Fruitridge Rd in Placerville, CA.
When you get to 1071, which is a house on the right side of the paved driveway, look for our Hipcamp sign in red, turn hard right into the orchard and follow the red arrows past a wood barn, and up to a small red shed. At this point you may camp in the meadow next to the shed or you may proceed to the next meadow over to the left (follow red arrows and look for umbrellas). We normally only have one site occupied per evening. Ocaisonally two sites will be occupied. The sites are very private and quiet as this is a large, private ranch.
You can park close to your tent site. 2WD / 4WD access weather permitting.
We offer 3 sites in a large meadow area. Max of 4 persons per site.
RV's welcome but we do not have hookups. RV's will be parked next to our barns surrounded by pear orchards.
Fresh drinking water is available in the tent meadow area.
Hot showers are now available at $10 extra per nite per site.
A gas BBQ is now available at a common area. Please don't move the BBQ.
Deer, wild turkeys, geese aplenty. Ample walking opportunities on our ranch and wild forestlands and amazing granite rock outcrops. Visit the South Fork of the American River (you can raft in summer!) Hunt for old gold mines on our place and, maybe, find some new ones! Go wine tasting very close by (Lava Cap, Madrone, Boeger) and visit Sutter's Mill in Coloma, where gold was discovered back in 1848.

Malaina was a super responsive, thoughtful and accommodating host! Absolutely a delight.
I've never slept in a more comfortable bed! The heater kept the space warm and cozy. The plush bathrobes and towels were a nice touch.
Just a shame we couldn't enjoy the property fully on our first day NYE (no fault of Malaina obviously). The heavy rain made it a pain to walk to the outhouse, use the kitchen area and sit by the fire pit. New Year's Day was perfect though and we welcomed the New Year with a nice, relaxing soak.
It is the perfect place to unwind, reflect, do minimal things (I did start to get a little stir crazy with the rain pounding on our roof). I'd recommend lots of reading materials, a lantern (one was provided) and more candles.

Malaina was a great host, respected our privacy and wow both my boyfriend and I were significantly impressed with the hot tub. Cool area to explore, malaina recommended a hike that gave a beautiful view of Lake New Malones. The bed was a comfy and there was a gate we could close off our space with for optimal privacy/comfort for puppy off leash. Thanks for a great adventure!

Weekend Trip to Joyful Heart
Malaina’s space was magical and Malaina was a fantastic, attentive host. We arrived a bit late and Malaina had started a fire and heated up the cabin for our arrival. The hot tub was a fun touch, the instant hot water was great, and we loved the outdoor shower! Perfect spot for a romantic, private getaway with spectacular stargazing and waking up to the birds singing.

We overall enjoyed camping at this very private orchard! There was a pond right next to us! We saw lots of wild animals including a flock of quails, deer, ducks, and turkeys! The showers were extra charge but we did enjoy the warm water and nice shower after being out in the wilderness. Only complaint is that the toilet and shower room has two big windows that do not have any privacy covering so we felt exposed. Also the door to the laundry room didn’t close all the way so someone could accidentally walk in on you while you’re doing your business or showering. We just ended up changing in the shower which at least had curtains. Otherwise, nice camping spot!

We absolutely love it there!! This was our second time and we plan on going back multiple times in the future. Malaina it is such an amazing host. She makes you feel right at home. It’s so comfortable there. The bed is super comfy and It’s so peaceful. The hot tub is amazing and the outdoor shower as well. We went in the winter and again in the summer and we will be back in the winter again. Definitely one of our favorite spots. We went Just one day and we feel so relaxed. Thank you Malaina!

This property is a hidden gem, it is so beautiful and Bobby is very welcoming. My husband and I were looking for a quick getaway for a night. Like the description says, bring you snacks. That’s exactly what we did, this spot has everything else you need. Everything from cooking on the open fire to the spa was a great experience. We will definitely be back for another glamping trip!

Awesome place in the heart of Apple Hill! Three ponds with plenty of fishing access (caught 11 in about an hour in the evening). It’s a pear farm with unlimited picking and a rich family history in California’s ecological transformation. WILL absolutely be returning even being from just down the hill in Sacramento. The graded area for camping isn’t huge but with just three sites it was more than private enough with fresh potable water, a huge bathroom within eyeshot and a perfect symphony of frogs and birds to fall asleep to. Only regret is staying only one night and not having enough time to explore all the massive property had to offer in just under two days. Total gem of a hipcamp, including the owners, and excited to return for even just another overnight. A stones throw from a big and little city with a lot of history. 10 out of 10 would recommend!

My Pine View lodge stay was over the top in many ways, lots of nice details to make you feel at home. There was everything needed to enjoy dinners on the deck, including a beautiful forest view along with peace and quiet. The host, Gary, kept in touch with suggestions for activities and dining out options. He was most gracious in his communications and very easy to work with on arrangements. An A+++ experience.

This is a very quiet, lovely spot among pear trees and nature. The bathroom is about 100 yards from the camping spot, and there is a spigot right at the camping spot.

This campsite was awesome! I did tent camping and Bobby has several secluded campsites to choose from. The communal area is beautiful, functional, and inviting. Bobby is an involved and friendly host. There’s a large fire pit and the commercial kitchen is great. This was the easiest camping I’ve ever done and I would absolutely come back again. This area is home to many fun hikes, lakes, and near a cool state park with a cave tour.

Great location. Trails right on the property. Went to bed listening to frogs and woke up to blackbirds singing. My dog LOVED running around and eating blackberries.
The listing says boating is possible but I didn't see any instructions so I didn't bother flipping the boat over. I also wasn't sure which spigot was potable but I brought enough water with me for the trip. Bathroom worked as expected and I used the utility sinks in the adjoining room to brush my teeth.
The maps link on the hipcamp message took me to the corner of Larsen and Carson 15 mins away, instead of Fruitridge so don't use that. The instructions I got for checking in said to go to the end of the paved road to the barn and text but that must be out of date. There's a hipcamp sign with arrows on the left side across from the first house. I was directed there after wandering around looking lost near the second house. 😅

Nice spot. Definitely give the place a positive review. Very dusty but the land owner did level the spot pretty well. Host was nice and personable when he stopped by. Toilets are real, but a bit of a hike. There are wild blackberries growing all over the place- watch for the thorns. They weren’t fully ripe, but the couple we had were still tasty.
So future campers can be prepared- There are a couple ponds right near the site. Flocks of geese have found them which is awesome until they take off honking their heads off at 5:30am. Those ponds are also major mosquito breeding grounds. There are fish, frogs and such in the ponds, but not enough to eat all the bugs. We ended up getting ourselves a thermacell mosquito repellent at the local hardware store. It did what it was supposed to, but it until we got that end of things taken care of, we got *lots* of bites.

Weekend Trip to Sage
We 10000% recommend staying here🤎🌲 if you’re looking for a place that feels straight out of a movie—dog friendly, peaceful, remote, and surrounded by nature singing around you.
From the moment we booked, Bobby was an amazing host—warm, attentive, and super communicative. He knew we wouldn’t have signal, so he made sure to be there right on time to guide us in.
When we arrived, he gave us a full tour and made it clear everything on the property was for us to enjoy. We felt welcome and at home every moment.
The open-air kitchen in the forest is pure magic, and it has everything you could ever need, from pans to spices. One of our favorite moments was connecting to his Spotify and playing our music while cooking under the trees.
There’s always a fire going— perfect for s’mores, deep talks and stargazing 💫
The place is incredibly dog-friendly🐶 We have two Australian Shepherds who were allowed off-leash the whole time. They had the best time!
During the day, we hiked and explored. At night, we soaked in the jacuzzi right outside our room—perfect temperature, peaceful vibes.
Before leaving, Bobby recommended Silver Lake to continue our adventure. And something really special—he helped me find a nature souvenir (a beautiful branch!) for my travel tradition.
Truly one of our most memorable stays. We’ll be back! Thank you, Bobby.
