We have a beautiful 45-acre slice of foothill forest-meets-town life to offer, with a glamping experience built around a Japanese bathhouse vibe and a lot of DIY determination. The yurt sits next to a "spa garden" a serene wellness area with a sauna, Japanese soaking tub (ofuro), garden nooks, and a Japanese bathhouse-style setup. Almost everything out here is host-built—even the bricks in the bathhouse were hand-hewn. Soak as long as you like, breathe the pine air, and let your nervous system de-frag. While the yurt and spa garden sit on the edge of a forest, you are still only about a 10-minute walk to Main Street Murphys—a ridiculously cute Gold Country town with tasting rooms, great food, indie shops, and a surprisingly legit live music scene. It's wine country, with small town energy. Maybe what Napa was like in the 60's? Because we sit right on the border of town and forest, you’ll get a real blend of sounds: wind in the trees, coyotes in the field and owl calls at night… plus the sounds of kids playing in the church yard and a dog down the way. It’s not deep-wilderness silent—more “edge-of-town retreat” quiet. For exploring, you can hike straight from the property up our hill—Rocky Hill, as locals know it. It’s a fun, scrambly wander with big views, and it also taps into the area’s Gold Rush history: you’ll find caves and old miner ruins along the way. Just steps away from your yurt, you’ll find a cedar sauna, a Japanese-style ofuro soaking tub, an outdoor shower, and fire pits. Park at the entrance; it’s an easy ~100-ft walk up a dirt lane. Wi-Fi, no TV. Guests have a private key and full private access to their yurt with its own firepit, garden, and outdoor cooking area. The spa area (sauna, ofuro, outdoor shower) is theirs to use at any time. Forest-edge setting with real-deal nature (you may hear coyotes at night). The bathroom is in a separate bathhouse ~20 ft from the yurt (quick outdoor stroll). Parking is at the property entrance with an easy ~100-ft walk up a dirt lane. Wi-Fi included, no TV. The outdoor spa area is a quiet, restful space and is available for use at anytime of day or night. We’ll review sauna/ofuro use at check-in. The neighborhood comes with typical rural charm - you might hear barking dogs nearby or kids playing down the street. The yurt is a little sanctuary on the cusp of rural life.
