Hawks Hideaway offers 8 campsites suitable for tents of all sizes, many of which can accommodate two or more tents (additional fees may apply). We also have a large, unfurnished teepee, and are working on a cozy, furnished country cottage. (ETA Sept 25). Large trailers and RVs are NOT allowed.
Nearby activities include: bird watching, hiking, river rafting or tubing, kayaking, fishing, swimming, stargazing, and rockhounding. This area conforms to the Arizona Dark Sky initiative, and while we are not dark-sky certified, we've had several guests compliment us on our beautiful skys. When it comes to rockhounding, or amateur geology, this is a fantastic area for exploration and study.
We gladly welcome pets, as long as you take care of all their needs, including cleaning up any mess and filling in any holes. Well mannered, friendly dogs may be unleashed from time to time. Please, PLEASE watch your small pets carefully. If you're traveling with cats, please keep them on a lead.
There is a riding academy and boarding facility adjacent to our property, and a long pleasant trail allows horseback riders, hikers and cyclists to travel along the Verde Greenway into Old Town Cottonwood, a pleasant 30 minute walk through lush riparian area.
Hawks Hideaway is a family owned property, occupied by a 3rd and 4th generation, mother-son team. Two generations have lived and died here before us and we are proud to be the custodians of this majestic property, full of old growth, gigantic cottonwood trees. A birdwatcher, or naturalists dream.
Hawks Hideaway is a natural and secluded spot located directly adjacent to the state-maintained Verde River Greenway. This means you may encounter wildlife and pests associated with being in such close connection to nature.
Hawks Hideaway is next to many miles of wilderness. You may see or encounter wildlife of all kinds, most are harmless, some are dangerous. It is your responsibility to know the difference. Be prepared to tuck your food away and bring ample protection from the insects.
You are responsible for your own safety and are camping here at you own risk. Please do not interact with any wild animals. If you encounter something and need help, please reach out to us. We live on the property and are readily available.

Site#1 has Full Hook Up - Running water, sewage RV Hookup of 30amp and 50amp electricity, for $45. Site#2 and Site#3 are side by side. They have running water and priced at $25. each. These two Sites are better for tents or a small trailer. A personal generator may be used but only during certain hours. These are lovely spots with shade trees, so pretty. There are lots of mature Juniper trees and some Pine trees that provide shade on the property. Often we experience a lovely breeze. We live a mile off of 260 on a rugged dirt road. We keep the Entrance Gate locked for safety and security.
We are located on 2 acres and have a garden and a green house where we grow a large variety of vegetables. We only accept trailers and fifth wheels of 21 feet or less on site #2 and #3. There is a Chicken House and a rooster and we have plenty of farm fresh eggs that are available to purchase.
0ur home is tucked away 1 mile off the 260 Hwy. on a rugged dirt road. First you will drive pass the Linden Valley Arena before reaching our property. The Arena was designed for ropers by ropers and is open from May thru September.
10-15 minute drive away is Fool Hollow lake, Show Low City Park, Safeway Grocery Store, Post Office, Library, and a variety of restaurants. Within that distance there is Boating, Fishing, Hiking, Picnic Areas, Large Dog Park, well equipped Playground area, Basketball Courts, Baseball fields, Sand Volley Ball, Tennis Courts, Racquet Ball Court, Horseshoe Pits, Disc Golf, Outdoor Exercise Stations, Walking Trail, Pavilions, Restrooms all the while enjoying the enormous, plentiful Ponderosa Pines. Show Low City Park Aquatic Center has 6 lane 25-yard pool with an adjoining leisure pool featuring zero-depth entry, Spray Fountain, Water Slide, Indoor Spa.
Show Low was named by the turn of a Card. A ranch of nearly 100,000 acres jointly owned by Marion Clark and Croydon Cooley a U.S. army scout. According to legend, sometime around 1876, the partners decided that there was not enough room for both of them
and one of them should leave. They decided to settle this issue over a game of "Seven Up" (with the winner taking the ranch and the loser leaving.) After the game seemed to have no winner in sight the game reached it's climax when
Clark said, "If you can show low, you win." At this point
Cooley turned up the deuce of clubs, and declared "Show Low" it is! Show Low
is a city in Navajo County, Arizona
among the lush green ponderosa pine forestland and along Arizona's Mogollon Rim at an elevation of 6,345 feet. Show Low is now the largest city in the White Mountains of northeastern Arizona. Show Low is also the business hub and marketing center of the area.

That's pretty awesome if you ask us. Picacho truly calls to all hardy adventurers. It was a gold mining town with 100 citizens more than a century ago.
This park offers rugged desert mountains, colorful canyons, and the Colorado River. Keep an eye out for beavertail cactus, wild burros, the famous bighorn sheep and thousands of migratory birds. Hike through the mountains to see great views from above. Dip your line in the Colorado River to catch your dinner.

What a beautiful and welcoming space. Gary and Daren were incredible hosts. Greeted upon arrival with a tour of the space. Beautiful views and countless amenities. The outdoor shower with Mountain View was exactly what i needed after my drive.
The stargazing was absolutely breathtaking. Coffee, fresh eggs and countless other wonderful things complimentary with your stay.
I’m sad I was only there one night and couldn’t explore more but I absolutely will be back.

Always a great experience. This is my 3rd time visiting. I was here for watching a meteor shower. The dark sky community there enabled me to get my star gazing fix and its always a pleasant visit. Rick and Cathy are wonderful, blessed souls. We lucked out finding them. The spot was great. Full hookups amongst the trees, vegetable garden, and the cutest goats. Our stay could not have been better.

A fun space to camp with plenty of flat spots for your tent.
Though, a couple notes: it’s more public than you would expect with 6-8 homes/trailers that have clear line of site to you on the hilltop. We arrived in the dark and had a hard time finding our spot bc the sign that is pictured in the listing wasn’t there…turn left when you see the port-a-john.

Very nice flat ground for tents and a porta potty the perfect distance — not too close to smell or have other people walking through my campsite but just enough privacy. Two great picnic tables and climbable trees for the adventurer. She provided great instructions and was quick to reply. There were a lot of flies and mosquitoes, but you get that with camping by a creek. The creek was dark brown so we didn’t swim, but it was close to a rainstorm during monsoon season, so it was understandable. Overall really great!

2 nights at Sacred Springs-Private creek access
The experience at Sacred Springs was amazing.
To be able to able to spend time with our family in a place so well taken care of and cared for was great. I will value our time spending a day together at the creek with plenty to do. Gary & Daren are amazing hosts that make sure your time there is the best it can be.

I really loved my stay at Sacred Springs. The campground was very clean and well organized. The amenities were great. Gary and Daren really thought of everything that you would need to have a great experience. And that is just the campsites. That doesn’t include the actual Sacred Springs. It is like a whole other world down below the campground. I was able to hike the many trails and enjoy the wonderful variety of birds like a pair of black hawks to the Gila woodpeckers. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to enjoy getting into any of the water due to recent rains, but they were beautiful nevertheless. If you are a light sleeper you will definitely want to use ear plugs like Gary and Daren suggest since IH-17 is so close, but it is a small inconvenience considering how cool the whole place is. I really hope to get back to Sacred Springs sooner that later. Thanks Gary and Daren!

Beautiful site! It rained the day that I arrived which I was not expecting—you definitely need a footprint if it rains (I didn’t have mine), but outside of that, it was a lovely site. Highly recommend it.

The campsite was very clean and very well set up. It was a very quiet area as well. There was quite a bit of shade, which was great. The short hike to the falls and river was nice. It was very private and we were the only ones there the two hours we were playing and swimming. I would definitely camp there again.

If you’re even thinking about booking with Gary and Daren, do it. They are, without question, some of the best hosts we’ve ever had.
We stayed at both their Hipcamp site and their VRBO, and everything exceeded our expectations. Their property is absolutely beautiful, with private creek access that makes it the perfect place to relax after a day of exploring. Whether you want a peaceful retreat or an adventure-filled trip, this is an incredible home base.
Gary and Daren go above and beyond in every possible way. They have fantastic recommendations for hiking, restaurants, and exploring Sedona, and their local knowledge made our trip so much better. In fact, I’m pretty sure Gary saved me from becoming one with the Arizona desert when he insisted I borrow one of his umbrellas before we headed out on a trail. I laughed at first…then spent the entire hike incredibly grateful for his advice! That umbrella made all the difference.
Their hospitality is truly unmatched. They think of everything, they genuinely care that you have a wonderful stay, and somehow they even managed to do our dishes. It’s the kind of thoughtful, effortless kindness that makes you feel less like a guest and more like a friend.
Gary and Daren have created something really special here. We left feeling refreshed, well cared for, and already talking about our next trip back. If you’re visiting Sedona or anywhere nearby, don’t hesitate—this is the place you want to stay.

We stayed here because we wanted to visit Sedona. Beautiful trees and garden, great views, close to Cottonwood but 100% in nature , kids loved the horses on the ranch, lots of shade and the proximity to the ancient puoblo ruins are great. Vicky showed us true hospitality. Thanks!

This is my go-to Hipcamp spot, and there’s a reason I keep coming back! The property offers the perfect amount of tree shade, keeping the sites nice and cool. It is incredibly quiet and peaceful, making it a true escape. Close to town and a couple of great bars and restaurants. The host and owner are fantastic—so friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend!

We usually camp in Sedona every year due to the current fire we had to find something last minute, We were very fortunate to find Vicky's Camping site, the Porta pottys were clean and my kids were happy to not have too do their business in a bathroom tent :)
