Our location is mid-way between Ash Fork and Seligman, AZ off of Route 66.
It is pristine juniper covered land in every direction at 5200'+ elevation with incredible Northwest Arizona mountain and valley views. If you're looking to enjoy the off-grid camping experience, come stay a night or 2 on "The 40 on Rte. 66." During new moon times, the sky is full of stars and the Milky Way is easily visible. During full moon times, the trees and ground are lit up in all directions. Sightings of deer and jackrabbits are common as well as hearing coyotes in the distance. Being open range land, the cattle will wander into sight. Various cacti and desert plants around the campsites. Nearby Route 66 attractions include Ash Fork, Seligman and Williams. Grand Canyon National Park is approx. 1.5 hours away. We are along the longest remaining un-interrupted sections of Route 66.
We have several improved camp sites to make your stay easier; however, there are plenty of unmarked and unimproved areas within the Hipcamp area for you to stay. This is our land but you are welcomed to camp your way. All are welcomed. 420 friendly. Please be respectful of your fellow Hipcampers.

The road to the property is about 0.8 miles and is considered dirt rugged. It will require you to so down under 5 miles an hour in a few places. You have the entire road to travel on and maneuver around the big bumps. I drive my car to the property ever time and don't have an issue if I slow down and go around large holes. If there is a recent storm in the area the road could be difficult to navigate.

When it comes to rockhounding, or amateur geology, this is a fantastic area for exploration and study.
We gladly welcome pets, as long as you take care of all their needs, including cleaning up any mess and filling in any holes. Well mannered, friendly dogs may be unleashed from time to time. Please, PLEASE watch your small pets carefully. If you're traveling with cats, please keep them on a lead.
There is a riding academy and boarding facility adjacent to our property, and a long pleasant trail allows horseback riders, hikers and cyclists to travel along the Verde Greenway into Old Town Cottonwood, a pleasant 30 minute walk through lush riparian area.
Hawks Hideaway is a family owned property, occupied by a 3rd and 4th generation, mother-son team. Two generations have lived and died here before us and we are proud to be the custodians of this majestic property, full of old growth, gigantic cottonwood trees. A birdwatcher, or naturalists dream.
Hawks Hideaway is a natural and secluded spot located directly adjacent to the state-maintained Verde River Greenway. This means you may encounter wildlife and pests associated with being in such close connection to nature.
Hawks Hideaway is next to many miles of wilderness. You may see or encounter wildlife of all kinds, most are harmless, some are dangerous. It is your responsibility to know the difference. Be prepared to tuck your food away and bring ample protection from the insects.
You are responsible for your own safety and are camping here at you own risk. Please do not interact with any wild animals. If you encounter something and need help, please reach out to us. We live on the property and are readily available.

Tons of activities will keep you occupied, including hiking and biking on the nearby Arizona Trail (just 1/2 mile away), or even sledding on your very own private 2 acre piece of paradise! What's even better is the property backs onto the National Forest, for unlimited enjoyment of nature. In the evening crack open a book, or start playing a game with your besties to close out a long day. The property is completely off the grid, making it very appealing to those travelers and adventurers who want to create a minimal carbon footprint on their vacation. The kitchen sink has a hand pump that draws water from under the sink from a 10 gallon water jug. You can refill the jug as needed from a hand pump located in the back yard. There is solar powered lighting and a USB phone charger station. There is no electrical power available. Cell service is available in the area depending on your carrier. The outdoor composting toilet is super clean with little or no odor. The cabin is located at 8200' in the San Francisco Peaks in the pines and aspens. Snowshoe or cross country ski, go sledding or snowmobiling, or just good old fashioned relaxation will make the time fly by. The property sits approximately 1-2 miles off a dirt road, accessible for most vehicles, though all-terrain or higher-clearance rigs are recommended. Motorhomes and trailers can reach the site, but expect a bumpy, adventurous ride.

Off-grid without being remote. About 8 minutes from a small nearby town on county-maintained roads (when they get around to it). It’s generally very quiet here, though you may occasionally hear quads and trucks passing through.
Wildlife is abundant: elk, mule deer, antelope (two species), coyotes, jackrabbits, cottontail rabbits, and ground squirrels are often seen. Hiking, mountain biking, off-roading, horseback riding, and recreational shooting are available in the National Forest about half a mile down the road. Horse boarding is also available.
The Corral gas station is a local meeting spot with a small sitting area and community bulletin board.
When people wave at you, they’re not mistaking you for someone else—wave back. Folks are very friendly here.
The sleepy town of Ash Fork on historic Route 66 (8 minutes by car) has a few interesting shops, a museum, two local restaurants, a truck stop with fast food, and local mechanics who keep everyone moving. Ash Fork is known as the Flagstone Capital of America—or the World, depending on who you ask.
Relax and surf the web at the air-conditioned local library, a key community hub and package pickup location. And yes, there’s a bar—its claim to fame is a giant teakwood elephant head. If petting a teakwood elephant is on your bucket list, you’re in luck.
Your campsite location is up to you. Choose a shaded or open spot depending on your preference. Tent sites are served by a porta-potty. Several water fill locations are available, and we keep a few hundred gallons on site for refills. There is a dump station in town for RVs.
Most importantly, someone will be within shouting distance if needed.
Please note this is a working ranch. Dogs must be leashed, tethered, or under direct control at all times. Do not approach livestock—free-range animals can be protective and should be respected at a distance.

The hostess was super cool, be cool and respectful. I made a last minute reservation after finding the road to my property impassable. She responded quickly and has a great place to park with room to maneuver bigger rigs. She has 30amp power and potable water and she allows a pet. The property sits between Dewey and Humbolt, 1 mile to Dewey about 5 minutes to Humbolt and 15 to Prescott Valley. Eventhough off main rd to I17, I found it very quiet once it got dark. Thank you Emily, it was a nice respite after 2 long days on the road,.....and off the road, no pun intended, lol!

this is an absolutely beautiful and rustic cabin set among pines and aspens! The national Forest is your backyard!
If you want to get away and disconnect, this is the perfect place. The spacious front porch was where we spent most of our time, reading books and talking. Having morning coffee on the front porch as I watched the birds and felt the breezes coming through the Aspen was heavenly.. This is a very small community and it’s all off grid which appealed to us.. We love to hike and it was a 20 minute walk to the Arizona trail head. We hiked for two hours and did not see one person. The neighbors in this small community are friendly and helpful. All of the lots are about 2.5 acres.. the speed limit is 10 mph and there were no cars or ATVs racing up and down the hardened dirt road. In my mind, it is a little piece of heaven. Stargazing is wonderful. We did not mind using a hand pump at the kitchen sink. This is a vintage experience for those who want to get away from civilization. The owner is very responsive to text when we had questions. If you are looking for a peaceful Retreat, this is the place.

Very nice flat ground for tents and a porta potty the perfect distance — not too close to smell or have other people walking through my campsite but just enough privacy. Two great picnic tables and climbable trees for the adventurer. She provided great instructions and was quick to reply. There were a lot of flies and mosquitoes, but you get that with camping by a creek. The creek was dark brown so we didn’t swim, but it was close to a rainstorm during monsoon season, so it was understandable. Overall really great!

Amazing clear & level areas for setting up camp. Fire pits ready to go, path areas to walk around on the property. Very nicely set up! I came to view night skies - the silence out here is glorious.
Bonus—-Cliff has a number of things available if you have forgotten/need anything.
This was my first hipcamp booking. Testing the waters with traveling alongside my pup. He LOVED it.

Jeannie’s place was an easy place to stay while we were in Flagstaff for a couple of days. It is walking distance to downtown and in a very walkable neighborhood. It was very private. Although our trailer was just about a foot from their house, we were aware that they were coming and going but we never interfaced .
