Meadview Arizona was founded in 1826 by Jedediah Smith on his Southwest Expedition in search for Beaver! Staying a small remote and quiet town it can feel like it would have in the Wild West.
We obtained our campground from a couple that owned it for 20 years but just weren't able to do to it what they had originally planned.. So it was essentially a blank canvas for us to create!! We are the closest town to the Grand Canyon SKYWALK, which is just 40 minutes from us. Meadview, the town we are located, is the only place to obtain Free Entree to the Lake Mead Recreational Center. Our Campground just 10 miles from Lake Mead and 17 Miles from the Colorado River. We have outstanding Lookouts, Top notch Stargazing, Gold Prospecting, Bird Watching, Fishing, Off Roading etc.
Some of the Best Desert Off-Roading through trails within the Joshua Tree National Forest, Please note you must bring your own OHV, horse, etc, there is currently no rentals available. We do have Kayaks to rent upon arrival. There is a hidden water fall in the Grapevine Wash that you can get to with a 4 wheel vehicle and you hike in about 15 minutes in. Stunning views and gorgeous natural spring and waterfall.
We are 45 minutes off the 93 Freeway
Free WIFI provided at the office!.. The town doesn't always have a powerful signal, please keep that in mind in your travels. However, if you have Verizon, it gets GREAT service!
There are three restaurants in town, all just one mile from site... The Boathouse, Anchor Smokehouse and Fishermans Landing Bar. We have a Bakery called Rosemary and Thyme that serves Delicious foods & Pastries and makes great coffees. There is also a Gas n Grub that has ice, propane etc... 5 miles away is a Family Dollar store which we lovingly call the "Mall of Meadview"

Red Rock Canyon is 16 miles away. Many of our guests enjoy the scenic beauty or climbing opportunities in Red Rock. Nevada's newest state park, Ice Age Fossils State Park, is just a few miles away and offers a glimpse into prehistoric time in the region. If you enjoy ziplining then check out Slotzilla at Fremont Street or on the Las Vegas strip at the LINQ.

Jeffry’s Farm was a very convenient location for our needs. It is under a flight path, but we found this not to be a problem. Evenings were fairly peaceful and we actually enjoyed watching the planes come in during the day. Parking area was fairly flat and easy to get in and out of. We would stay here again if in the area.

Pleasantly surprised by how well organized, secure, and clean this park was. The office staff accepts mail and packages. The entrance is staffed 24/7. Yes, it's asphalt with fairly snug sites but it's an urban park so get used to it. But there are lots of palm trees to green things up and several dog runs plus a big public dog park not 2 miles away.

If your concern is having a quiet and peaceful RV park in Vegas that also has 24/7 security, this is it. When my wife and I were there, we actually left the RV for over 24 hours while we watched the sunset in Santa Monica. Not once did I feel the need to check the security systems in place on the RV. When we came back later on (1 am) the security guard on duty stood right up and ready. A pretty safe and quiet place. The price is actually good with all hookups and being in Vegas as well. Think we paid $45 daily for out 23ft RV? Planned on staying 2 nights and we stayed 5 instead. Not bad at all.

Happy Trails is a beautiful place with. Great view of the canyon. The people that maintain the place are very cool, it’s a great little community. There is a common area to meet up with other travelers, which was a great opportunity to learn where to see sites that are not so ‘touristy’. I highly recommend. Say hi to Dave for me. 🙂

What a great spot! I can’t guarantee this place enough as a jumping off or landing pad for a Grand Canyon trip. The RV hookups are easy to find and use. The full working bathroom was an added bonus. Arrival instructions were super clear. No issues the entire stay, but the hosts were available for questions and helpful.

Leo’s land was perfect for our last night after a long two weeks of dispersed camping. There was a fire pre-made just waiting to be lit, and Leo offered us coffee and hot chocolate the following morning. Leo was easy to talk to, and gave us some great recommendations for a future trip! We had a great stay at Leo’s place. He was a wonderful host! The spot was very large, well maintained and level with easy access to all hookups. Leo had a fire pit with all of the wood for fires throughout our stay, it was a great touch.
Leo has chickens on his property and allowed our children to go over each day and help to feed and care for them, it really made the kids feel special and was such a great experience for them.
We would absolutely recommend anyone to go and stay with Leo while in Vegas.

It was wonderful camping. close enough to civilization that I didn't have to worry if I forgot something, but far enough away that it was quiet all weekend - unless you don't like the sound of coyotes singing, and dark enough to sit out, watch the sunset, and enjoy a nice pour of Weller C.Y.P.B.. My trailer is 22 feet, so I would pull in, and still unhook, giving me a great view of the mountains.
Some weekends, I just need to get away from the house and all the stuff, and I will certainly look for this spot.

Overview
About
Valley of Fire State Park lives up to its name, with a dramatic sandstone landscape that looks as if it’s been set ablaze. Located in the Mojave Desert, just 50 miles northeast of Las Vegas and six miles from the Lake Mead National Recreation Area, Valley of Fire offers 40,000 acres of cliffs, slot canyons, and other surreal terrain. Keep an eye out for ancient petroglyphs, petrified logs, birds, and other wildlife. Two campgrounds with shaded picnic tables, water spigots, and fire rings allow RV and tent campers to comfortably spend the night surrounded by red sandstone rock formations, with a night sky to rival the daytime vistas.
Notable campgrounds
- Best for RV camping: Atlatl Rock Campground offers 44 sites, including RV sites with electric and water hookups, hot showers, restrooms with flush toilets, and a dump station.
- Best for tent camping: Set in a scenic spot with more limited amenities, Arch Rock Campground offers 29 smaller sites and has vault toilets.
- Best for group camping: Three group areas available by reservation only can accommodate up to 45 people.
Tips for snagging a campsite
- Plan to arrive as early as possible. All of the regular campsites are first-come first-served, and are quite popular. Increase your chances of grabbing a spot by getting to the campgrounds early.
- Try for a spot at the Arch Rock Campground first. Since the sites here are more primitive, they are usually the last to fill up.
- Try visiting in the winter or summer. Just be prepared for the temperature extremes and note that only Atlatl Rock Campground is open year round.
When to go
Spring and fall are the best times to visit and camp at Valley of Fire State Park. Wildflowers also bloom in the park in the spring. The weather in summer can be brutally hot, with temperatures regularly topping 100°F. Temperatures in the winter can reach freezing, though it rarely snows. The Arch Rock Campground is often closed during the off-season, when there are limited visitors.
Know before you go
- Bring everything you will need with you. The park is in a remote area with only a small gift shop. It’s best to pick up supplies in Las Vegas or Overton.
- The park has very limited shade. Try to time your exploration for the early morning or evening. Bring a hat and wear sun protection, and drink plenty of water.
- Cell phone coverage is non-existent in most of the park, with the exception of the two entrances, visitor center, and White Domes. You can purchase wifi.
- Don’t forget your camera. Top photo spots include Fire Wave, the Beehives, Rainbow Vista, and Elephant Rock. Bird watchers should also bring their binoculars along.
- Rock climbing is only available in certain areas. Check with a ranger for the latest updates.

Just wanted to mention that this campground does now take reservations through https://reservenevada.com/ I'm not sure when it changed, just be ready and book ahead! I'm lucky I caught the change, almost drove out here and I would've been disappointed to find I could get a spot!

Valley of Fire is a hidden gem of the West. While en route to hit all 5 of Utah's NP's last march, we spent a night here at Arch Rock. Just the color and texture of these rocks will blow you away, and setting up your camp site below some incredible rock spirals will be sure to get you antsy to climb and explore them. Pair all of these traits with a lack of crowds and Valley of Fire is an experience you will never forget.

We were on our way from San Diego to Zion with two awesome kids, an incredibly awesome 9y.o. retriever and a surprisingly awesome 4 week old puppy but despite an early departure on a Monday, traffic got the best of us and it was after 10pm by the time we limped through Vegas.
I had some Plan B's, one of which was the Valley of Fire.
This was the middle of July, so there were not many brave souls out there at that time, but still we crept in as quietly as we could. We took the first available site, but the heat soon led my wife on a walk to see if there were any sites with hookups.
We found one and awoke to a jaw dropping landscape and an immaculate campground. We only stayed long enough for a brief hike, but we WILL be back!

Love the rock formations all around (and in!) this campground. Picnic tables at every site with shade covering. Easy to walk around and scramble up on rocks. We had no problem finding a first-come, first-served site on a Sunday afternoon.

Absolutely love this campground. Drive through for the best spots hidden up in the rock formations. This park is beautiful and there are many places to scramble among the rocks and take some beautiful photos. Nice showers available at the other campground in the park as well.
