Epic Van-RV-Tent Camp 40 mins Zion

20 sites 路 Lodging, RVs, Tents3 acres 路 AZ
Did you know there's a secret new cut through road to Zion National Park from our area which makes us 40 mins away!? We offer one of the coolest, safest, cleanest and most popular boutique campgrounds in the region. Zion is the 3rd most visited park in the US, so when we had an opportunity to purchase property in a rural area outside of the park, we jumped on it. Our space is 3 stunning acres just off the paved road surrounded by hundreds of acres in all directions that are empty cattle fields and BLM land. You can literally hike into the hills from our property. We have 3 water and power hook ups that are ideal for vans or small trailer/RVs. WE DO NOT HAVE A SEPTIC DUMP on site but one close by that is free. We have shade structures, a BBQ area, a propane firepit (no wood fires in summer please! too dry). Propane is a $5 per use additional fee daily via Venmo if you want to use the firepit or the BBQ. We purchased the property from a family down the road and they have helped us develop out the piece we have. Currently we park a trailer on it that we rent out, plus we have 1 glamp tent, 1 little cabin, 1 camping platform and a few areas for tents and vanlifers to pull up! We have a group site with it's own kitchen/BBQ area. There's a bath house with 2 flushing toilets an outhouse and an outdoor heated shower. We also have a great outdoor kitchen with everything you need to cook a great meal! Stove, pots and pans, dishes, etc! Our property is 40 minutes to Springdale with a secret locals cut through. We are 20 minutes away from Coral Pink Sand Dunes state park (you can rent sand boards there) 25 minutes to Hurricane. We are 5 minutes away from a great grocery store (Bee's Market) with EVERYTHING! Just past that is a great microbrewery and pizza place called Edge of the World. Basically you get the quiet and dark skies at night, which are perfect for camping, but creature comforts of a bathroom, outdoor shower, Wifi, firepits and BBQ. We have cool art, horseshoe put, an outdoor kitchen with stove and all the cooking utensils and pots and accessories you need! Hot water is really hot! We have 2 kitchens!! Land Beyond Zion is available for group rentals and great if you are trying to plan a camp out with numerous people, but struggling to find a campground that will accommodate. We are kid friendly, dog friendly, BIPOC, LGBTQ and senior friendly. We are not an RV park but can accommodate some smaller rigs, so reach out to us if you are interested in staying. We have room for a skoolie if it's the right size! Up to 24-26 feet vans and skoolies. Inquire if your rig is bigger. DOGS IMPORTANT!!! If you have a dog we ask that you please keep it near you at all times. If there are other dogs on the property you will need to leash up dogs. Also, please walk the property and pick up poop!!! We ask for a $10 fee for dogs. Please pay to our venmo (@shantihodges) Please respect that we increase prices for more people in your group as this has impact on our space. We only have so many showers, bathrooms and space for all and we like to not get super crowded. Children are the exception, but please let us know how many folks are in your group when you reserve. If. Thank you!

You will never experience another 鈥済olden hour鈥 like the one you experience while at Camp Joy. Our mission is to share the 鈥淛oy鈥 of making unforgettable memories in the mountains with friends and family. Happy Travels! Camp Joy at Kolob FAMOUS HIKES AND TRAILHEADS LOCATED BY CAMP JOY: The "Kolob Terrace" is a lesser-traveled section of Zion, accessible via the Kolob Terrace Road that heads north from the town of Virgin. The drive through the Terrace up to Lava Point offers a good sampling of wondrous views, from golden valleys to the majestic North and South Guardian Angels high in distance. The Kolob Terrace is home to one of the most popular canyons in Zion: the Left Fork of North Creek, aka. "the Subway." WEST RIM TRAIL NORTHGATE PEAKS TRAIL THE SUBWAY WILDCAT CANYON TRAILHEAD HOP VALLEY TRAILHEAD THE CONNECTOR TRAIL HOODOO CITY GRAPEVINE TRAIL LANGSTON CANYON AND LANGSTON MOUNTAIN Brief history of Camp Joy: Camp Joy is a small parcel of land given to my grandmother and her sisters by my paternal great grandfather. It was part of a larger, 2,500 acre parcel that has been used for grazing sheep the last 100 or so years. As was common in those days, the male heir inherited the larger portion to continue the family business of sheep, and the three females inherited 1 acre each. My paternal grandmother fondly recalls spending her summers exploring the flora and fauna and staying overnight in a small cabin that they called 鈥淐amp Joy.鈥 My father, also used to visit this area during his youth and has many fond memories of when the family would 鈥淗ie to Kolob.鈥 My grandmother, being too old to enjoy the place herself, wanted to sell her portion to someone who would be able to enjoy it in this life. She didn鈥檛 believe in restricting access to the wonderful and uniquely awe inducing land surrounding Zion National park. She knew humans are just mere stewards , temporarily living off the land that Mother Nature has so generously provided for. My father and mother also shared this vision so (with his sisters/cousins permission) he purchased her share and the two adjoining lots that were owned by his aunts and combined them so we could have a place to park our trailers in the summertime. The advent of the internet and the resurgence of people wanting to go somewhere with their families to experience the peace and tranquility one can only find in the wilds, led us to feel that sharing this slice of heaven was not only economical but the right thing to do. So much of Kolob and the surrounding areas are marked off by private property, owners who aren鈥檛 even there to enjoy it 99% of the time. So we felt divinely called to offer our humble slice of heaven to likeminded individuals, seeking tranquility and peace but for some cosmic reason didn鈥檛 stand to inherit private property in the middle of one of the most beautiful places on earth. So welcome friend. We only ask, as you leave this place, to please bring with you this spirit of abundance and joy to wherever you call home.

The best camping near The Narrows guide

For adventurers who thrive on unique experiences, camping near The Narrows offers an unparalleled journey into Zion's grandeur. Tucked within Zion National Park, The Narrows stands as the most slender section of Zion Canyon. With imposing walls that soar to a thousand feet and the river narrowing down to a mere twenty to thirty feet at places, this gorge is a testament to nature's artistic prowess. Starting from the Temple of Sinawava, a paved, wheelchair-accessible Riverside Walk stretches for a mile, offering visitors a glimpse of The Narrows. But for those with a thirst for more, the real adventure lies ahead. Venturing further means stepping into the Virgin River, where the absence of a trail ensures that every step is an intimate dance with nature. Whether you choose to wade upstream for a short while or embark on an all-day exploration, the experience is bound to be unforgettable. The Narrows camping experience is more than just setting up a tent; it's about immersing oneself in an environment where the majestic walls of the canyon echo tales of time, and the gentle flow of the Virgin River whispers secrets of the ages. Many campers initiate their journey from the Temple of Sinawava, trekking upstream to drink in the sights before retracing their steps downstream. Camping near The Narrows is not just about witnessing one of Zion National Park's most famed attractions; it's about forging a bond with nature, one step at a time.

When to go

The ideal time to venture into The Narrows is during summer and early fall, when the water is warm and levels are lower, offering easier navigation. However, always be vigilant of flash flood risks, especially during monsoon season. Winter and early spring present challenges with cold, high waters, making it less ideal for exploration.

Know before you go

  • Check the current conditions and flash flood potential before your hike to ensure safety.
  • Wear appropriate non-cotton clothing and closed-toed shoes for traversing the river.
  • Accessibility varies; the Riverside Walk is wheelchair accessible, but The Narrows hike requires wading in water.
  • Be prepared for cooler temperatures in the canyon, even on hot days.
  • Respect the park by using restrooms before your hike and packing out all trash.
