We had a great time at Russell’s cottage! The surrounding red rock cliffs are absolutely stunning and even seemed to convert my fiancé who historically had not understood my love of the desert. Just up the road is a trail that will take you up the slope to the nearest cliff. The cottage itself looks rustic and fits into the landscape beautifully, but is actually packed with just about every amenity you could want, even for those unfamiliar with the outdoors (heat, A/C, internet, indoor and outdoor showers, fridge, toaster oven, gas stove top, outdoor gas and coal grills and cooking setups for the fire pit, sauna). However, I think even more striking than the convenience and the thoughtfulness Russell has put into stocking the cottage is the care he took in building it. We really enjoyed just looking around to try to identify all the creative uses of reclaimed items, because they were all so artistically and coherently integrated that they felt seem less. The cottage was also incredibly clean, and seemed to, almost without fail, have everything exactly where you would want it. Want to sit and watch the sunset, turn around there’s a chair right behind you waiting. My only minor criticism, if you can even call it that, is that there is no freezer, so just be aware if you are doing a multi-day trip. However there is an incredibly well stocked grocery store only a 10 minute drive away (though, be aware that, despite listing hours as MST, they actually seem to observe MDT).
We absolutely loved our stay. Everything we could need was provided. The home is unbelievably beautiful and comfortable. We used the steam sauna on the last night and couldn't be more thankful. The neighbors are amazing! There very kind and welcoming was a very well loved added bonus. We can not thank Russell enough for opening this space for us and others to enjoy.
Russell's space was perfect for what my boyfriend and i were looking for on our cross country road trip.
We picked up groceries in Kanab, made fire, cooked and ate outside, stargazed/witnessed meteors and slept in. The space was perfect for the two of us and our dog and i couldnt recommend staying here more!
Russell also gave us fantastic recommendations/ responded quickly to any and all questions that came up. We are super grateful for the experience and would 10/10 stay again.
Russell is a very caring host with a great place to stay. The rustic atmosphere at the Gypsy Cottage was a perfectly relaxing end to our road trip out west.

The cottage was incredibly cute with a stunning view. Russell is a very easy going host, which I appreciated so much. The property felt very safe
Our family couldn’t get over how cute this cabin was! There were so many charming and creative details. It definitely has a rustic feel, but never once felt cheap or thrown together. It is all so well constructed and intentional. A cute little gas cook top that functioned perfectly, convection oven, fridge, AC, fire pit, 2 showers, amazing views… We definitely plan to stay again and Russel was great and so easy to work with. 10 out of 10. We were honestly surprised he didn’t charge more for it.

Gypsy’s Cottage
Return customer. Loved the place. Sauna, camp fire and the dogo can roam free. Not to mention the awesome starry sky.
We loved our stay at Gypsy cottage, we only wish we could've stayed longer :). The cottage was in great shape and super creative. All amenities we could've needed! Sadly we were just passing through after the Grand Canyon, but would gladly stay again for a short escape and hiking.
This was our second time at this incredible spot. We actually cooked inside a lot this time, and it was such a joy using the camping stove and lovely convection oven. Plus, of course, the campfire! We stayed two nights this time and we were so thankful.
Thank you Russell! We can’t wait for next time.
The place was amazing. We loved all the little details in the place, the quietness, being able to see the stars, and the sauna. Russell was attentive and caring in answering all our questions and a wonderful host. I look forward to coming back. I would highly recommend checking the place out. It’s close to many cool places.

What a beautiful cottage with great character! This was such a unique spot with beautiful mountain views. It was close to so many cool spots, and Russell has a binder in the cottage with many of the options— we even found a spot we hadn’t known about to visit! (The Sand Caves— what a cool spot and a quick, easy hike).

Gypsy’s cottage is more than just a place to rest your head, it’s an experience. It is so beautifully crafted and has all the amenities you would ever need and so much more! I never expected heat and warm water, and not to mention the sauna! what a delight in the winter temps! I loved looking at all the details taking it all in. The afternoon light gave it such a beautiful glow. I highly recommend a stay here! Easily one of the best Hipcamps I have experienced.

Loved it! All amenities provided, not to mention the sauna. It was the perfect escape from civilization.
The Gypsy cabin is such a gem! Places like this I’ll remember forever. The sauna was such a great bonus!
I really loved my time at the Gypsy King cottage! What a beautiful and well thought out space to stay in. Russell was a very good host and communicated promptly when I reached out to him. The cabin and the property is so peaceful absolutely gorgeous! I hope to come back and stay for longer next time. I didn’t have the time to try the sauna. My dog loved the fenced in yard and made good friends with the neighbors adorable blue and red heelers!

Russell’s cottage matches the photos, clean while also cozy. The cob structure is really beautiful, and fire wood provided was so nice. A wood fired sauna is a treat and an outdoor bath, looking towards the Big Dipper was very special! This is a precious place to stay, and there’s lots of incredible hiking, climbing, and mountain biking with an hour drive. Also the neighbor dogs came to visit which we loved. Thank you Russell and hope to visit again sometime.

We loved this place so much. It’s clear from the first interaction that Russell truly cares about his guests enjoying their time at his thoughtful place. We cannot wait to return as soon as possible!
All I can say is wow! Our experience staying at this cottage was everything we could have wanted it to be and more. The views cannot be overstated, the bed was so cozy, and the cottage itself was so unique and homey. We were sad when it came time to leave! During our stay, we weren’t sure if we wanted to go to the parks or just stay at the cottage. Russell is an incredible host. I messaged him twice with questions, and both times, he answered within a few minutes. You definitely feel that you’re in the country, but town is just ten minutes away for food and groceries. I very highly recommend staying here!
Such an under the radar gem of a place close by Zion with its own slot Canyon locally and the sauna in the back with the outdoor bathtub to cool off in afterwards is a huge plus.
You can tell the owner is a contractor because of the care and design with which he built this house himself. It really doesn't come across in the pictures how nicely finished it is.
