Back yard to canyon of the ancients
The Canyon Trails Ranch family were so very accommodating and friendly. Jessica took my husband and I on a half day horseback riding trip on their land and BLM land to remote ruins that are not accessible to the public. The horses were kind and gentle and easy to ride and Jessica taught us so much about the history of the land and the Puebloan people. We were the only campers there and had our pick of sites with the backdrop of the canyons right behind us. The shower and flushing toilet were clean and although a little far from the sites, was a welcome amenity. You can rent their cute little goat herder wagons, which are set up for glampers who don’t bring their own sleeping arrangements. There are horse stalls on site and miles of trails for those who have horses. It was hot and smoky from a distant fire. Cortez was close by where we enjoyed a delicious dinner at the Lounging Lizard ( recommended by the host). Do not drive Road G to Utah from their home, it is a terrible route. Go thru Cortez. Have fun!!
Views forever! don’t miss this spot
Rodents ranch was everything we were hoping for! Quiet, peaceful, spacious, amazing views, clean bathhouse and access to amazing hiking. Highly recommended !!
Perfect place for our pop-up camper
It’s hot as Hades here in SW CO, but we are happy as clams out at Rodney’s ranch. We have water and electricity at our site, a bath house with shower 😊, a wonderful covered area where we hang out in the afternoons, and incredible views. We can walk to the south Sand Canyon trailhead (or drive there lickety-split), where we happily hike. Hovenweep is a mere 40 minutes away. Rodney and Jessica are wonderful hosts, too. 🥰
Peace and quiet
Our stay was picture perfect. Not only was the surrounding scenery spectacular, our camp site was perfect for our two night stay. Great location for hiking, biking or horseback riding. A bit of a drive to get to the location but it is so worth it! Rodney was a warm and inviting host.
