This private, "rustic bohemian" cabin is super cozy! It sleeps TWO people max on a raised bed platform (queen size) with rug. There is space for a tent as well for your friends, but no more than two cars please. Please note the cabin is not air conditioned.
PLEASE NOTE: WE DO NOT PROVIDE BEDDING - so bring your own sleeping bags/pads, air mattress, blankets, pillows, flashlights, towels, etc. Make it your own cozy space. Please check weather and dress appropriately, nights are chilly in the desert up to May.
Our private campsites have solar electricity! Excellent cell reception, solar powered plug, potable water spigot, and a wash up sink next to the cabin! Private porta potty bathroom. No showers at this site. Easy drive to Joshua Tree National Park and 3 minutes to JT village with local shopping, JT Saloon, Saturday Farmer's Market. There is another camp site on the grounds - see our listing for The Desert Pensione - on the opposite side of the property. We respond quickly to inquiries or questions.
We MEET AND GREET our campers in front of the JT Saloon at 61835 29 Palms Hwy (Hwy 62) and Park Bl. in Joshua Tree, and we will lead them to the camp site.
Sorry, no large parties or events allowed. It's simply a matter of impact, noise, treading lightly, only one toilet, etc... This is private property and you are on it by permission. We want to keep your desert camping experience authentic.
We do not allow RV's. While dogs are allowed, we must know about it ahead of time, and be aware that there is another camp site on the other side of the main building that may be occupied, and may not like wandering pooches. Also note that the property is not fenced and the main highway is close by. Your dog must be well trained not to run off. Please pick up after your dog. Thank you!

The property was perfectly private and offered great amenities! Tons of room for people to sleep in the small cabin and also pitch a tent. There was a clean porta potty, sink, table and chairs. Jimbo was an awesome host who offered great hospitality
A great spot to stay near Joshua Tree! Very cute little cabin, and a really fun little spot. You can hear the highway from the site, so bring earplugs if you are a light sleeper.
Really enjoyed our stay at Porte Cochere - it's a unique and artsy arrangement, with just the right amount of amenities to take some of the set-up work out of camping. The property was clean and ready for our arrival. The "bed shed" (as I named it) was not large, but we fit three people in using the platform for two and a single air mattress for the third person. We enjoyed having the storage shelf, side table, solar lighting/outlets and the sliding french doors. The sink/wash basin area was very convenient for cleaning up (ourselves and the dishes) and we hung potable shower bags on the large fence hooks that heated up really well with the desert day time heat. The porta potty is clean and close by. The owners are in the process of building a flush toilet for Porte Cochere and if it turns out as cute as the one constructed for The Penzione, it will be an added bonus. The fences that frame the site provide privacy and are a good wind break. The picnic table, wooden backed bench and campfire set-up/ring were all welcome spots to relax. We stretched a couple of light tarps to provide shade, hung our hammock and it felt like home. It's a quiet area and even with guests staying at the adjoining Pensione, we felt like we had a piece of the desert to ourselves. Cheryl and Jimbo were responsive and welcoming. They met us in town to guide us to the camp site and gave us a quick once over of how things worked. The property had a lot of personality and I would definitely go back. I would recommend going with a bigger group and renting both campsites. As many have described before, you are not far from the hwy but it is not an issue at all.

Suprisingly artistic, warm, cozy ,convenient and reasonable.
Cheryl and Jimbo were great hosts, easy communication and clear directions. The camping spot is very cozy and I would recommend it to anyone!
Beautiful campsite! This place has a cozy, personal feel to it, and has an aesthetic that compliments the desert surroundings. If you’re looking for a cool place to access the park or get some artistic inspiration, this may be the place for you.
Cheryl was sooo sweet and answered all my questions and concerns I had. I’ll definitely will be staying here again!!!!

Cheryl and Jimbo were great hosts! We had a little trouble with our Van on the way to the site. They were very personable and helpful with our situation. I would definitely recommend staying at their campsite.
Great stay!
