This beautiful spot was re-forested with pine a number of years ago, and was sectioned off from the surrounding farmland, which is now maintained by the mennonite community.
It is 8 1/2 acres of wetland and forest, with a mown perimeter, and cool places to tuck into the forest for the night.
The current owner was a special educator, and now is slowly turning the land into her homestead.
There is a beautiful, spa quality outdoor shower next to a tidy and 'fancier than most' outhouse, a strawberry patch as well as wild alpine strawberries all over the property, a big dog and a small indoor cat keep her company.

-Bunkie in the Forest: A sweet 8x8 ft. space with new bunk and mattresses as of April 2023

This has a map and websites of in the area hikes and other businesses. There is a lake about 12 min drive from us with a nice beach. We will provide a pick nick table, unless other campers are using it. A short walk from us is a small Catholic country church, and you can walk to the Slate River Bridge on Hwy 608 and on Hwy 61.

Backwater Paradise has possibilities for several camping styles. whether you bring your own RV, easy tenting or choose to go deep and experience raw wilderness/survival in our Left Field. There is a water tower providing utility water for washing or extinguishing camp fires. We have a quiet atmosphere for new and savvy nature lovers. s. There are no lights on this lake which makes it perfect for star gazing. The main entrance is very well marked and leads to the lake. This is where we host RV sites and tent sites. All nature watchers and sky gazers will enjoy the spaces we have here. Moose, bald eagles. wolves, otters, beavers, bears, owls and several migratory birds are common visitors. You will get to hear whippoorwills, several species of frogs, crickets, and sometimes wolves/coyotes at night. It is very important that pets be kept on a leash. In the lake there is plenty of bass and pike to keep a fisher and kid fishers busy. Common gear will work here and strongly recommend using wire swivel leaders. We promote 'lake 2 plate' principles and if you need anything let us know!! All campers have use of the water front no matter where your site is. On the shore of the lake front is a very large common area and firepit and picnic tables for everyone to access and enjoy the water and the shoreline. We host fires Friday and Saturday nights weather permitting at this location. There are several firepit rings to allow campers to have their own camp fire and we sell hardwood. We also have a paddle boat rental. There is 30 acres of mixed forest, lake and marsh, and now we are able to be open year round. You will notice that some of the photos have brown for grass. Those are earlier pictures of when we first opened. All of our expanded areas are like that at first, and things have changed a lot over the last 4 years and, will continue to have "unkempt" areas as we continue to expand. Our newest listings this year are called Almost Paradise (shower unit) and more recently Rootbound Ranch (camping for those travelling with livestock or horses.) This also available for those that like to stay at a farm. If Backwater Paradise is full, you can enjoy the same attributes just across the road at Almost Paradise. Another site we have is Left Field. Its raw bush and field space in the center. This is where the marsh is. We are also working on a new trail between Backwater Paradise and Left Field and encourage our campers to enjoy the views of both of these spaces.

Welcome to our family-friendly farm! We are open year-round and are located in Hanmer, Ontario in the Greater Sudbury area. While staying with us, we encourage you to take a farm tour, try the petting zoo or enjoy the scenery.
With over 60 acres of farmland, our private and secluded campsites are level and are ideal for any type of camping, from tents to large RVs and everything in between, we can accommodate anyone looking to get outside and enjoy the outdoors. The property offers flat farm fields that back onto wooded areas with a river, pond, and nearby hiking trails!
A firepit is provided (Firewood available to purchase) and if you are planning on cooking we have pots and pans upon request. If you need water please feel free to fill up at the house. We also have an outhouse on site.
30 lakes are within a half-hour drive, great for fishing! Sudbury is in a crater, so there are lots of interesting rocks to see if geology interests you. We also have many trail plans for ATV and snow machines (permits required). Seasonal blueberry picking is also available on-site. We are only 10 minutes away from the Train Museum, a must-see while in the area!

We are a short drive to Guelph Lake, the Elora Gorge, Guelph to Goderich rail trail, and a 25-minute drive to St Jacob's farmers market. And a 1.4 km walk to a small country market and bakery. A great site for families that you can call home and plan day trips around the area, or hang out at the campsite. Firewood is available for purchase on-site.
We have 3 campsites that are spread out on 4 acres of grass. 1 site is used for temporary summer trailers, 2 are for camping. Pets are welcome, but keep them on a leash. Please remember to remove all garbage and recycling from campsites, a compost bin is available on site by the garden.
A portable toilet is available from May 15 to the end of thanksgiving weekend in October. And please note that we are located beside an active rail line that is used by the Go Train, VIA Rail and freighters, there are trains that pass throughout the night.
A 2 night stay is required for summer weekends.

The cottage is at the edge of a large wilderness area. We supply an ultra-safe large canoe with paddles and lifejackets. It's an easy and fun 15 minute paddle to reach the cottage.
The cottage is an artistic gem on a safe and quiet lake with beavers and loons and numerous bird species -- owls, herons, hawks, ospreys, and many migratory songbirds. In over 20 years of experience on the lake, we've seen no bears. It's a cosy three-room place with a small bedroom (8x12) with an antique double bed; a main room (16 x12) with a single bed; and a kitchen (8X12). Sleeps 3, max.
Access to the cottage is up a short set of irregular stone stairs from the lake. This could be an impediment for elderly or frail people. The lake is not a private lake. There are other cottages. But it's a very quiet lake and often there's no one else there.
The landscape is very similar to Algonquin Park's. North Kawartha is famous as the birthplace of the canoe. This is a thinly-populated landscape of rugged granite bluffs, thickly-forested hills and valleys, and gorgeous lakes that remain quiet and peaceful even during the hottest summer weeks.
This place was made by and for lovers, artists, poets, musicians, dreamers, writers, environmentalists, ecologists, escapists...and their children.

You will get to hear whippoorwills, several species of frogs, crickets, and sometimes wolves/coyotes at night. It is very important that pets be kept on a leash. In the lake there is plenty of bass and pike to keep a fisher and kid fishers busy. Common gear will work here and strongly recommend using wire swivel leaders. We promote 'lake 2 plate' principles and if you need anything let us know!! All campers have use of the water front no matter where your site is. On the shore of the lake front is a very large common area and firepit and picnic tables for everyone to access and enjoy the water and the shoreline. We host fires Friday and Saturday nights weather permitting at this location. There are several firepit rings to allow campers to have their own camp fire and we sell hardwood. We also have a paddle boat rental. There is 30 acres of mixed forest, lake and marsh, and now we are able to be open year round. You will notice that some of the photos have brown for grass. Those are earlier pictures of when we first opened. All of our expanded areas are like that at first, and things have changed a lot over the last 4 years and, will continue to have "unkempt" areas as we continue to expand. Our newest listings this year are called Almost Paradise (shower unit) and more recently Rootbound Ranch (camping for those travelling with livestock or horses.) This also available for those that like to stay at a farm. If Backwater Paradise is full, you can enjoy the same attributes just across the road at Almost Paradise. Another site we have is Left Field. Its raw bush and field space in the center. This is where the marsh is. A portable toilet is available from May 15 to the end of thanksgiving weekend in October. And please note that we are located beside an active rail line that is used by the Go Train, VIA Rail and freighters, there are trains that pass throughout the night.

The cottage is at the edge of a large wilderness area. We supply an ultra-safe large canoe with paddles and lifejackets. It's an easy and fun 15 minute paddle to reach the cottage.
The cottage is an artistic gem on a safe and quiet lake with beavers and loons and numerous bird species -- owls, herons, hawks, ospreys, and many migratory songbirds. In over 20 years of experience on the lake, we've seen no bears. It's a cosy three-room place with a small bedroom (8x12) with an antique double bed; a main room (16 x12) with a single bed; and a kitchen (8X12). Sleeps 3, max.
Access to the cottage is up a short set of irregular stone stairs from the lake. This could be an impediment for elderly or frail people. The lake is not a private lake. There are other cottages. But it's a very quiet lake and often there's no one else there.
The landscape is very similar to Algonquin Park's. North Kawartha is famous as the birthplace of the canoe. This is a thinly-populated landscape of rugged granite bluffs, thickly-forested hills and valleys, and gorgeous lakes that remain quiet and peaceful even during the hottest summer weeks.
This place was made by and for lovers, artists, poets, musicians, dreamers, writers, environmentalists, ecologists, escapists...and their children.

Check into a Spa Cabin - a SPOT TO RETREAT to relax and endure downtime : by yourself, a romantic stay to connect, or two close friends who are looking for quality time 'away from it all' - enjoy the benefits oF sauna/spa culture or use our spot as an off grid tiny cabin (with power & camper style outside cook space, restaurants to order from nearby).
Queen bed. Bedding supplied. No wifi!
Mini fridge inside cabin. Microwave. Bbq, toaster, electric cooktop, water, tea, coffee machine, Cutlery, plates bbq utensils supplied.
Upon request/availability we welcome you with a meditative sound bath using crystal sound bowls - grounding, centring, calming the thinking mind among the panoramic view. We then hand you a plush spa robe.
Provided in the cabin Facial supplies (exfoliate, cleanse, nourish ), body scrubs, massage oils, and hotel quality spa linens to name a few. This is an experientail stay, a small cabin heated by a wood burning stove - & a large 8 person sauna aside from the cabin lounge space & Queen size bed... Dip in the outside Hot tub on a covered deck looking into Scenic hills surrounded by 100’s of farm land - think your favorite Ontario spa's with no crowds. The 2 acre property is full of evergreens; fire pits, yoga room, sun decks, colour therapy building, star gazing and restaurants nearby for a date night. We encourage guests to explore .
Horse stables, nature trails, farmland spot to buy fresh honey, eggs nearby. Or if you just want to listen to music, journal, read a book, watch birds ; camp and reflect on life - the high vibrational energy of the lands are sure to tap into your inner peace.

Weekend Trip to Pine the Sky
I rented one of the bunkies this weekend for the 2nd time and its amazing. The bunkie has a bunkbed as well as a easily adjusted heater that keeps you nice and toasty. Highly recommend coming here. Joan is wonderful and very accommodating as well.

Excellent stay for a romantic getaway. If you think a wood burning sauna big enough for 4, a shower big enough for a table and bench, and a hot tub just outside your door makes for a perfect getaway, this is your place. The fridge was big enough for a three night stay, unlimited firewood, and all the oils, lotions and scents one could ask for. Truly a great place to be with the one you love, and your dogo. Could there have been a table inside for us nerds to puzzle on? Sure. But the floor works too. Would go back.

My friend and I went up for a short trip and found Wilma's farm here. It was a great experience! The lady who checked us in was not Wilma but she knew what she was doing! She was very kind to us and was very clear about the rules. She even gave us a list of things to do around the area. We checked in during the day but came back to camp at night. We felt very safe there and because it was cold we camped in my car. I would recommend this place! The workers are very sweet and we felt comfortable being there as two women in an unfamiliar place.

This was a magical and tranquil camping escape. The waterfront spot was perfectly quiet and peaceful. The clear skies and zero light pollution provided phenomenal stargazing nightly. Chris was very generous host. He provided us an abundant and complimentary supply of firewood. It made our evenings effortless and cozy. We will definitely return!

Joan is a wonderful host. Very thoughtful of her guests. Her land is beautiful. All of her sights are private and have a fireplace and picnic table. Her dogs Sid and Onyx are beautiful friendly dogs. We had a dog with us and they play all weekend. We are looking forward to going back within the next couple of months.

When we arrived, Jessica greeted us and gave us a tour of the property. She is super kind and hospitable❤️
The property is very beautiful and well maintained. The tent is warm and cozy, she actually gave us a heated blanket it was nearly freezing that evening
She also told me that I can ring her up anytime if we need anything. So sweet of her 🤩

Loved our time at Joan's place. First time using hipcamp so had no idea what to expect, and it was awesome.
I plan on returning many times, it is PERFECT, for cyclists who want to use it as a base camp or are through riding.

2 nights at Natural Joy! Cosy Canoe Cottage
Paul's cabin is so cozy and situated within such a stunning and remote area.
We loved canoeing around Ragged Lake and looking the beautiful big faces of the Canadian Shield. We also loved just starring out at the lake and looking at the birds, the trees and the stars. My partner and I had such a lovely time and will definitely be visiting again!
