We've headed into our Winter season, so we are offering a discounted price to camp. However, due to the weather of the season. Outdoor kitchen and showers are closed for the season. Starting April 15th 2026 the kitchen and outdoor showers we'll be fully reopen for Spring. Outdoor camping made easy with a FULLY OUTFITTED OPEN AIR OUTDOOR KITCHEN and HOT SHOWERS (not available in the coldest times of the year when pipes freeze). Kitchen includes hot water sinks, refrigerator, stove, microwave, toaster oven, toaster, blender, espresso machine, coffee grinder and maker, dishes, utensils, pots and pans, knives, cutting boards, etc. If there's something you need and can't find it, we'll bring it out from our kitchen in the house. ALL YOU NEED TO BRING FOR MEALS IS THE FOOD. Limited grocery shopping in our little town; it's good to shop ahead. During June- August, fires MIGHT be allowed in the communal fire pit near the kitchen. You must ask the host!, No fires at your campsite June- August, Fires during cooler months are often allowed at your campsite, but you must ask the host if current conditions allow Fire MUST be completely extinguished before you go to sleep at night. Instructions are printed and at at each site as well as at the communal firepit. Firewood available for purchase. SMOKERS, please be super careful! Outlets to CHARGE YOUR PHONE and DEVICES at the Stage and in the kitchen. Fruit trees and gardens dot the property. Feel free to pick a piece of fruit. We almost always have organic fresh eggs from the chickens for sale, The Camp Store has a variety of items such as jam, organic veggies, flowers, etc. See the list on the fridge. We're in a wooded country neighborhood where lots of folks have dogs, so you might hear some barking and see some neighbors. Very occasionally we see a dog off leash. We ask that you keep your dogs on leash at all times, as we have cats and chickens. We encourage you to enjoy the forest, but do be aware that there is poison oak. If you don't know what it looks like we can show you. Arrive anytime after 1pm. Check out is at noon, but you can often stay later if we don't have other campers arriving to your site. If your plans change, just let us know at least 24 hours before check-in and you'll get a full refund.

Or come to the communal fire near the bathhouse for sharing some time with family and the few other campers that may be there. Bringing your own wood is welcome. The coastal bike and hike trails are many. From South of Ft Bragg to the Sand Dunes near Ward Ave. you can travel over 7 miles one way and go down to quiet little beach coves along the way. Meadow Farm is a nonprofit 501c3 with goals of coastal food security, disaster preparation and sheltering, carbon sequestering and forest restoration. We offer native plant tours on or off site with advance notice. We like our dog companions! Two McNab collies, Moxie and Shama live here and may bark at first...still very friendly and social with people and other dogs.. There are several dog friendly off-leash areas such as, Noyo North Harbor Beach, Seaside Beach and dog parks in both Ft Bragg and Mendocino. Our farm is dog friendly tho we wish pets to be kept close, must be neutered and friendly to other dogs and people. Please be sure to bury or bag the waste. Speaking of waste, Meadow Farm strives to reduce waste by avoiding plastic as much as possible, recycling what we can and composting our veggie scraps. Please bring your own waste receptacles and take them along when you go. We take ours to the Caspar Transfer Station which is open Saturday through Wednesday... the location and hours can be found online. Our water is from a deep well and we periodically test it for bacteria. It is cold and delicious. Our irrigation pipes that have spigots and hoses at each camp are safe for drinking, cooking and cleaning Our solar pump moves water into storage tanks that provide all the water to the farm. It is very important that the water valves on your camp spigot is turned off (gently please) to avoid losing 2500 gallons of water in a short time. If you see a leak or break in a line please contact us immediately. There are also water shut offs for the camps on the west side of the Farm House if you are unable to reach us right away.. When doing dishes we request that you use the strainer to catch food particles from the dish water and toss them in your trash or compost bucket. If you have vegetable waste let us know and we can pick them up for adding to the worm bins or composting piles. We make worm "tea" fertilizer and rich soil from these offerings. No animal products or oil please... a few egg shells are okay. We do have the usual wildlife though we haven't had problems with them. Ravens will raid your camp if food or bags are left out while you are away. From dusk to dawn keep children and pets close. We coexist well here with the critters...and glad to have them. This is perfect for artists, writers, yogis, and those seeking the tranquility of off grid living. We have 40 acres of land with beautiful hiking in every direction. Our campsites have a fire pit, picnic table, and access to an outdoor shower and outdoor kitchen! The accommodation includes staying in a 850 square foot wooden yurt with bamboo floors.  The building has a wooden stove and propane wall heat. We also have a fridge, stove for cooking and propane wall heater inside the yurt. There is a futon that sleeps 2 plus a kids size bed, but please bring sleeping bags or bedding.  You can also put up two tents next to the yurt for more sleeping. We have now added also an attached kitchen and bathroom to the yurt so we have an indoor shower and full kitchen! There is a detached bathroom with a maintenance free composting toilet and simple outdoor kitchen.  You will have access to cooking utensils and cookware, camp stove, and fire pit. There is a solar system so you have access to electricity and wifi. The drive from Willits is 25 minutes, with only the last 5 minutes on a dirt road.  You can do the drive in any car, unless the occasional snowy conditions.  There is plenty of parking next to the yurt for easy unpacking.. To access the coast you do have to go back through Willits and use highway 20.

Established in 2012.Camp Noyo was first developed as a logging camp for the Union Lumber Company in 1907. Originally called "Camp Four," it was the fourth camp established by the lumber company as they progressed east from Fort Bragg along the current route of the California Western Railroad. In 1933, the Union Lumber Company donated the property to the Boy Scouts of America. The Boy Scouts began using the site in the summer 1934 and continue to use the property for several weeks every summer.In 2012, Allan Hemphill, his son Brian, and a small group of family friends purchased the property from the Boy Scouts. The Hemphill family has been care taking Camp Noyo for over 60 years. We decieded to open the property to the public in 2015 for camping in the summer.

The road continues on and makes a northbound loop and meets the Hwy 101 at Laytonville. The road is well maintained and any vehicle can travel the 9 mile trip which takes about 30 minutes driving moderately. This area offers great mountain biking, days on the river, hikes along the new designated state hiking trail along the Dos Rios railroad tracks. Trips to the Mendocino National Forest, bird watching and wildlife in general to see, there are many indigenous species in this microclimate of two rivers. Many backroads and adventures to travel and have. Currently able to host two large sites and up to 10 visitors. Expect a beautiful 30 minute drive on gravel roads through mature Redwood forest from the village of Mendocino. The property is also accessible from Fort Bragg via HWY 20 and road 408/Little Lake Rd. The Aloha Cabin is a beautiful one room timber frame cabin located on a ridge top in the Redwood forest. Upon entering the gate at Old Mill Farm the Aloha Cabin is the first building you see as you come out of the thick forest and into the mixed meadow/forest ridge top of the property. Old Mill Farm is a 320 ranch in the middle of Mendocino county's 50,000 acre JDSF (Jackson State Demonstration Forest.) The Aloha sits by itself about a 1/2 mile from the rest of the ranch buildings and like the entire ranch is completely off-grid. Electricity is provided by a solar photovoltaic system and battery back up. All water is pumped with solar power and gravity fed throughout the property. You will be imbedded in the outdoors with ample opportunity to commune with the forest and the wildlife that live there. The Aloha has a kitchen equipped for cooking with refrigerator, range and oven. There is a bathroom with a flush toilet and a private outdoor shower. We provide linens and bedding for the full size bed and towels for 4 guests. There is also a sleeping loft (with no bedding included but can be added as an extra.) Please bring your own pads and sleeping bags to use the loft or pitch a tent in the front yard. The front yard is fenced and has a fire pit. All water onsite is potable so make sure to top off before your day of adventuring. There is a horseshoe pit, cornhole, and badminton set for fun under the sun. All sites are a two min walk to the State Park trails and 5 min ride to Jackson state forest bike trails. It's about a half hour walk to the beautiful waterfall from our property. Large Groups are welcome to book all three sites with two additional RV locations. Also we have a fully stocked westfalia camper van to glamp in if your wanting to pack light for the weekend. We've headed into our Winter season, so we are offering a discounted price to camp. However, due to the weather of the season. Outdoor kitchen and showers are closed for the season. Starting April 15th 2026 the kitchen and outdoor showers we'll be fully reopen for Spring. Outdoor camping made easy with a FULLY OUTFITTED OPEN AIR OUTDOOR KITCHEN and HOT SHOWERS (not available in the coldest times of the year when pipes freeze). Kitchen includes hot water sinks, refrigerator, stove, microwave, toaster oven, toaster, blender, espresso machine, coffee grinder and maker, dishes, utensils, pots and pans, knives, cutting boards, etc. If there's something you need and can't find it, we'll bring it out from our kitchen in the house. ALL YOU NEED TO BRING FOR MEALS IS THE FOOD. Limited grocery shopping in our little town; it's good to shop ahead. During June- August, fires MIGHT be allowed in the communal fire pit near the kitchen. You must ask the host!, No fires at your campsite June- August, Fires during cooler months are often allowed at your campsite, but you must ask the host if current conditions allow Fire MUST be completely extinguished before you go to sleep at night. Instructions are printed and at at each site as well as at the communal firepit. Firewood available for purchase. SMOKERS, please be super careful! Outlets to CHARGE YOUR PHONE and DEVICES at the Stage and in the kitchen. Fruit trees and gardens dot the property. Feel free to pick a piece of fruit. We're in a wooded country neighborhood where lots of folks have dogs, so you might hear some barking and see some neighbors. Very occasionally we see a dog off leash. If you don't know what it looks like we can show you. Arrive anytime after 1pm. Check out is at noon, but you can often stay later if we don't have other campers arriving to your site. The coastal bike and hike trails are many. From South of Ft Bragg to the Sand Dunes near Ward Ave. you can travel over 7 miles one way and go down to quiet little beach coves along the way. Meadow Farm is a nonprofit 501c3 with goals of coastal food security, disaster preparation and sheltering, carbon sequestering and forest restoration. We offer native plant tours on or off site with advance notice. We like our dog companions! Two McNab collies, Moxie and Shama live here and may bark at first...still very friendly and social with people and other dogs.. There are several dog friendly off-leash areas such as, Noyo North Harbor Beach, Seaside Beach and dog parks in both Ft Bragg and Mendocino. Our farm is dog friendly tho we wish pets to be kept close, must be neutered and friendly to other dogs and people. Please be sure to bury or bag the waste. Speaking of waste, Meadow Farm strives to reduce waste by avoiding plastic as much as possible, recycling what we can and composting our veggie scraps. Please bring your own waste receptacles and take them along when you go. We take ours to the Caspar Transfer Station which is open Saturday through Wednesday... the location and hours can be found online. Our water is from a deep well and we periodically test it for bacteria. It is cold and delicious. Our irrigation pipes that have spigots and hoses at each camp are safe for drinking, cooking and cleaning Our solar pump moves water into storage tanks that provide all the water to the farm. It is very important that the water valves on your camp spigot is turned off (gently please) to avoid losing 2500 gallons of water in a short time. If you see a leak or break in a line please contact us immediately. There are also water shut offs for the camps on the west side of the Farm House if you are unable to reach us right away.. When doing dishes we request that you use the strainer to catch food particles from the dish water and toss them in your trash or compost bucket. If you have vegetable waste let us know and we can pick them up for adding to the worm bins or composting piles. We make worm "tea" fertilizer and rich soil from these offerings. No animal products or oil please... a few egg shells are okay. We do have the usual wildlife though we haven't had problems with them. Ravens will raid your camp if food or bags are left out while you are away. From dusk to dawn keep children and pets close. We coexist well here with the critters...and glad to have them. This is perfect for artists, writers, yogis, and those seeking the tranquility of off grid living. We have 40 acres of land with beautiful hiking in every direction. Our campsites have a fire pit, picnic table, and access to an outdoor shower and outdoor kitchen! The accommodation includes staying in a 850 square foot wooden yurt with bamboo floors.  The building has a wooden stove and propane wall heat. We also have a fridge, stove for cooking and propane wall heater inside the yurt. There is a futon that sleeps 2 plus a kids size bed, but please bring sleeping bags or bedding.  You can also put up two tents next to the yurt for more sleeping. We have now added also an attached kitchen and bathroom to the yurt so we have an indoor shower and full kitchen! There is a detached bathroom with a maintenance free composting toilet and simple outdoor kitchen.  You will have access to cooking utensils and cookware, camp stove, and fire pit. There is a solar system so you have access to electricity and wifi. The drive from Willits is 25 minutes, with only the last 5 minutes on a dirt road.  You can do the drive in any car, unless the occasional snowy conditions.  There is plenty of parking next to the yurt for easy unpacking.. To access the coast you do have to go back through Willits and use highway 20.

Established in 2012.Camp Noyo was first developed as a logging camp for the Union Lumber Company in 1907. Originally called "Camp Four," it was the fourth camp established by the lumber company as they progressed east from Fort Bragg along the current route of the California Western Railroad. In 1933, the Union Lumber Company donated the property to the Boy Scouts of America. The Boy Scouts began using the site in the summer 1934 and continue to use the property for several weeks every summer.In 2012, Allan Hemphill, his son Brian, and a small group of family friends purchased the property from the Boy Scouts. The Hemphill family has been care taking Camp Noyo for over 60 years. We decieded to open the property to the public in 2015 for camping in the summer.

Heartwood Camp’s Huckleberry site was an absolutely incredible stay. The scenery alone is worth the visit—towering redwoods, peaceful forest views, and a truly serene atmosphere that makes it easy to unplug and relax. The facilities are top-notch. The camp kitchen is well thought out and very convenient, and the bathrooms are clean, comfortable, and clearly well cared for. Everything feels intentionally designed to enhance the camping experience while still letting nature be the star. One of the highlights of the stay was the unforgettable outdoor redwood tree shower. Showering among the redwoods is magical—private, refreshing, and easily one of the coolest outdoor showers I’ve ever experienced. The hosts are wonderful, and their sweet dog Lola deserves a special mention. She’s incredibly friendly and gentle and may stop by your site to say hello, which only adds to the charm of the place. Overall, Heartwood Camp at the Huckleberry site offers a perfect balance of natural beauty and thoughtful amenities. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a peaceful, memorable camping experience. 🌲🐾🚿

Weekend Trip to Heartwood Mendocino
We had a great time car camping with our dog at Heartwood this weekend. Beautiful site, with many handy amenities. The heated bathrooms were a lifesaver this chilly weekend, but we still took advantage of the redwood shower! It was great to chat with other campers and easy to drive out to explore beaches and hikes during the day, and run to Harvest Market if we needed anything. We will definitely come back again to camp or stay in a cabin.

Our recent stay at Shay and Liz’s Hipcamp in Mendocino County was, without question, the best Hipcamp experience we’ve ever had. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that they had thought of absolutely everything to make guests feel welcome, comfortable, and at home. Their warmth and hospitality set the tone, and the environment they’ve created is nothing short of magical, with unique artwork, beautiful plants, and thoughtful touches everywhere. Each site has its own outdoor kitchen, spacious tent pad, fire pit with chairs, blankets, and even firewood. Highlights included a hot shower among the redwoods, a trail from camp to a waterfall, and easy access to amazing beaches. The camp and nearby beaches were wonderfully dog‑friendly, and our son loved it so much he wrote a two‑page review in their guest book. We’ve already booked our return! Thanks again Shay and Liz!!

The Cozy Cabin is tiny and adorable - one of those rare properties that is actually exactly as described in its listing. We brought our dog and had a lovely stay. The bed is very comfortable, the cabin is well insulated, well spaced from other dwellings and campsites, the land around it is beautiful, and there are lots of stars to see on a clear night. Only noteworthy flaw was upon arrival: it was pretty tough to find our way in the dark. Arrive in the daylight if possible until they add clearer night-reflective signage and/or a detailed campsite map!

Report from your Shirtless Host on west port State Beach I drove by the park on the way down to Clear Lake State Park. I still think this is the best camping you can do !! Right in the cliff looking down on the coast! As you come off the Legget road this the frist State Park you come too!! Don't pass it by you will miss out on a great camping experience!! Out of all the camps l have been at some 800 of them l think that Westport is at the top of my list!! It not any thing you can put a finger on it just the sunsets are jright in front of you whales going by. Stars dancing off the waves! The beach is great for both you and the family and friends to walk on. So pack up the family and friends and head to the beach Shirtless Host Steve

Report from your Shirtless host Steve for Hipcamp I drove by West Port about a week ago the camp is still awesome looking but l did not see all the campers that l thought would be there. For all you campers in the Bay Area come to WestPort it is one of the best sites on the Hwy 1 to camp at. Long Beach you camp over looking the coast line so don't just drive by!! Stop and enjoy the sun set and you will see the stars and the moon light dance off the waves. This is your Shirtless host telling you that camping is fun but Family camping is a lot more fun. Really exposed and sites are right next to each other without any privacy but it's still a beautiful location. (As noted by Rob, it's pretty much a parking lot on a bluff.) That said, the coast line is gorgeous and it's fantastic mid-week. We camped here on a Wednesday and there was only one other site taken so it was really peaceful. Felt like we had the beach all to ourselves. Amazing spot for watching the sunset and star gazing.

Report from your shirtless host The Westport S.P. has the honor to host a 1952 flexible bus. This bus was a Yosemite N.P. bus from 1952 to 70 they bought it in 1972. The name of the bus is ( Here-N-There). Look for it on the coast line. If you like camping like I do, start looking and enjoying the classic Once there gone there gone. I know that newer RVs. are nice but the old classics RVs. are the best and we need them. If you are true camper and have a love for the pasted you know most of this classic cost more to restore then a new one. To love a classic RV. Hope that over the next 3 weeks you well be falling me on my journey South. As l make my way over to the Salton Sea just east of L.A. Report from your shirtless host on bowling ball Beach This is for all of you that have not heard of this beach. As you are driving up or down Hwy. 1 ( coast Hwy. ). It is located @ or near Schooner Gulch State Park. This is a beach you can only get to @ low tide. The walk down to the beach is over slippery rocks and should be traveled with great care. Just getting down to the beach can be tricky. The rock were created 100 million years ago so they say. The bowling ball are rocks ranging from small to large some looked 3 feet in size and larger. Report from your shirtless host on Manchester State Park It going to be a sad day on the Mendocino coast. All you campers should know that Manchester S.P. well most likely not open this year for camping again. The day use well open but not the rest of the park. Even sadder is that new campers to this park well not get to enjoy it. You campers that have been hear before and have a love for this park well not get enjoy it too. This park should be open. The sad part is that the 40 family campsites are going to be setting empty, what a waste. The wildlife and vegetation alone makes this a hikers dream. Report from your shirtless host @ Westport State Beach 2am now @Westport the stars are out and it is 55° now and Iam enjoying the sound that the crashing waves are making. The heavy wave action is like music to my ears. It is such a relaxing atmosphere to be out side at Westport. When conditions are right and the stars are out ( Bingo ) life is good, time to go camping. As I look out over the coast the waves seem to be dancing in the star light. If you need to relax stop by Westport and camp for the weekend. At sunset build a fire in the fire pit and enjoy the sunset then stay up and enjoy the starie sky. Yes Iam shirtless right now. Report from your shirtless host @ Westport State Beach As the RVers drive by I know that some of them are missing out on the Mendocino coast. All you RVers stop and enjoy the state parks in this area. Winters can be the best time to enjoy the State Parks along the Mendocino coast line. You got WPSB just north of Fort Bragg . MacKerricher,, Van Damma and Russian Gulch State Parks are all in the Mendocino-Fort Bragg area. If you are looking redwoods you have Hendy Woods & Navarro river redwoods State Parks. But if you are just out for a day trip then the Mendocino headland & Point Cabrillo light station S.H.P. is a must see. If out for a day or for the weekend you well enjoy every minute of your stay. Make sure you are planning on camping on one of the weekends that is having a whale festival. Mendocino is on Mar. 5th. an 6th. Little River is on 12th an 13th. And Fort Bragg is on 19th an 20th. Don't for get MacKerricher S.P. for the whale walk and tours. The whale festival is all all about the whale migration which is majestic by it self. But this is time to experience more. We are north of Fort Bragg and we have a pristine Sandy Beach to hike on. The ocean give us both crashing waves and gentle surf, sculpted rocks and abundance and a wids variety of wild life to view. Report from the shirtless host @ Westport State Beach. This is for all you bird watchers and whale watchers. This week we had both. At least 50 pelicans with 5 foot + wingspan was flying by @ eye level. As you are watching the pelicans go by. The whales are migrating by in the back ground. One of the fastest growing activities is birding ( bird watching ). Mac Kerricher State Park well have whale watching tours until the end of March. The migrating whales are migrating down from the Bering sea near Alaska. The whales are heading to warmer water off Baja California, Mexico. The newborn calves measuring 12 to 15 feet and are 1 to 1 1\2 tons. They are born in the laygoons off Baja California and Mexico. Then they start there long.

Report from your shirtless host @ Westport Union landing state Beach Not. Howard creek Iam Sadden Rob! Rob! Your review is less then what the park is. I know your review is from this Summer. I did not get to the park until Oct. 1st. I can tell you that the bath room are not falling apart. I clean the bath room 4 to 5 times a day and that is every day. The bluff are not I-deal for tent camping. But camp sites 96-97-98-99 and 100 plus 60 other camp site are I-deal for R.V. and tent camping. I take the camp site after each camper leaves. I walk the park every day and pick up any and all trash. Shirtless host

Your shirtless here at Westport State Beach. As of yesterday we are still only 19 miles north of Fort Bragg. The scenic coastline is a totally outdoor splendor. We have day use opportunities,whale watching and the whale are hear. Last week we had at least 8 pass by.Soon they well all be heading south. ?, we have the cleaners camp sites on the coast.the bathroom are cleaned 4 to 5 times a day. The pristine environment, surrounding areas have some of the most out standing majestic vistas you well find . So if you want to have a camp site with a experience of a life time. The vista hear are the most magnificent,breathtakeing views you well find on the Mendocino coast line. You can camp right on bluff over looking the Pacific Ocean. I've never heard this called "Howard Creek" campground so search for it by the beach name. Basically just parking lots on the bluff; toilets are falling apart. But the beach below is magnificent, and often windy. Not a great tenting site.
