Before we arrived I was concerned about the weather, because the day before was 35deg at another camp without power. So I contacted Sam at Brady Farms with my concerns. Sam told me that the site had power, water , shower and toilet. ( sounded like heaven)!!! Driving up the driveway (2kms long) passing Paddocks already harvested and a mountain of hay bales and tractors awaiting work the next day. Jo , Sam’s wife met us at end of the driveway and showed us to our site. Our oasis!!!! Green grass. Especially for our dog. There were goats and sheep to look at. Starry night on the farm. Jo showed me and explained to me the different seeds that were grown on the farm at different times and also memorabilia of previous generations. Weekend Trip to Retreat to Granite Springs Farmstay

We had an amazing stay! Sally and her wonderful family made us feel incredibly welcome from the moment we arrived. Their property is beautiful and perfect for camping plenty of space, peaceful farm surroundings, and lots of friendly animals. My 9-year-old had an absolute blast spending time near the horses, goats, the sweetest dogs, and spotting native birds. A special mention to Sally’s son, who became the best “local guide” my boy could ask for. He was an incredibly lovely, friendly, and super polite young gentleman "truly a highlight of our stay". We stayed in a powered site close to the farm, which was super convenient, but they also offer unpowered sites that are a bit more private if you prefer a quieter spot. Both options are great. I honestly couldn’t recommend this place more. It’s a fantastic experience for families and anyone who wants a relaxed and welcoming farm-style camping getaway. We’ll definitely be returning!

1 night at Brady Farm, Nandaly

Sam and Jo are very friendly and welcoming hosts. We were super lucky to recieve a free guided walk of the garden and hen house from the granddaughter. The flushing toilet and hot shower are clean and convenient. Hipcamping on a farm is a great way we can support our primary producers and small rural communities. We took a short drive into town and had dinner at the community owned pub. Good country hospitality all round, no pretentious bullshit here.

We had a really lovely stay. The shearing shed is well maintained and looked after and perfect for the kids to stretch their legs in the dry when the bad weather drifted over. We were very grateful for the shelter, the fact we could have the fire undercover and for the flat land in the grassy paddock we were able to set up in. The kids loved Alice and Rusty. Terri and Paul were great hosts. Oh, and they have a washing machine, which is what we needed at this time of the trip! Thanks for having us stay.

We stayed at site2-Private paddock. It was very private and relaxing,just the scenery,horses and birds. Sally was terrific with communication and made sure we settled in ok and if there was anything we needed. Chiltern was 5-10 mins away,easy access to pub,IGA,bakery,cafe and clean public toilets. It was a great base to explore the area from.

Great venue, the host Charlotte was excellent and made us feel right at home. the sites were awesome, great views and each night ended by the log fire with a glass of wine. 10/10, in fact we are looking for excuses to go back! My 9 year old also rated it as a 10 out of 10! we will see you all again soon!

If you’re reading this comment, have peace of mind and just book it as you won’t regret it! A heartfelt thank you to Sam and Jo, who made our tent camping stay feel not like a trip, but like coming home. The site has both water and power, plus a function room with air conditioning where you can comfortably eat indoors if the weather turns bad. The bathroom is spotless and conveniently located right next to your site. We were also treated to a bonus farm tour seeing a tractor or a harvester worth as much as a house in Melbourne was such an experience! Jo’s fresh strawberry and milk were the sweetest touches, reminding me of my grandparents and their kindness. In a nutshell, this was the best of the best camping trips we’ve ever had. Thank you, Sam and Jo for everything!

We had such a fabulous time at Terri's place. There were so many amenities with the kitchen setup and indoor space, and the undercover tent space was a game changer with the wild weather we had. Beautiful view of the reservoir and lovely ambience with the resident retired horse. Would very highly recommend and can't wait to go back!

We had such a fantastic stay at Granite Springs Farmstay near Chiltern. From the moment we arrived, Sally was incredibly warm, friendly, and welcoming, and instantly made us feel comfortable. We stayed at Farmstay Site 4A, which was very easy to access and had plenty of room for our setup. The site was private, peaceful, and powered, and we loved being right near a paddock where we could watch the horses and foals playing throughout the day. Sitting outside and watching the sun set over the property was genuinely stunning. The whole atmosphere felt safe, relaxed, and completely stress free. Hearing the gentle nays of the horses added to the charm in the best way. Our kids had an absolute blast meeting and feeding the horses and goats, and they have not stopped talking about the friendly farm animals since we got home. They are already asking when we can come back for a longer stay. A big highlight was swimming at the waterhole, which the kids adored. Sally also took us on a lovely little tour of the vegetable patches, and we even got to try some fresh guinea fowl eggs, which were so tasty. The farm was easy to find, the price was fantastic, and everything felt genuine, warm, and full of country hospitality. We would recommend Granite Springs Farmstay to absolutely anyone looking for a real farm experience. We only stayed one night this time, but we cannot wait to return and spend even more time there.

It was a great set-up, which helped with less than perfect weather. Terri & her family were very warm & welcoming. We loved having Rusty the horse & Alice the dog come to visit us whilst we stayed there. The shearing shed is definitely the highlight of the site - fantastic history that was set out to cater for those who wanted to escape the weather or needed to travel light (camp kitchen, dining areas - even a washing machine and internal clothesline!) A beautiful property and location that was superbly set out.

We enjoyed camping at Sally’s farm - Sally was very welcoming and gave clear directions. The location is close to Chiltern and only 20 minutes from Rutherglen. A good, level site and clear access. Highly recommend the farm tour for the kids!

Jo and Sam made us very welcome at their farm, as did the farm dogs, including Sonny and Cher. They have a nice grassed area for vans to park next to and relax on, with a bathroom and shower adjacent. After weeks in caravan parks, it was so quiet and peaceful to stay here and the stars at night were incredible. Being only several kms from Nandaly town we headed to the community run Nandaly pub, open from 5 each evening for an excellent meal. The farm is close to Tyrrell lake, a vast pink salt lake with excellent viewing facilities, plus sky couches to view the stars at night if you're keen. The town of Sea Lake is just down the road from Tyrrell lake with several excellent cafes, a community run Pub and excellent Silo art and murals. Check out the 1949 Ford in the original styled Ford dealership on the main street. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay Thanks Steve and Debbie

Communication with Sally leading into the stay was outstanding. On arrival, we were shown to our site and given a brief about where we could walk/hang out on the property. Absolutely LOVED our night at Brady Farms. Our hosts were so welcoming and kind and we had so much fun playing with their dogs and learning all about their beautiful property. Wish we could have stayed longer! Wonderful and picturesque location and access to power was great for what we needed for our camper. Toilet and shower facilities provided were fabulous and clean! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Where to go

Great Ocean Road

The Great Ocean Road west of Melbourne is one of the world's great scenic road trips, but there’s much more to see and do than snapping a selfie at the Twelve Apostles rock stacks. Zipline above the rainforest in Great Otway National Park, climb lighthouses, watch whales, surf iconic Bells Beach, and pitch a tent on any one of several beachside camping areas. Road tripping doesn't get much better than this.

Gippsland and the Bays

Gippsland stretches east of Melbourne to the sea and north to the border with NSW. Most of the coastline is protected by a string of national parks with fantastic seaside camping spots and holiday parks—and camping at Wilsons Promontory (locals just call it the Prom) on the mainland’s southernmost tip is a must-do at least once. This is also where you’ll find Phillip Island, home to the famous nightly penguin parade.

The Victorian Alps

The High Country is the place to go for winter snow sports and summer mountain bike trails, plus bushwalking. If that sounds too energetic, it’s also home to the Great Alpine Road, one of Australia's best food and wine touring routes (and yes, the scenery is pretty good too).

The Grampians

In the state's west, the Grampians are another mountain playground with a network of bushwalking trails, from quick 2-hour walking tracks to 3-day hikes in the Grampians National Park. This is also where campers can find the highest concentration of Indigenous art in the state. Opt for bush camping sites in the national park or more luxurious campsites at Halls Gap or Dunkeld caravan parks.

Murray Riverlands

Australia's longest river, the mighty Murray forms most of the border with NSW to the north, and all along its length are great beachfront campsites from where you can go for a swim or paddle a kayak, catch a fish, or sit back and watch the world glide by. Elsewhere in the riverlands, ride a restored paddle steamer at Echuca, take a cruise through the largest river red gum forest in the world at Barmah, and dine out in the foodie hot spot of Mildura.
