**Please note that it's $20 per person per night. Small farm and vineyard at Macquarie Plains in the Upper Derwent Valley, southern Tasmania. The property is 380m from the junction of the Lyell Highway and the Gordon River Road. It has 450m absolute river frontage on the River Derwent (no riparian reserve). The river here is freshwater, potable and a renowned trout water, (licence required). Three kilometres from the village of Gretna. 4WD Preferred. 2WD need to assess river access. Campers need all own amenities and leave no trace. Dog friendly but please see rules, we have livestock and so dogs need to be well controlled at all times. Campfires permitted when restrictions aren't in place (see rules around campfires). Due to hydro generation activity, the river may slowly rise or fall up to 1m (often without rain) so please be careful around the water.

Gateway for the Craddle Mountain.The property is located 5 minutes to Mole Creek, 20 minutes to Deloraine and 1 hour to the airport and Launceston.There are no facilities here, campers will need to be self contained and leave no trace. Campfires are permitted within local regulations and in designated campfire areas. Please make sure the fire is completely extinguished and the area is clean before you leave.

The site is in a simple, level grassed paddock situated within easy access off a country road, in Mowbanna. 10 minutes up the road is Dip Falls and The Big Tree. Along the way you will pass Blue Hills Honey Farm and The Colony Cafe (well worth the calories!). Back down the road towards the highway is the Millicent Valley walking trail and once back to the highway junction you can walk along several long, sandy beaches or head east to find Rocky Cape National Park with spectacular hiking tracks, swimming and fishing spots. Pets welcome. Campfires permitted, BYO wood or please just come and see us and we can organise some wood for you.

If the weather is wet you can choose to camp next to the roofed shelter if the horses arent there. The camp area and barn are in a peaceful location in a pasture paddock on 8 acres with lots of birdlife and walks nearby. The main house where we live part time is on the property, but you still have your own space and privacy. This is a fun affordable upgrade/escape from camping without the glamour and high fees of glamping.
