Best for self-contained campers. There are no toilets, showers, or potable water at this Hipcamp.
Deep Glen is a beautiful, quiet 5 acre property at Eaglehawk Neck, gateway to the stunning Tasman Peninsula. Hiking, surfing, fishing, swimming, diving are all at your doorstep, not to mention the famous Three Capes Track and the Port Arthur Historic site just a short drive away. If you want to see the coast shown in these photos, both the Tasman Island Cruise and Wild Ocean Tasmania offer excellent trips Bookings are for two adults; children under 16 are free. It may be possible for larger groups to occupy one site - please enquire before booking. As the site is teeming with wildlife including the barred bandicoot, we don't allow dogs. There are NO FACILITIES on the block so campers must have their own toilet. This is VERY important to note before you make a booking! There are good meals at the nearby Lufra Hotel and excellent coffee just up the road at the legendary Cubed Coffee van. We only make provision for two campsites so you'll never be crowded. Deep Glen is a sheltered site with ocean and coastal views. It's teeming with birdlife and nocturnal fauna. Nearby is the superb Pirates Bay with great swimming, surfing, diving, and fishing. There are many excellent walks in the area, ranging from very short and easy to long and strenuous. Site 2 (The Lanterns) is more sheltered but less level though still with great spots for your tent or vehicle. It is the area around the spreading blackwood trees, straight ahead as you enter. Each booking allows for two adults (plus children). More can be accommodated - please contact us for larger groups There are small piles of firewood around the place; please note these are the owners' property and not for free use. Wood may be ordered in advance or purchased on arrival You're welcome to explore the property and enjoy the flora and fauna. Right down in the far bottom corner is a gate onto Pirates Bay Drive and it's a pleasant 2km walk to the beach from there. Cubed Coffee up the road at the lookout has excellent coffee. They're open most days but Tuesdays from about 9 or 9.30. Daytime dining options include the Lufra Hotel down at the beach, the Blue Seal Cafe towards Taranna, and great fish and chips at Doolishus over near the jetty at Pirates Bay. Two places I'd recommend for a quality lunch are Bangor Wine and Oyster Shed back at Dunalley, and the Lavender Farm just before Pt Arthur. Happy camping!

Really great spot, sloping but enough level ground for our large tent. The wheelbarrow of firewood we bought was very generous (nice and dry). Stephen was a very welcoming and knowledgeable host - recommend!

Beautiful clean sight. Host Stephen helped us find the entrance in the dark. Could hear the ocean at night. Would stay again.

A well located and easy spot to find. A beautiful view through the trees to the ocean. There are birds and other wildlife to see. Stephen came to greet us and gave us some tips for the local area. We would stay here again 😊

Lovely spot and owners, however hardly a flat piece of ground on the side of the hill . The long drop was full when we visited .

Really peaceful spot, great for camper vans and tents. There were lots of wallabies around and a really quiet spot. Drop dunny was good to have. Stephen and Janelle were really helpful and gave useful information about the area.

We had a wonderful stay here. The space is very large and peaceful, so it felt very private and relaxing. Stephen and Janelle are incredibly kind and friendly hosts. They made us feel very welcome. Our family of three really enjoyed our time here. It was a beautiful place to stay and we would definitely recommend it.

Wonderful clean spot very friendly kind hosts. So much space we had the field to ourselves one night. We stayed an extra night it was so good, delicious coffee up the road, a long walk to the beach and port Arthur and definite visit.

We only spent one night at Stephen and Janelle’s place but would have gladly stayed longer! Stephen was very warm and welcoming, he came to greet us on arrival and gave great tips for locations to see/walk.

A beautiful spot, with amazing views and very welcoming hosts. For those with large (rental) RVs just be careful with the turn into the plot and the overhead branches, they have been trimmed back, but the path can still be quite tight.

Fantastic place to stay! Beautiful amongst the trees with all the wildlife. Be sure to pack away all food, the pademelons are clever. Stephen is a great host and gave great tips for surrounding areas. Cubed coffee up the road is a must try, best coffee I’ve had in Aus and has stunning views while you enjoy. Thank you Stephen, we’ll see you again 😄

Sloped site better for tents

Overall we had a good time (bushy outlook, cute wildlife, ocean glimpses) however we found the site to be quite sloped and not particularly appropriate for a caravan set up. We were supposed to set up at the thumbs but the car was showing a 10% decline down towards the road! We were nervous about even turning our caravan around on the thumbs site due to slope. The host agreed it was too steep at the thumbs and we were moved to the other side (the lanterns?) which was vacant but still quite sloped. We managed to get caravan flat enough with some rocks/timber acting as caravan levels. I think it wouldn’t have been as bad if most of the flat space wasn’t cordened off for an event, which we weren’t told about ahead of time. The entry gate was also really narrow and bushy so we sustained significant scratches to our caravan getting in and out of the tight entry.

Perfectly positioned campground!

Perfectly placed campground on the Tasman Peninsula, just above Pirates Bay. What we loved most was the two camp sites had plenty of space, and we didn't feel like we were crowded in. Easy access to each site, long drop toilet available, and a lovely area to explore. Cubed (retro coffee van) is a short walk away for a lazy start to Saturday and Sunday mornings. The 'best bang for buck' bushwalk to Waterfall Bluff is an easy 10 minute drive, and thoroughly recommended. We took our own firewood however the hosts can arrange this if you don't have your own supply. We fell asleep each night to the distant roar of waves, with the occasional hoot-hoot of an owl. Other visiting night-life included pademelons and bandicoots. Our hosts provided sound local knowledge, and we will definitely be back again.

Lovely peaceful spot

Quiet and peaceful spot with a far off view between the trees of the cliffs in the distance, a beautiful beach just down the hill and a drop toilet provided (we had our own bathroom in our camper so didn’t use it). We bought some wood and it was a very generous amount! Stephen was very friendly and had lots of good tips for walks to do nearby (we were there to walk Cape Huay). It was lovely!

Nice spot, but the view was more obstructed by the tree line than expected. The lack of a fire starter in the wood kit was a bit underwhelming. Clearer signposting of the two sites would make arrival easier.
