Weefarm Brisbane River Camping

9 sites · RVs, Tents2 acres · Fairney View, QLD
'Weefarm' is situated on a picturesque bend of the Brisbane River near Fernvale and is accessible by 4WD only. Kids are free to 17 so if you have children between 12-17, please include them in the "children" booking. We provide an exclusive booking for you on absolute river frontage for tents and camper trailers. Spend your time swimming, fishing, canoeing or simply sipping a cold drink on the pontoon under the umbrella. With an easterly aspect you’ll want to spend the morning swimming or exploring the riverscape and when the afternoon shade sets in light the campfire and put your feet up. There is no vehicular boat ramp but still excellent access for other small watercraft. Due to the steep track to the camp area we insist on 4WD’s only - though you can walk down if feeling energetic! Please bring drinking water and a desire to leave the riverside just as you found it. We have enough room for around 20 people in tents or camper trailers. Portaloo toilet available at the campsite. Campfires are permitted in the circle but please be mindful of any restrictions. You can purchase firewood from us if needed. Dogs are also welcome but must stay with you at all times. Please let us know they are coming as well.

Lake Hagislea Farm

1 site · RV80 acres · Haigslea, QLD
Exclusive private site on our 80acre WORKING* property just off the Warrego Highway at Haigslea. *(Please note as we are 1km off the highway there is subsequent highway noise, we are immune to it, but as anything, some people may notice more than others. We are a working small rural property so with that comes seasonal tractoring/trucks and an element of busy, depending on what projects are on the go! Real taste of rural life while being smack bang in the privacy and serenity of our buzzing property!) Private gate access for self check in and checkout. The large campsite is located alongside our 14 acre dam with a pontoon and dam banks to explore. The site is flat and mowed, with easy access from the road for caravans. The 'Quack shack" is home to our 12 friendly range Geese who spend their days exploring the banks or swimming on the water. The dam is perfect to launch a SUP/ canoe out on, float around on floaties and spot some turtles or eels. Great to swim in/ try your luck with a fishing rod, but NO JUMPING from the pontoon as water levels vary and submerged debris/ trees etc. (common sense swimming in dam and water sources.) The pontoon is perfect for evening sunsets (or a sneaky proposal, which has happened a few times already!) The recent addition of our feature windmill makes for gorgeous photos and country feels. The campsite is bordered by seasonal crops. We also have Cattle that rotate through different paddocks on the property, depending on feed and crop cycles. (Not all guests will have cattle about sorry kiddies!) **Pets welcome, but to remain under STRICT supervision. Not to chase cattle or our free range geese that call the campsite home.** Please be very conscious of this when thinking of bringing any animals as our geese wander around the dam perimeter and over to the campsite to say hi. (hand raised and friendly, just very vocal!) Our property is also home to the local remote controlled airplane club. Guests will be able to see them fly around of a weekend. You can watch from the campsite but we ask not to walk through the paddocks or approach the club. During weekday stays (and some weekends) you will have the pleasure to see fighter aircraft, KC-30s and the impressive C17 Globemasters doing some low flying and pass overs as we are just on the edge of the Amberley RAAF Base circuit area. This campsite suits self-contained campers who bring their own camping shower, and drinking water supply. A basic long drop outhouse is set up for guest use. Fire pit and picnic table for use. Please leave no trace and take all rubbish with you. An information email will be sent a few days prior to your arrival containing all your checkin and checkout information. Private caravan camping near Tamborine Mountain guide

Overview

Just a short drive from Brisbane and the Gold Coast, Tamborine Mountain is the star of the Gold Coast Hinterlands. Drive up into the mountains to explore the hinterland villages and artisan shops, stop for tastings at a boutique winery or coffee plantation, or browse the local farmer’s markets. Outdoor adventures can be found at every turn—hike to mountain lookouts in the Tamborine Mountain National Park, spot wildlife along the Tamborine Rainforest Skywalk, or admire the views at Witches Falls or Cedar Creek Falls. Camping options are dotted throughout the hinterlands, with everything from luxury glampsites to simple bush camping.

Where to go

Along the Gold Coast

The world-famous beaches of the Gold Coast are just a 40-minute drive from Tamborine Mountain. Check into a seafront campsite and spend your days swimming, surfing, and sunbathing along the sandy beaches, or head to Surfers Paradise to kayak around the waterways and experience the legendary nightlife. Family campers will find entertainment for all ages along the coast, from theme parks to wildlife sanctuaries.

Gold Coast Hinterlands

Tamborine Mountain is well-situated for exploring the surrounding hinterlands. Head south to hike in the Numinbah Valley and admire glow worms at the Natural Bridge in the Springbrook National Park. Or, for the ultimate hiking adventure, trek through UNESCO-listed rainforest and enjoy backcountry camping in the Lamington National Park.

Brisbane and the Islands

Urban campers have options in Brisbane, and the city makes a strategic basecamp for discovering the surrounding islands. Cruise out to North Stradbroke Island to pitch your tent on secluded beaches, or catch the ferry to Moreton Island to dive the Tangalooma Wrecks and drive along the beaches in a 4WD. Further north, Bribie Island is an idyllic escape for campers, with remote campsites reachable by boat and kayak.

When to go

Coastal campers looking to escape the summer heat will find temperatures slightly lower in the hinterlands, but expect high humidity and frequent showers from December through April. The winter months (June through August) are the most popular time to explore, with warm, mild weather ideal for hiking. Weekends are always busiest, and popular attractions can get crowded, but it’s still worth visiting at this time to enjoy the markets.

Know before you go

  • There is no camping in the Tamborine Mountain National Park. Camping permits are required to camp within Queensland’s national parks and must be reserved in advance.
  • There is no public transport to Tamborine Mountain, and you will need your own transport to explore the hinterlands and national parks.
  • Tamborine Mountain has a selection of shops, restaurants, and artisan producers, so you’ll have no problem finding options for eating and drinking. Gas stations and supermarkets are in the area, but for specialist camping gear, head to Brisbane or the Gold Coast.
  • Fire bans are common in Queensland during summer and dry periods, so be sure to check local recommendations and always use designated fire pits.
