So please respect it and enjoy it as we do. We have 5 designated campsites positioned around the property. Within the designated sites, there are camp spots that we rotate. Please check with us to see what ones are open. We need to rotate the sites and rest them. This is how we keep them well-maintained and looking amazing. If it is wet weather we will close down sites and recommend other spots. We pride our self’s on having a lovely property and want you to have an amazing camping experience. Welcome to our PECAN RIDGE campsite @ Commissioners Creek! The property is set at the foot of Mount Jerusalem National Park. Mountain-view camping site offer a peaceful escape, with cool, fresh air and the scent of pine. During the day, the mountains shift in the light, something sharp and bright, other times soft and blue. The highlight is the sunset, with the sky turning orange, pink, and purple as the sun sets behind the peaks. At night, the mountains stand under a starry sky, creating a calm, timeless atmosphere. Camping here isn't just about the view- it's about connecting with nature and enjoying the quiet moments. There is about a 20-minute bush walk to the mountain lookout near the campsite, where you can view the whole countryside from the lookout. There is a flushing toilet, shower, camp kitchen. * Power hook-up is available upon request for some sites at an ADDITIONAL COST of $10 per night for tents or $20 per night for caravans/camp-trailer which is payable in cash on ARRIVAL. Nimbin and its free outdoor swimming pool is a short 35 minute drive and the amazing Channon village, vintage pub and local waterfalls are just another 25 minutes further on.

Firstly not sure if I can sum up this HipCamp in such a small review. From first making the booking, before leaving and during my stay the communication was quick and all instructions were really clear. The property is stunning, well kept and the facilities are amazing. The shower/toilet is phenomenal, clean and everything you need. The camp kitchen with sink and power is a nice touch. Wood fire was filled with wood and all I had to do was light it. Would highly recommend staying here and look forward to coming again soon. In the top 3 Hipcamps I have stayed it (been using Hipcamp years).

My group and i loved camping here, its spacious, great views, and the owners are really nice. They had a dog who would play and hang out with us for hours everyday, and was not aggressive at all. They sell firewood and ice for a fair price and the amenities block (which had clean showers with hot water) isnt far from any of the campsites. They also had free drinking water at the campsites. Upon arrival the owners showed us some hiking trails, gave us some useful tips and a map for each of them as well as access to their free wifi. They also encouraged us to walk around and explore the area. Overall, it was a great spot to go to, we will be back here one day, i highly recommend.

The view is spectacular. Absolutely stunning. The campsite is incredible. We’ll set up with shade, fire pit, portaloo and cleared land, enough for plenty of tents, swags or camp trailers. The bath tub was amazing, nice and hot with the best view in the valley. Road in and out was a bit of fun. Easy enough for novice 4x4 drivers but not to be underestimated. We had an amazing stay and will definitely be doing it again.

Beautiful campsite with some of the best views we experienced in the region. Amenities were clean, practical, and appreciated after long days exploring. A short drive to Christmas Creek where you can swim in the creek. Sites are spaced well apart. Highly recommend having experience with a proper 4wd though. Ruts are deep and the journey up to the look out isn’t for a basic road vehicle with highway tires… lots of birds, butterflies and kangaroos 🥰

Where to go

Along the Gold Coast

The world-famous beaches of the Gold Coast are just a 40-minute drive from Tamborine Mountain. Check into a seafront campsite and spend your days swimming, surfing, and sunbathing along the sandy beaches, or head to Surfers Paradise to kayak around the waterways and experience the legendary nightlife. Family campers will find entertainment for all ages along the coast, from theme parks to wildlife sanctuaries.

Gold Coast Hinterlands

Tamborine Mountain is well-situated for exploring the surrounding hinterlands. Head south to hike in the Numinbah Valley and admire glow worms at the Natural Bridge in the Springbrook National Park. Or, for the ultimate hiking adventure, trek through UNESCO-listed rainforest and enjoy backcountry camping in the Lamington National Park.

Brisbane and the Islands

Urban campers have options in Brisbane, and the city makes a strategic basecamp for discovering the surrounding islands. Cruise out to North Stradbroke Island to pitch your tent on secluded beaches, or catch the ferry to Moreton Island to dive the Tangalooma Wrecks and drive along the beaches in a 4WD. Further north, Bribie Island is an idyllic escape for campers, with remote campsites reachable by boat and kayak.

When to go

Coastal campers looking to escape the summer heat will find temperatures slightly lower in the hinterlands, but expect high humidity and frequent showers from December through April. The winter months (June through August) are the most popular time to explore, with warm, mild weather ideal for hiking. Weekends are always busiest, and popular attractions can get crowded, but it’s still worth visiting at this time to enjoy the markets.

Know before you go

There is no camping in the Tamborine Mountain National Park. Camping permits are required to camp within Queensland’s national parks and must be reserved in advance.
There is no public transport to Tamborine Mountain, and you will need your own transport to explore the hinterlands and national parks.
Tamborine Mountain has a selection of shops, restaurants, and artisan producers, so you’ll have no problem finding options for eating and drinking. Gas stations and supermarkets are in the area, but for specialist camping gear, head to Brisbane or the Gold Coast.
Fire bans are common in Queensland during summer and dry periods, so be sure to check local recommendations and always use designated fire pits.
