We spent hours canoeing and hanging out with the horses and we’ll be back again soon x
We only planned to stay at Jalum for one night, but we loved it so much we ended up staying another night! It’s such a beautiful and peaceful place, and the kids really enjoyed it too. Karen was lovely and very welcoming. So glad we found this spot and would definitely stay again!

Friendly horses and an alpaca/guard dog wondering around the property that are very happy to come close for a pat. Kids loved it.

Fantastic quick getaway for our family. Fishing and kayaking was great fun, the horses were a huge highlight, super friendly sharing their paddocks with us, very grateful for Karen to share her slice of paradise 😁
Stunning location, great camp hosts, with beautiful horses
Had a fantastic weekend away at Karen's place. The property is beautiful and so was the room we stayed in - clean, well set up and a great indoor space with fireplace , seating area and kitchen to use. Karen was such a lovely host and really made my birthday weekend special. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a getaway - only 1.5 hours from Brisbane, but feels like you are worlds away. Just down the road from murwillimbah, pottsville and Byron. We did the rail trail via ebike which is just down the road. Will definitely be back.

It was a very nice farm with lots of horses, ponies and an alpaca! There’s lots of space to set up and the views are beautiful. Karen was lovely. There’s some highway noise so it doesn’t feel super secluded, but it didn’t really bother us. We enjoyed our stay and the location was great.

Fantastic, relaxing and quiet spot. Spacious sites with views of the hills and dams. Special favourite was the horses on the property
We camped there for 3 nights in July, as a family with 4 and 8 yr old kids.
Positives : loads of free space. Gated and with bob the alpaca as security. Horses were free roaming and friendly. First thing the kids wanted to do every day was to pet them.
Since there are no squared out spaces to set your tent, we had a lot of space to set up.
Toilet and shower was clean and hot water available all the time.
This used to be a fish farm, and there are quite a few ponds that can be used for fishing. Although we did not manage to get any, a neighbour suggested chicken fillet as ideal bait.
Karen has a person who manages the farm. She was astounding. Available at anytime, master of all trades and took the kiddos on the quadmobile for a trip around the farm a coupla times.
The night view of the milky way was beautiful.
A quick drive away from major beaches in the tweedheads area. Day trips sorted.
Negatives
Too close to the motorway. It’s loud throughout the night. I am a deep sleeper but was still bothered by the noise.
There’s horse poop everywhere (but this is a farm), this did not bother us, but something to be aware of.
The shower and toilets are at the top of the farm hill. Is a considerable trek to get there esp at night. Will need to drive if you camp at the bottom of the farm.
The horses do come and nosey in your kitchen or cooking space early in the morning (again, this is a farm). They ate out potatoes and rummaged through the bin bag on the first morning.
Karen was really welcoming at “check in”. She explained everything well and said if we need anything, just to call her or text her. The land was beautiful. A real heaven for my kids who love fishing and horses. Toilet and shower was at Karen’s house which was a small walk away from our spot. Her house also had games that we enjoyed playing with the kids. Close to the beach and other lovely spots, we are already planning to come back ! Thank you, we really enjoyed the stay.

Awesome place to stay! Camping areas are well kept and mostly flat with good views of the little valley and dams. Communal area and toilets are very clean. Would recommend hiring ebikes from mooball and doing the rail trail to Murwillumbah and back! We will be heading back again ❤️ hopefully get a better chance to wet a line next time 😁
Karen is an exceptional host, knowledgeable kind and a cute little dog. 😄
Loved the options of camp spots and the horse, llama and bird life. Wedgetail eagle is crossing high above. Loved the space, would've stayed so much longer. But had a family urgency to attend to. ♥️

We camped beside one of the six ponds and enjoyed the serenity, the horses and the llama. Karen was very helpful and friendly. It would be a great spot for anyone who is self-contained as the toilet and shower is up the hill at her place. We managed just fine though! The night sky under our camp fire was very special.. thanks Karen
Loved the animals! Heaps of friendly horses that love a pat, some cattle and even an alpaca that was really interested in our 2 little Jack Russells. Beautiful place with a couple of dams just be aware that you need to arrive before dark.

Great little patch next to a dam. Lots of friendly horses and pony’s for the kids. Beautiful northern rivers location.
Had a wonderful stay with Karen at Jalum Farm! Loved the free ranging horses and alpaca, they were so nice to wake up to and the ammenities and general use area are incredible. Karen and (I’m so sorry I cant quite recall the lovely other women’s name but believe it started with S) were fantastic and the most welcoming faces on arrival. Would and will definitely be back! Thanks again!

There appears to have been a misunderstanding regarding the generator rules. The listing indicated generator use was allowed, so my parents, who had a separate booking, used one. This led to us being asked to leave early, although the host did provide a partial refund.
There were also instructions to enter via the left gate, however this was easy to miss as the gate was closed and appeared to be part of the fence.
Overall, it seems this came down to a miscommunication around the generator policy and property access.

Loved the place so.pretty friendly owner farm animals everywhere it was an experience.
Beautiful spot to camp, the views are gorgeous and the animals so friendly and inquisitive! Allowed campfires but bring own wood
There is facilities (toilet and shower) but they are up at Karen’s house so little bit of a walk (or short drive if you aren’t in a rooftop tent like us)
Perfect for a one night little getaway
10 min drive from Pottsville beach
The main road is not too far away so unfortunately you can hear it a bit, not toooo great for really light sleepers but for us it didn’t bother us too much!

Beautiful camp, lots of beautiful locations to choose from, plenty of room to spread out.
Great base to explore the Gold Coast, Tweed Heads and Byron bay.
Fantastic host, Karen was easy to get along with and the women who greeted us on arrival ( sorry I forgot your name 😞 ) was super helpful and friendly.
Animals are super friendly, kids loved patting the horses.
Front gate would be a challenge with larger caravans or vehicles, its reasonably tight and very close to the road.
Not much room to stop, open the gate and then get your rig through.
Was reasonably easy with our small caravan but would definitely prove a challenge with anything larger.
Would definitely recommend this hipcamp regardless as we loved it.
Would happily go back.

We had an amazing time at Karen’s place, there was so much room and we were nowhere near other campers. The horses were so friendly and came right up to us, they also loved pats. Karen was so lovely and dropped off goodies for us. Amazing location - the Northern Rivers Rail Trail is accessible from Mooball and is great to cycle along. Also super close to Pottsville & the beach, as well as Brunswick Heads and Byron Bay. We would love to stay here again!

Great for us, as we are just starting out in our camping adventures. Very friendly hosts and the location is great. Kayak's in the pond, swimming and fishing, overall a really relaxing place to stay. The horses said hello on our pack down and departure.

Absolutely love this place the views and the animals made this magical experience. Highly recommend will be returning!!
We loved that the horses joined us for our morning coffee and the campsite is so close to the beach where we went fishing and also got pipis for dinner :)
Karen is also a very lovely and friendly host!
