Wind through the picturesque sugarcane fields of South Ballina where you will find us on our 60 acre property with spectacular ocean views, beautiful native bushland and Australian wildlife. Sugar Beach Ranch is one of the most secluded treasures in the Northern Rivers, only 40 mins from Byron Bay NSW and within 30 mins to Ballina, Bangalow and surrounding scenic waterfalls. The property offers a two-bedroom bungalow and a secluded campsite for self-contained campers, in addition to our other variety of services including retreats, equine therapy, weddings and venue hire. Our property is surrounded by the crystal clear ocean, a beautiful rural outlook and rainforest walks. Sugar Beach Ranch offers you a private and picturesque beachfront experience. Simply put it's ‘Nature’s Playground’. Sugar Beach Ranch is a special place... a place of relaxation and reflection. We want guests to enjoy the break away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Wake up to songs of native birds. Bring your own horse, guitar, or your writing book and loll away the hours nurturing your soul in paradise. All guests have shared access to the 15m resort-style magnesium pool and direct beach access from the property. We are a wildlife sanctuary and an operating farm with horses, chickens, ducks, pigeons and a peacock. There are dogs on the property to protect the chickens and other animals from predators, so please don’t bring any pets of your own. Enjoy Sugar Beach Ranch with your horse, bring them along for the holiday, and plenty of beach and trail rides. Paddock accommodation available. As we are located in the secluded and sleepy cane fields of South Ballina there is limited access to shops, cafes, restaurants, etc. The Burns Point Ferry is the best way to get to us, it runs from 5:30am until 12.30am daily, consistently running back and forth. An approx. 8min journey each way and costs $.00 each way, payable by credit card only. So you can easily go into Ballina town for all shops, cafes, restaurants, etc. If the ferry isn't for you, you can drive to Ballina via Wardell on River Drive. The bungalow is located approx. 25m from the main residence, and the campsite is located approx. 300m from the main residence tucked away in the paddocks and forest. We are onsite and available if needed. Sugar Beach Ranch is an operating farm with staff onsite caring for animals and maintaining the grounds. All care is taken to ensure minimal disruption to guests.Sugar Beach Ranch sits on 60 acres and has a roomy, family orientated camping area for you to enjoy peace, privacy and idyllic country life. Sugar Beach Ranch was an absolute dream. It was private and secluded, a stones throw from the beach and a magnesium pool. The site facilities included a drop loo, rubbish, recycling and compost. The spot was well maintained. We loved hearing and seeing the horses in neighbouring paddocks. We will be back.

The camping and property was amazing, Stevey was so nice and friendly. The area is beautiful, the horses are so friendly and cute, (don’t forget your carrots they love a snack). The beach is about a 600m walk but is amazing and quiet, and can hear it through out the night. The wildlife was amazing and a wonderful way to connect with nature and disconnect. Would recommend to anyone, the ferry can be a bit of a wait some times but it is quicker. The toilet was clean and did not smell, and Stevey even got us a fire pit to use. Amazing place would return.

What a great camp site! The location is incredible. We loved that there is only a large single site. This gave us the opportunity to spread out, and not worry about making noise that could inconvenience others. The site itself has lush thick grass, a toilet, running water (not drinkable) and bins. Literally ticking every box. A short walk to a beautiful beach and access to a massive swimming pool. Beauty all around us with horses and nature. Our children had the best time and so did we! What more could you ask for?

Thank you Stevey & Nick for sharing your amazing property. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Sugar Beach Ranch. Lovely drive by the river to get to its beautiful location! We love that there is only 1 site! It felt so good to be surrounded by the beautiful horses. The property is beachfront, I thought the site was closer to the beach but in saying that it, it was only a short walk from the campsite & it was very windy that wkend so good to be protected at our site. It wasn’t swimmable on our visit possibly due to recent inclement weather. The amazing pool more than made up for that anyway! It is on the pricey side for a campsite but we justified it for a special occasion plus only 1 site, close to the beach & has a pool! There is good phone reception. Toilet on site (not that we used it as had our own)! The property is about half an hour from Ballina itself unless taking the ferry back & forth (for a fee). Hope to be back again one day!

We had such a great stay here. The location is amazing with access to both the beach and the land so you really get the best of both worlds. It felt very private and peaceful, which we loved. Having a toilet and bins available was a great bonus and made the stay even more comfortable. The horses were also great to have around they were so friendly and really added to the whole atmosphere. Would definitely recommend!

We really loved our 5 nights at Sugar Beach Ranch. The location is awesome and so pretty. We also loved hearing the horses galloping around. The camp spot itself was also really good. Plenty of options on where to setup and was flat. Really handy having the toilet and also bins. The beach being just up the path was nice and being able to use the pool was the cherry on top. Communication with Stevey was also really good. Highly recommend this spot & we look forward to returning in the future.

Fantastic location and host. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and the banana bread is as good as everybody says made extra special for my birthday. We enjoyed the isolation and nature, it’s a very special spot and thanks to Stevey for sharing it.

Loved every minute of it! Perfect get away with my daughter and granddaughter and our horses! Excellent large paddock for the horses; direct beach access with no roads to cross. Quiet and peaceful. The pool was fabulous and a friendly helpful host. We will be back.

A beachfront paradise

Sugar beach ranch is a really special place. Right on the beach with gorgeous forest and horse paddocks surrounding. The campsite is lovely with nice shady trees, toilet and water. I took my horse for a horse stay which was awesome for sunrise and sunset rides. It’s a nice spot with a horse or without. The pool is lovely too. Hosts were lovely and helpful. Highly recommend!

My partner and I stayed here for a week, and it was such a peaceful and relaxing getaway. We were surrounded by beautiful horses and treated to stunning sunrises and sunsets each day. Simply stunning!

Wow! Just us, the horses and the beach. Met Stevey the 1st day. Warm and welcoming and I must say a big thanks to you Stevey for sharing your little spot of paradise. The camp spot was flat, grassy and private. Clean toilet provided and fresh water that you can hook your van up to if you want (we didn't). At night it's just you and the horses. Then day time all the friendly horse people are tending to their passions and giving you a friendly hello. Then to top it off you grab your Esky and fishing rod and head to the beach 500 metres away. Patting the horses along the way. When you get to the beach you are virtually the only one there. This spot is definitely in our top 3. We will be back with family and friends for sure.

Nice, secluded campsite surrounding by trees and horses. A short stroll to the main house and shared pool and then another few minutes to the beach. The wind was crazy when we were there so we ended up driving 10min into Ballina for protected beaches which were nice. We didn't get to meet the host but he helpers and kids were very friendly. Thanks for having us.

Sugar Beach Ranch is a must!!!!! Wow, we were blown away by this stay, our fave Hipcamp stay by far. So peaceful secluded, tidy, friendly and welcoming. The whole experience was unbelievable and the pool is divine. Our day was perfect and we all left feeling very relaxed and rejuvenated. All of the staff on the ranch were very accommodating and very friendly to our two small children that absolutely loved going and seeing the horses every morning. Could not recommend it high enough. Thank you so much for having us!
