We do not accommodate large groups as our focus is peace, relaxation and family friendly. The property is home to an abundance of wildlife including kangaroos, wallabies, native birds and reptiles. There are also a lot of wombats so stay on the track and look for burrows. There are many activities to enjoy including kayaking, fishing, swimming, bush walking, bird watching and 15kms of mountain bike trails. We are pet friendly, please remember to have your pets protected against ticks. You will need to be self-contained with own camping toilet, shower and water. Please DO NOT dig toilet hole, even though you leave it covered, it doesn't take long for the foxes to dig it up and leave a real mess!! Campfires permitted in designated areas. There is mobile reception. No shooting, archery or hunting. No trail bikes. Do not damage trees, there is plenty of firewood on the ground. Don't forget your mozzie repellent. With a fire pit just outside for toasting of marshmallows this makes for the best camping spot in the region. 100 acres of secluded paradise with a kilometer of free flowing pebbled creek. Bound on two sides by the craggy escarpments of the Budgong and Morton National Parks there is ample grassland to give a feeling of space yet an abundance of trees to wander through as you engage with the tame wildlife and magnificent birdlife. Bring your mountain bike, fishing rod, swimmers, hiking boots, tennis racket, basketball (a hoop on the tennis court) or climbing gear and leave the kids in the play area while you sit by the creek and listen to the water tumbling through the rocks. If you are as intrigued by rare animals as we are, then this is the place for you. 63 Bird species, 24 mammals, 16 reptiles, and 12 amphibians have been sighted in the area (Clarke 2012) and this includes many rare and endangered species including the platypus, brush-tailed rock wallaby, Giant burrowing frog, Gang-gang cockatoo, Glossy black-cockatoo, Koala, Little Lorikeet and the Yellow-bellied glider. We only have five campsites at present, so you will be guaranteed peace, space and privacy. with a minimum of 300m between all sites. Please note, that your group must be self-contained, with their own camp toilet, however fresh drinking water is available. Access is into a valley on a well maintained unsealed road but there are some minor causeways making it unsuitable for busses or long low slung vans. An ordinary sedan will do for Billabong and Dad's camp sites but you will need some power for towing and a 4x4 to tow out in any rain. Riverbend and the Crossing sites are only suitable for 4x4's and off-road vans / trailers. Beautiful Coastal farmland near to Mimosa Rocks National Parks. Easy to access. Close to stunning townships of Bermagui just 15mins north and Tathra 30mins south. Observe an abundance of wildlife - spot an eagle, kangaroo, wallaby, possum, goanna, wombat or whale! Surf or swim any of the amazing beaches or lagoons -Bunga, Hidden Valley, Arraganuu, Bithry, Cuttagee, Camel Rock, Horseshoe Bay or Blue Pool. Walk the dog at Beares beach in Bermagui or Cuttagee beach, 10mins drive north. This is an incredible coastline to explore. Enjoy local fresh produce from Bermagui farmers market in summer on Thursday afternoons; Saturday market at Honorbread courtyard; fresh seafood either catch yourself or purchase from Bermagui Fishermans Wharf. There is a little shed on this patch of land and campers have access to an undercover area off the side of the shed plus half of the inside area of the shed not being used for storage. There is a rainwater tank at the back of the shed. A nice, new compost toilet faces into the bush, we no longer use the one at the back of the shed. To locate when heading south on Tathra -Bermagui Rd , Turn left into Hergenhans Rd which is approx 14km south of Bermagui, then left into Wrens Rd (Goalen N Rd on google maps) , follow Wrens Rd about 800m and you'll see a gateway on your right with Hipcamp sign (Bunga Summit). It is opposite gateway on left with Lot 3 sign. The next gate is padlocked where the shed is. To access Bunga Beach, continue along Wrens Rd through neighbouring properties. The road has recently been resurfaced so is now accessible with 2WD. This is National Park so you can't have dogs here. To access Back Bunga Beach continue along Hergenhans Rd and left onto O'sheas Rd which is also a good accessible road. taking you through neighbouring properties and ending at Mimosa Rocks National Park. This is an amazing walk from the carpark south along the beach to Hidden Valley. For dog walking beaches head to Cuttagee just 10mins north towards Bermagui, or Beares Beach in Bermagui. For injured wildlife or any wombats with mange around the campsite please phone my neighbour Sara as she volunteers for Wildlife Rescue South Coast. Really amazing private riverside camping spot for a peaceful two-night escape. ‘Water Dragon’ felt secluded and quiet even though there are other camp sites around. We were really lucky as we had the whole camping ground to ourselves which was a really special treat. Just the sound of the water and birds and some kangaroos and wombats to keep us company. The location was perfect for our short getaway: relaxing during the day, starry nights, and a genuine sense of being away from everything. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a simple, private, nature-focused camping experience. Bill and Michelle were great hosts. We ordered the wood bundle and Bill was so generous we had loads of wood left over after our two night stay. Thanks so much for such a fabulous weekend - We’ll certainly be back!

The campsite offered plenty of space and the portable toilets were clean . My son had a lovely time walking around the property and going for a dip in the river

Loved our stay here. Wish we could have stayed longer but will definitely be back. Awesome amount of privacy. Once we got to our site we didn't see a single person after until we left. Plenty of wombats, kangaroos and wallabies.

Where to go

Illawara

On the Illawara Coast, Shellharbour is home to the National Surfing Reserve of Killalea, and the area is also a favourite of snorkellers and divers who can explore the many shipwrecks and marine life-filled underwater cliffs. Beachfront and just a short walk from the centre, various tourist parks offer a range of accommodation including powered sites, ensuite cabins, and self-contained beachside cottages. A little farther south, Killalea State Park has a secluded camping area in the park’s grassy meadows with access to facilities including toilets, hot showers, and an undercover electric barbecue area.

Shoalhaven Coast

Another favourite among surfers and divers, the Shoalhaven Coast is also known as a wine-growing region and for the powder-white sands, crystalline waters, and whale- and dolphin-spotting opportunities of Jervis Bay. Within Booderee National Park at Jervis Bay, the Cave Beach camping area offers some of Australia’s best secluded beach camping with access to cold showers and barbecues. Farther south, beachfront caravan sites and campgrounds in Murramarang National Park let you can camp alongside resident kangaroos.

Eurobodalla Coast

The Eurobodalla Coast is home to the seaside town of Batemans Bay, famed for its fresh seafood, particularly oysters, as well as the Clyde River National Park, where you can go bushwalking, kayaking, and fishing. Just south of town, Batemans Bay holiday parks offer villas as well as powered sites with access to laundry facilities and BBQ areas. Farther south, Tuross Head is perched on a headland between two tidal lakes, making it the perfect spot for kayaking, fishing, boating, and swimming. Look out for peaceful holiday units, plus powered and unpowered caravan and camping sites with ocean views and easy access to the beach and lake.

Sapphire Coast

At the southern end of the NSW coast, the tranquil Sapphire Coast is home to the small town of Eden, one of the best places in Australia to spot humpback whales on their annual migration from May through September. Just outside town, waterfront holiday parks offer large powered and unpowered caravan sites, as well as a range of cabins, with access to camp kitchens. Forty minutes north, rustic Hobart Beach Campground in Bournda National Park has unpowered sites that make the perfect base for swimming, hiking, and exploring nearby secluded beaches.
