Welcome to our 20-acre working farm between Ulladulla & Nowra, NSW South Coast—under 3 hrs from Sydney/Canberra. Authentic bush vibes: open paddocks or shady trees; a short walk to a quiet creek. Spot kookaburras, wallabies, wombats, plus our farm mates: cows, chickens, & Elmo the horse! 🐄🐔🐴 An ideal weekend getaway or Jervis Bay stopover. We keep it peaceful, family-friendly & private—space for everyone, minimal neighbour impact. Self-sufficient: pack out all rubbish & follow Leave No Trace to protect wildlife & our land. 🌍 Booking & Site Rules 🚐 • Noisy, disruptive, drunken or antisocial behaviour? You’ll be asked to leave immediately—no refund. 🚫 • No group bookings—keep it mellow! 😌 • One family/primary vehicle setup per site only. • Permitted: 1 vehicle + 1 caravan/camper trailer/motorhome, OR solo motorhome/campervan. • 1 extra vehicle (car/small 4WD) OK at added cost—tell us when booking. • No extra caravans/trailers/motorhomes—book a separate site after checking with Christine. • Check-in & check-out times are strictly enforced to allow time for cleaning and maintenance between guests. Early or late check-out options are available when booking, so we can manage changeovers smoothly. • Respect wildlife, neighbours & animals 🦉: Quiet hours 9 pm–7 am (crickets & kookaburras rule! 🌙), secure food/rubbish, no feeding/approaching wildlife. Low lights, stay on your own site. • Pets are welcome but supervised around farm animals & wildlife. 🐕 • Fires allowed in provided firepits (check danger ratings)—gather fallen wood or buy at gate $20! 🔥🪵 • Fresh free-range eggs $7/dozen—text for drop-off! 🥚🚗 We enjoy limited phone reception; 2WD is usually fine, but 4WD may be needed in wet weather. Mind wombat holes, stumps & snakes when exploring. Come for the quiet retreat or quick bush escape—we look forward to hosting you! ✨

Rain Bird is named after the kookaburra, often called the “rain bird” for its laughing call before the rain. The site is set up in a retro Toyota HiAce van, making it ideal for those who don’t have their own gear but still want the camping experience. Guests will need to bring their own sleeping gear, but everything else is ready for a simple, comfortable stay. Rainbird has draw fridge, gas cooktop and grill, cooking equipment, sink and water tank. Located on our working farm, you’ll be surrounded by grazing cows and Elmo the horse, with the creek and bush close by to explore. A relaxed and easy getaway with a natural farm feel.

“Good Luck”
Kookaburra was a beautiful camping spot hidden just off the highway. The property is very serene. Amenities were clean and tidy as were all the camp sites. There is plenty of space between sites aswell so it feels like your own little private getaway. Cows are friendly too. Christine was a great host!

Rain Bird
We enjoyed our stay at Rainbird, the campervan was well equipped with blankets and basic essentials that made our stay cozy and relaxed. The scenery was gorgeous and our host Christine was quick to help when our water ran out and she also recommended a nice bushwalk not too far away. We're keen to come back and stay at this little gem soon! Thanks Christine and fam :)

Christine's farm is conveniently located a bit off the highway which was great for us to get back on the road whilst not hearing cars pass by. The cows on the farm are fun to watch. One thing to be aware of is the cows can be making quite loud calls throughout the night - though this comes part in parcel with farm camping.

We had an absolutely wonderful weekend at The Cackle. If you are looking to ground yourself in nature and escape the hustle and bustle for a few days, this private bush escape is the perfect spot. The cleared paddock area is spacious and beautifully surrounded by towering gum trees. A huge plus was that the site was still wonderfully shady right up until we packed up at checkout! Just a heads-up for future campers: the internet is quite patchy out here, but it’s the perfect excuse to fully disconnect. We spotted multiple wombat holes around the place, which was a fantastic reminder of how immersed in nature you really are! As the sun sets, an amazing mist rolls over the fields which is absolutely beautiful to watch, but IT GETS COLD! Definitely pack extra warm layers and blankets. Once the night settles in, the stars are absolute magic ✨ Our dog loved relaxing with us, and watching the nearby cows graze added a lovely rustic charm. You definitely need a proper AWD/4WD to access the site, but that just ensures you get the quiet seclusion you came for. We left feeling completely refreshed!

I enjoyed staying at the Bushman's Clock with my son. It was a well maintained camp-site and it felt very private. We had some beautiful fog roll in during the late afternoon which was quite remarkable. The only issue was you can hear the road from the camp site (particularly truck's compression brakes).

We absolutely loved camping at Kookaburra farm. Our site was spacious and a good distance away from other site so we felt very comfortable. And our kids had lots of fun exploring around and collecting sticks & bark for our fire. Also great to have a toilet near by which was clean and well kept. Stargazing by the fire was spectacular. Highly recommend. We'll definitely be back ! 🏕️✨

Beautiful little spot on the south coast, just off the highway but far enough way that you don’t hear any traffic. Beautiful grass area to set up and plenty of room between sites. Nearby pit toilet is clean and all you need. Would highly recommend.

Kookaburra is a gorgeous site

Our second time at Kookaburra was as lovely as our first. The site is really flat with soft grass and there's a good amount of space between each one. It's also easy to find your site at night, which is really helpful when arriving in the dark during winter. Christine has firewood and fresh eggs available which are such lovely touches. We look forward to our next visit.

Really enjoyed our stay. Easy to find, very kid friendly, great directions, sites were extremely well kept, toilet clean, friendly animals, plenty of wombats and possums to see at night, awesome walk along the creek if you feel adventurous, dogs had a great stay also.
