Nestled right up against the escarpment at an elevation of 450m, this high-end, off-grid 40 acre property effectively offers your own private slice of Macquarie Pass National Park - amazing views, giant cedar trees, fern forests, cascading waterfalls and palms surround. It feels remote but it's only 90 min from Sydney, 30 min to Kiama and just 15 min to the shops. The property also offers the only hiking path up to the top of the escarpment for some truly amazing views. As of September 2025, many of the trails on the property have been degraded by the rains and are now challenging for 2WD cars. If you're towing or it's wet we recommend AWD or 4WD vehicles. Since this is coastal rainforest and it has been very wet, expect leeches anywhere it is damp. These are easily kept at bay with deet and or trousers tucked into socks. We're not particularly price sensitive - until all those rate rises - but we are extremely value sensitive so we set out to make your stay extremely good value for your hard earned money. The land itself does most of the heavy lifting but also personal service and of course there's Lana to fall in love with. Note, Mellows Rd is 2.6km long and rises 400m - in parts the road is a 15 degree grade. It's all paved but narrow so if you are towing a large heavy load, it's going to strain your car.

Located just one hour from Sydney, our property features 19 acres of pure serenity with two dams and one large enough to kayak on (kayaks supplied). The back of the property is perfect for camping and suitable for a small to medium caravan/camper. The larger dam has a picnic area and kayaks available to paddle on. Adjoining our property is Nattai National Park with a lovely 20 minute walk down to Little River. The Aqua Pool Trail in the National Park is just gorgeous. If you wish to try and catch some yabbies from the dams the only allowable and fun way is by a long stick and sausage. Hooks, fishing lines and traps are not allowed as we have people, dogs and horses swimming in the dams. We welcome self-contained campers who bring their shower/toilet set up. We do have two drop pit toilets available and each campsite has a pit fire provided. We are getting low on firewood so you will need to bring some along with you. There is access to drinking water. Our property is 2WD accessible and can accommodate small caravans and camper trailers. Not far from Buxton is Thirlmere where the Steam Train Museum is and train rides are available on the weekends, a great activity for the kids. Thirlmere Lakes National Park is perfect for a relaxing picnic, walk, birdwatching, and glimpse into locomotive history. Mittagong and Bowral have great wineries with restaurant/bistro. Pets are welcome. There's a range of different bushwalking trails in the region, including Starlights trail, a scenic bushwalk suited to experienced hikers, which forms part the Greater Blue Mountains trail network between Mittagong and Katoomba.

Firewood is not provided so please bring your own. There’s plenty of room for mountain bike riding, and bushwalking with many beautiful walking trails. Yerrinbool is 1 hour from Sydney and a great spot to spend a weekend away, 15 mins from Bowral and 10 mins to Mittagong There are animals on the farm including ducks, chickens, goats, sheep and sometimes even baby cows. The property does need a little clean up but the rear of the property is nice and tranquil. We are directly next to the HWY so sometimes there is road noise, but it's a great location for an easy stopover. Easy access for caravans, keeping in mind the weather as like in all areas it becomes soft when wet. Please note, while we do permit more than one car per site booking, we only allow 1 caravan per site. So if you are in a group with more than 1 caravan, you will need to book multiple sites. Any questions, please let us know. We have Fire Pits in key locations around the farm PLEASE DO NOT move them as they signify each spot for camping. They have allocated spots and we do not need them moved. We also have a toilet in a small shed in the rear paddock for people who are using tents. Also when you come to the campsite please insure that when using the toilet to keep it clean as it is a bush toilet. Water to flush the toilet is in a tank behind the shed and if your a male please use a tree for number 1. We want to minimise flushes where possible, please keep clean for the next camper. and water is at the front of the property, if you're required to fill your tanks or rinse off. We have two dams with yabbies you are welcome to collect. If you do collect some please be respectful in the amounts you collect and also throw some raw meat and or frozen veggies like peas and corn into the dam to provide food for the others to grow. Firewood is available to purchase at time of booking - see Extras. Or speak to myself upon arrival.

120 mountain acres set in the magical Wombeyan Caves area, 20 minutes away from the very popular Wombeyan Caves and campground. Magnificent 270 degree views with many high vantage points. Incredibly private and secluded and perfect for a quiet getaway from the hustle and bustle. Plenty of wildlife (Kangaroos, Wallabies, Lace Monitors, Koalas, variety of birds such as the resident Wedge Tail Eagles. There is an outdoor hot shower over a big cast iron bathtub and a very basic flushing bush toilet. There is not much flat land so this stay is more to relax, unwind around a fire and soak in the peace. Taralga is 30 minutes away. NOTE: There is 15km of quite remote dirt road that is quite rough in some spots. Low cars not recommended. 2WD vehicles ok unless heavy rain. Campfires permitted in a designated areas when restrictions aren't in place. Dogs welcome. No loud music as it carries through the valley and we get reported. :( Final Notes: It can get ferociously windy! Please check wind forecast before booking in to avoid disappointment. Anything above 14kms can be unpleasant. The property is still a work in progress, so some areas have not been completed and on-site caravans unavailable for use however their undercover areas are welcomed to be used.

100 acres of secluded paradise with a kilometer of free flowing pebbled creek. Bound on two sides by the craggy escarpments of the Budgong and Morton National Parks there is ample grassland to give a feeling of space yet an abundance of trees to wander through as you engage with the tame wildlife and magnificent birdlife. Bring your mountain bike, fishing rod, swimmers, hiking boots, tennis racket, basketball (a hoop on the tennis court) or climbing gear and leave the kids in the play area while you sit by the creek and listen to the water tumbling through the rocks. If you are as intrigued by rare animals as we are, then this is the place for you. 63 Bird species, 24 mammals, 16 reptiles, and 12 amphibians have been sighted in the area (Clarke 2012) and this includes many rare and endangered species including the platypus, brush-tailed rock wallaby, Giant burrowing frog, Gang-gang cockatoo, Glossy black-cockatoo, Koala, Little Lorikeet and the Yellow-bellied glider. We only have three campsites at present, so you will be guaranteed peace, space and privacy. with a minimum of 400m between all sites. Please note, that your group must be self-contained, with their own camp toilet, however fresh drinking water is available. Access is into a valley on a well maintained unsealed road but there are some minor causeways making it unsuitable for busses or long low slung vans. An ordinary sedan will do for Billabong and Dad's camp sites but you will need some power for towing and a 4x4 to tow out in any rain. Riverbend site is only suitable for 4x4's and off-road camp trailers. We had a fabulous time away at the crossing. Nice and peaceful with nice warm fires every night. Managed the causeway both directions, just have to take a wider swing at it if towing a decent sized van. We'll be back.

We had an amazingly peaceful weekend at the Riverbend camp. It was a fun drive in with our off-road caravan. The weekend went way too quickly though - filled with cold dips in the nearby swim spot, warm bath, and nice little hike up the hill.

Camped at Paddock 2. There was plenty of flat ground to pitch the tent and the friendly locals kept the kids entertained. The property was amazing with really good ammenities and great views of the Gorge. We will be back but for longer than 1 night next time.

Weekend Trip to Misty Mountain Farm - Farm Stay

Amazing stay at Misty Mountain Farm Stay 🌿🐴🐄 Beautiful spacious campsites with plenty of room and privacy — and when we visited it was nice and quiet. Waking up surrounded by horses, cows and rolling farmland was something special. One of the best parts was being able to walk to Coolangatta Estate Winery for a wine tasting 🍷 and then head to the dog-friendly Seven Mile Beach just 5 minutes away so Dash could run around and enjoy himself too 🐶 Had an amazing time and will definitely be back again.

2 nights at Wombat Hollow

We loved staying at Wombat Hollow for 2 nights and will return. Very pretty property and well maintained secluded sites, but the standout reasons to return are the abundance of wildlife and the fantastic hospitality from Vallance. This is country Australia at its best.

The host is always lovely, the campsite and surrounds are well kept and wonderful scenery, plus the kids loved the playground The whole experience was relaxing yet fun. Very close to a very beautiful river/ clear water swimming hole. Amazing location if you are attending the feathered friends black cockatoo sanctuary. Clean toilets, random furniture could do with upgrading but the ability to have a large fire is handy. The camp areas are flat too. It's a good bit of land but has plenty of potential to be better

4 nights at Wombat Hollow

Stayed at Wombat Hollow at the site called Dad’s Camp in May. Wonderfully quiet and relaxing site, nestled at the edge of a bubbling creek. Site is level and shaded throughout the day - suspect this would be an ideal cooler spot for the hotter months. Plenty of firewood on the property (fallen timber) and firepit with seating. Access was easy, although the dirt road before the property had some uneven and steep sections - we were towing a 23’ caravan. Access to potable water was a bonus for our 5 day stay. No reception available, but host provides wifi at the caretakers shed. Our dogs also had a lovely time, exploring and coming along for walks. Communication with host excellent. Highly recommend for those wanting an off-grid experience whilst being only 40 minutes from nearest town.

Weekend Trip to Mellows Ridge

Beautiful, quiet spot. The host was lovely and he really had thought of everything, from a spa, to providing firewood, even added a sensor light to the bathroom for night time. Could come and go as we pleased and had the whole place to ourselves. Bed was comfy, no complaints at all. And in case anyone’s wondering, yes the dog in the photos is part of the experience 😂 she’ll come down to play fetch she’s a very good girl.
