We are also close to local mountain bike tracks and Thredbo for some downhill riding, some of the best trout fishing in Australia and Lake Jindabyne for water sports in the warmer months. Fairleys is a 300 acre farm, located at the end of the road- ensuring serenity and space. Stunning sunrises, sunsets and unique flora and fauna are common to all sites. We have a vast array of wildlife frequenting our land, as well as an ever changing collection of farm animals. Meeting and learning about our animals can be arranged while you stay with us. We offer dog friendly options (2 dog max) and pet minding services (on application) so you can take the opportunity to explore Kosciuszko National Park or hit the ski fields. Dogs must be on a lead at all times however we offer our site “The Yards” which is a fully enclosed 2 acre unpowered site. Pet minding by a qualified vet nurse is available on most days (prior arrangement essential- in own van). Presently, we have two sites “The Yards”which is unpowered, enclosed and pet friendly and “The Gums”, a large secluded bush site. Alternately you can choose to completely immerse yourself in the Snowy Mountains landscape at our spectacular Sirett’s Hut. A must for 4WD enthusiasts and avid hikers. Availability dependent on weather and access conditions. Pets on application. All sites are individual sites- plenty of room and no adjoining sites. We offer water tank refills at the homestead (water is a mixture of rainwater and bore water). Firewood can be collected (cut from the ground only), or we offer cut wood for a small fee. We have fire pits at each site- camp fires allowed April to Oct, pending fire bans. One of our core values is to “leave no trace”, so guests respecting our environment is of upmost importance.

It is about 90 minutes from Canberra, just over an hour from Thredbo and Perisher and Mt Selwyn snowfields and 1.5 hours from all the beautiful beaches that the South Coast has to offer. A short drive of under 7 minutes takes you to the Murrumbidgee River on a sealed council road. There is a flat grassed picnic area and council gas run b-bques under cover. You may find internet and mobile not fully covered here. I have a mobile that I use which works well depending where I stand. Now has 3 adjacent camp sites available. If not booked by others its a quiet spot amongst a bush setting. also offers an RV site. You can relax around your firepit and enjoy watching the beautiful wildlife that come to visit the property including Kangaroos, Wombats and a variety of native birds. The host runs a Day Spa from her home so you may like to treat yourself to some self care. Please check with host as to availability of Spa Treatments. Why not check out our outdoor clawfoot bath during your stay. It's an amazing experience under the stars! Tank water is available but please use sparingly. The surrounding region is hugely popular for cyclists and bushwalkers with many great tracks available to explore. Mt Gladstone now has a popular track and Iread there are plans for a big upgrade. There is a lookout at the top and can recommend Miss Heides Austrian Restaurent. Amazing authentic home cooked bavarian meals in a rustic log cabin with a fireplace. The Murrumbidgee River is just about 4 klms away, where you can enjoy a picnic along it's banks and take a dip if it's warm enough. We prefer campers who are fully self contained. Campers must take all waste and rubbish with them on departure. There is an outside basic toilet that is a compost type with sawdust and is cleaned regularly. No pets please as we have a wildlife corridor here. * I am considering quiet well behaved pets for campers but not in the bush hut. Will verify soon*.

Our story starts in Far North Queensland, when a german backpacker, me :), met an Aussie fisherman, Craig. To cut the long story short, after living together in Germany we decided to move back to Australia. We had a vision, trying to find our perfect place to live. Starting out with a car, a camper trailer and two bags we travelled from North Queensland down to Tasmania. Looking for a place to live. On our way through Tumbarumba everything started to unfold and we fell in love with our property. The feel, the experience and the climate. This was it! We've found our perfect place and finally named it "Creal's Rest" which has two meanings for us. Obviously from our name, but also from "creel" which is a wicker basket usually used for carrying fish. Escape the hustle bustle of life on our 10 acres alpaca life style farm which is nestled between beautiful hills and grazing properties on Walteela Road in Mannus (20 min drive to Tumbarumba). Walteela means "Place of Peace" and that is what you might be looking for. No traffic waking you. Listen to the sounds of nature instead... Enjoy the peacefulness, local wildlife (kookaburras, echidnas, wombats, kangaroos, etc.), small creek, stunning mountain views and dark skies for star gazing. Birdwatchers... you'll love it! Love fishing? Enjoy a chat with Craig, who has been a pro line fisherman for 18 years in the GBR! He loves to explore, show off the local fishing spots and a chat about all things fishing! Mannus Creek is only a couple of min drive away and Mannus Lake 15-20 min drive. Hand feed our friendly alpacas, greet our pet chickens and find some eggs. Kick back and listen to the quiet around you, enjoy the sounds of the birds and farm animals. "The Orchard" is a beautiful peaceful 5 minute walk down a gravel road with big trees to our Cidery where you can taste and take back to camp some of our cider or sit and have a drink while watching the animals being fed. Maybe book a tour where Tony will show you how we make our cider from the orchard to the bottle and Lorene will show you the amazing animals. You can always jump on your bike and head out on one of the many tracks in the area. You will need to be self sufficient and have your own toilet, water etc. There is no power in The Orchard. Due to people using the orchard as a toilet we are now no longer taking people tenting. You MUST be self sufficient. Head in Batlow to check out the bakery, RSL and Pub and admire the beauty of this small town. Or head upto Tumbarumba where you can visit the Winerys and Ginnery, have lunch at Coroubya wines,The Nest or one of the many cafes. Maybe take the challange of the Tumbarumba rail trail. Check out the water falls, the blowering dam and take in those beautiful mountain views.

Samsons Gully is a working cattle farm nestled in a stunning private valley. If you are after peace and tranquillity this is where you will find it. We have a national park on one side of us, and the Cudgewa Creek flowing along our front boundary. The property is perfect for mountain biking, bushwalking, fishing or just plain relaxing. The favourite camp site is on the banks of the Cudgewa Creek. However, there are plenty of places to camp in the bush for those wanting more seclusion. Samsons Gully is a perfect base to explore the Upper Murray. 20 minutes away is Corryong where there is an IGA, service stations, dump point, Dr and hospital, pubs and cafes. 10 minutes away is the Cudgewa pub who do dinner Wednesday through to Sunday evenings. Our property suits fully self contained campers only as there is not toilet or shower. Dogs and horses are welcome but must be well behaved and kept close to your camp site as this is a working cattle property. Due to council regulations we can only open one site up at a time. This ensures that your time here will be exclusive, peaceful and private.

Since the early 1800s our property has been a sheep and cattle grazing farm. Our first ancestors settled in this area in 1821 and we enjoy a rich historical connection to our country. Little has changed since those early days with native pastures and forests existing in harmony with wildlife and livestock. You will likely see emu and a vast array of other birdlife, kangaroos, wallabies, wombats, echidnas, crayfish and small fish. There are two creeks, both with 4km frontage on the property. Native plants, flowers and trees are in abundance. Farm infrastructure includes timber stock yards, buildings and sheds, some dating back to the 1800s. Four distinct seasons occur at this latitude and elevation. However, weather is changeable throughout the year so always be prepared for sudden changes in conditions. Snow can fall periodically during winter but on occasions even on Christmas Day. Campfire pits at campsites can be used except when fire bans are imposed and in unfavourably hot and or windy conditions.

Bush camping on 100 acres in the Tinderry Range at about 1400 metres altitude. Seclusion and adventure all within an hour of Canberra and twenty minutes from Michelago and the Monaro highway. Big skies and dark nights for star-gazing are likely; or perhaps you'll be nestled in cloud; or hidden by falling snow. There are numerous tracks with spectacular views around the property for bush walking or mountain bike riding. The tracks are surrounded by sub-alpine flora and fauna (such as wallaby's, wombats, lyrebirds) and nearby in the Tinderry Nature Reserve. Tinderry Range is a rugged range east of the Monaro highway accessed mostly through Michelago or an hour and a half from Braidwood (when dirt roads are reasonable). The range is only around 70km away from the coast, thus enabling a sea mist to often roll over us in the late afternoon. Summer temperatures are a pleasant 6 degrees or so cooler than nearby Canberra. You may choose between a number of options for camping depending on your camping desires and set up. There are numerous tracks around our property or nearby Tinderry Nature Reserve. You may go exploring to find the springs or choose to stick to easy walking tracks that follow the contours. We will provide a map. Tracks are also great for mountain bike riding and exploring the unusual mix of sub-alpine, montane and coastal flora and fauna. There is numerous species of bird life and regular calls from lyre birds. This area has fascinating history with the largest eucalyptus distillery in Australia until the late 1950's and very popular with a number of bushrangers such as the Clarke Brothers who had numerous hideouts. No amenities. BYO camping toilet and leave no trace. Campfires (except on fire ban days or when we advise otherwise) are okay--usually recommended. Normally dry firewood is easy to find, or purchase some from us if you prefer. The exception is the bell tent glamping option,' Tin Can Ridge Glamping' which has a toilet included as well as firewood and shortly its own wood stove! Some campsites are best accessed by 4WD, or on foot. or gain access to the glamping tent with us escorting you. Camp lightly. No hunting. Do nothing illegal. Take all waste with you. Respect the land, the wildlife and people. Keep the peace. Enjoy.

We have 40 beautiful acres on The Snowy River Way in Jindabyne with several large, private sites. Groups are welcome to have their own spot together and each site has a fire pit. We are only 10 minutes from Lake Jindabyne – turn left to head up to the mountains (a further 30 minutes to Thredbo or Perisher) or right to explore Jindabyne township and its boutiques, breweries, cafes and cinema. Stop in at The Station Resort on the way back from the mountains, just five minutes away for a nice feed and game of pool (during winter). Our property is on a hill with a dam midway up if you’re looking for a nice walk. Do a loop for spectacular views! Come and enjoy the beautiful outlook and natural wildlife. Rest in peace and privacy or get out to enjoy all the Snowy Mountains has to offer. Whether you come for snow sports, water sports, biking, hiking, yoga or reading – adventure and relaxation awaits. Access to all sites is via a tree-lined driveway. To get to the western paddock and Sunset, Pine View and Hilltop sites, the turn off the drive to get through the fence means that small to medium setups are suitable. To get to the eastern paddock and Sunrise and Birch Grove sites, the turn off the driveway is a bit wider to allow for larger setups. Please check the details for size recommendations – the maximum sizes listed are for your total setup, including your car and anything towed. The sites at the bottom of the property closest to the road have easy access and more protection in windy weather, but if you have a 4WD and are wanting to sit and enjoy the 360 degree rural views then head up the hill to our Hilltop site. We can supply firewood, kindling and fire starters for a small fee, just message us in advance, or you can BYO. Strictly no foraging for wood from the property please. There’s also no power hookups, taps or toilets so it's fully self-sufficient camping. For the peace of other campers, we don't allow generators or pets, sorry. Dogs must be on a lead at all times however we offer our site “The Yards” which is a fully enclosed 2 acre unpowered site. Pet minding by a qualified vet nurse is available on most days (prior arrangement essential- in own van). Presently, we have two sites “The Yards”which is unpowered, enclosed and pet friendly and “The Gums”, a large secluded bush site. Alternately you can choose to completely immerse yourself in the Snowy Mountains landscape at our spectacular Sirett’s Hut. A must for 4WD enthusiasts and avid hikers. Availability dependent on weather and access conditions. Pets on application. All sites are individual sites- plenty of room and no adjoining sites. We offer water tank refills at the homestead (water is a mixture of rainwater and bore water). Firewood can be collected (cut from the ground only), or we offer cut wood for a small fee. It is about 90 minutes from Canberra, just over an hour from Thredbo and Perisher and Mt Selwyn snowfields and 1.5 hours from all the beautiful beaches that the South Coast has to offer. A short drive of under 7 minutes takes you to the Murrumbidgee River on a sealed council road. There is a flat grassed picnic area and council gas run b-bques under cover. You may find internet and mobile not fully covered here. I have a mobile that I use which works well depending where I stand. Now has 3 adjacent camp sites available. If not booked by others its a quiet spot amongst a bush setting. also offers an RV site. You can relax around your firepit and enjoy watching the beautiful wildlife that come to visit the property including Kangaroos, Wombats and a variety of native birds. The host runs a Day Spa from her home so you may like to treat yourself to some self care. Please check with host as to availability of Spa Treatments. Why not check out our outdoor clawfoot bath during your stay. It's an amazing experience under the stars! Tank water is available but please use sparingly. The surrounding region is hugely popular for cyclists and bushwalkers with many great tracks available to explore. Mt Gladstone now has a popular track and Iread there are plans for a big upgrade. There is a lookout at the top and can recommend Miss Heides Austrian Restaurent. Amazing authentic home cooked bavarian meals in a rustic log cabin with a fireplace. The Murrumbidgee River is just about 4 klms away, where you can enjoy a picnic along it's banks and take a dip if it's warm enough. We prefer campers who are fully self contained. Campers must take all waste and rubbish with them on departure. There is an outside basic toilet that is a compost type with sawdust and is cleaned regularly. No pets please as we have a wildlife corridor here. * I am considering quiet well behaved pets for campers but not in the bush hut. Will verify soon*.

Our story starts in Far North Queensland, when a german backpacker, me :), met an Aussie fisherman, Craig. To cut the long story short, after living together in Germany we decided to move back to Australia. We had a vision, trying to find our perfect place to live. Starting out with a car, a camper trailer and two bags we travelled from North Queensland down to Tasmania. Looking for a place to live. On our way through Tumbarumba everything started to unfold and we fell in love with our property. The feel, the experience and the climate. This was it! We've found our perfect place and finally named it "Creal's Rest" which has two meanings for us. Obviously from our name, but also from "creel" which is a wicker basket usually used for carrying fish. Escape the hustle bustle of life on our 10 acres alpaca life style farm which is nestled between beautiful hills and grazing properties on Walteela Road in Mannus (20 min drive to Tumbarumba). Walteela means "Place of Peace" and that is what you might be looking for. No traffic waking you. Listen to the sounds of nature instead... Enjoy the peacefulness, local wildlife (kookaburras, echidnas, wombats, kangaroos, etc.), small creek, stunning mountain views and dark skies for star gazing. Birdwatchers... you'll love it! Love fishing? Enjoy a chat with Craig, who has been a pro line fisherman for 18 years in the GBR! He loves to explore, show off the local fishing spots and a chat about all things fishing! Mannus Creek is only a couple of min drive away and Mannus Lake 15-20 min drive. Hand feed our friendly alpacas, greet our pet chickens and find some eggs. Kick back and listen to the quiet around you, enjoy the sounds of the birds and farm animals. "The Orchard" is a beautiful peaceful 5 minute walk down a gravel road with big trees to our Cidery where you can taste and take back to camp some of our cider or sit and have a drink while watching the animals being fed. Maybe book a tour where Tony will show you how we make our cider from the orchard to the bottle and Lorene will show you the amazing animals. You can always jump on your bike and head out on one of the many tracks in the area. You will need to be self sufficient and have your own toilet, water etc. There is no power in The Orchard. Due to people using the orchard as a toilet we are now no longer taking people tenting. You MUST be self sufficient. Head in Batlow to check out the bakery, RSL and Pub and admire the beauty of this small town. Or head upto Tumbarumba where you can visit the Winerys and Ginnery, have lunch at Coroubya wines,The Nest or one of the many cafes. Maybe take the challange of the Tumbarumba rail trail. Check out the water falls, the blowering dam and take in those beautiful mountain views.

We have a national park on one side of us, and the Cudgewa Creek flowing along our front boundary. The property is perfect for mountain biking, bushwalking, fishing or just plain relaxing. The favourite camp site is on the banks of the Cudgewa Creek. However, there are plenty of places to camp in the bush for those wanting more seclusion. Samsons Gully is a perfect base to explore the Upper Murray. 20 minutes away is Corryong where there is an IGA, service stations, dump point, Dr and hospital, pubs and cafes. 10 minutes away is the Cudgewa pub who do dinner Wednesday through to Sunday evenings. Our property suits fully self contained campers only as there is not toilet or shower. Dogs and horses are welcome but must be well behaved and kept close to your camp site as this is a working cattle property. Due to council regulations we can only open one site up at a time. Since the early 1800s our property has been a sheep and cattle grazing farm. Our first ancestors settled in this area in 1821 and we enjoy a rich historical connection to our country. Little has changed since those early days with native pastures and forests existing in harmony with wildlife and livestock. You will likely see emu and a vast array of other birdlife, kangaroos, wallabies, wombats, echidnas, crayfish and small fish. There are two creeks, both with 4km frontage on the property. Native plants, flowers and trees are in abundance. Farm infrastructure includes timber stock yards, buildings and sheds, some dating back to the 1800s. Four distinct seasons occur at this latitude and elevation. However, weather is changeable throughout the year so always be prepared for sudden changes in conditions. Snow can fall periodically during winter but on occasions even on Christmas Day. Campfire pits at campsites can be used except when fire bans are imposed and in unfavourably hot and or windy conditions.

Bush camping on 100 acres in the Tinderry Range at about 1400 metres altitude. Seclusion and adventure all within an hour of Canberra and twenty minutes from Michelago and the Monaro highway. Big skies and dark nights for star-gazing are likely; or perhaps you'll be nestled in cloud; or hidden by falling snow. There are numerous tracks with spectacular views around the property for bush walking or mountain bike riding. The tracks are surrounded by sub-alpine flora and fauna (such as wallaby's, wombats, lyrebirds) and nearby in the Tinderry Nature Reserve. Tinderry Range is a rugged range east of the Monaro highway accessed mostly through Michelago or an hour and a half from Braidwood (when dirt roads are reasonable). The range is only around 70km away from the coast, thus enabling a sea mist to often roll over us in the late afternoon. Summer temperatures are a pleasant 6 degrees or so cooler than nearby Canberra. You may choose between a number of options for camping depending on your camping desires and set up. There are numerous tracks around our property or nearby Tinderry Nature Reserve. You may go exploring to find the springs or choose to stick to easy walking tracks that follow the contours. We will provide a map. Tracks are also great for mountain bike riding and exploring the unusual mix of sub-alpine, montane and coastal flora and fauna. There is numerous species of bird life and regular calls from lyre birds. This area has fascinating history with the largest eucalyptus distillery in Australia until the late 1950's and very popular with a number of bushrangers such as the Clarke Brothers who had numerous hideouts. No amenities. BYO camping toilet and leave no trace. Campfires (except on fire ban days or when we advise otherwise) are okay--usually recommended. Normally dry firewood is easy to find, or purchase some from us if you prefer. The exception is the bell tent glamping option,' Tin Can Ridge Glamping' which has a toilet included as well as firewood and shortly its own wood stove! Some campsites are best accessed by 4WD, or on foot. or gain access to the glamping tent with us escorting you. Camp lightly. No hunting. Do nothing illegal. Take all waste with you. Respect the land, the wildlife and people. Keep the peace. Enjoy.

We have 40 beautiful acres on The Snowy River Way in Jindabyne with several large, private sites. Groups are welcome to have their own spot together and each site has a fire pit. We are only 10 minutes from Lake Jindabyne – turn left to head up to the mountains (a further 30 minutes to Thredbo or Perisher) or right to explore Jindabyne township and its boutiques, breweries, cafes and cinema. Stop in at The Station Resort on the way back from the mountains, just five minutes away for a nice feed and game of pool (during winter). Our property is on a hill with a dam midway up if you’re looking for a nice walk. Do a loop for spectacular views! Come and enjoy the beautiful outlook and natural wildlife. Rest in peace and privacy or get out to enjoy all the Snowy Mountains has to offer. Whether you come for snow sports, water sports, biking, hiking, yoga or reading – adventure and relaxation awaits. Access to all sites is via a tree-lined driveway. To get to the western paddock and Sunset, Pine View and Hilltop sites, the turn off the drive to get through the fence means that small to medium setups are suitable. To get to the eastern paddock and Sunrise and Birch Grove sites, the turn off the driveway is a bit wider to allow for larger setups. Please check the details for size recommendations – the maximum sizes listed are for your total setup, including your car and anything towed. The sites at the bottom of the property closest to the road have easy access and more protection in windy weather, but if you have a 4WD and are wanting to sit and enjoy the 360 degree rural views then head up the hill to our Hilltop site. We can supply firewood, kindling and fire starters for a small fee, just message us in advance, or you can BYO. Strictly no foraging for wood from the property please. There’s also no power hookups, taps or toilets so it's fully self-sufficient camping. For the peace of other campers, we don't allow generators or pets, sorry. Lovely spot with great country vistas, campsite was quite level and very well maintained, easy access in and out of property, plenty of firewood around, lots of wild life around including friendly horses that visited every afternoon. Flies can be excessive in summer months, take fly swats and some aeroguard.

Time to relax... bring your hammock if you have one or two or three. The huge apple box tree provides a perfect spot to chill in the shade.

This is a great little spot just off the highway for a wonderfully private overnight stay. Plenty of room for my dogs to run around and lovely and quiet and dark for a great nights sleep. It has a petrol station right nearby which was open on New Year’s Day luckily for us. Communication with the host was great and definitely go by the instructions that the owner gives you as GPS sent us the wrong way! Thanks so much for a great stay!

We stayed in our caravan for 3 days. It was very peaceful. At sunset we saw deer, kangaroos and had a visit from 3 horses. It’s a short drive to Jindabyne and Mt Kosciusko. We went for a walk thru the bush to find the creek. Which is lovely. But initially was hard to find from where we were camped. Discovered if you walk past one of the two cabins you’ll find a very nicely mown pathway with a bush swing along the way and the last little bit is along animal tracks, so wear covered shoes.

Richard has a great spot and is a great host. We overlooked a beautiful valley and no trouble fitting our 9M Caravan and 6M truck in the spot he arranged for us. He provided a fire pit and some lumber for levelling. 5/6 mins drive to Jindabyne Brewing and 30 ish mins to Thredo.

Richard’s place was simply beautiful. The view was incredible. It was the nicest thing to wake up looking over the valley. Richard himself was a wonderful host. He was more than happy to help with anything we needed. The property was really safe and fun for the kids - they loved watching the horses and playing on the swing. Being so close to Jindabyne was fantastic too, it made getting supplies quick and easy. We had great days enjoying the region. We went on the slide and chairlift at Thredbo, hiking at Mt Stilwell, horse riding at Thredbo Valley Riding and swimming in Lake Jindabyne. Highly recommend a visit!

Where to go

The Sydney Area

Cosmopolitan Sydney offers big-city charm and easy access to fantastic beaches and natural areas. While plenty of people come here to dine, shop, and take in the city lights, you won’t need to drive far from the city to find yourself out in nature. Some of the best (and easiest-to-reach) camping areas near Sydney include Lane Cove National Park and Royal National Park, both within a short drive of the Central Business District.

The Blue Mountains

Not far from Sydney, the Blue Mountains offer some of New South Wales's finest scenery, from massive rock formations such as the iconic Three Sisters to the enchanting Jenolan Caves. It's a popular destination for bushwalkers and rock climbers alike and has plenty of campgrounds, from forested spots tucked among gum trees to private wilderness campsites far away from it all.

The South Coast of New South Wales

If you want to get away from the crowds but still wish to spend time near the sea, the South Coast may just be the ticket. Head to Booderee National Park to see wildlife or make your way down to Jervis Bay for a bit of kayaking. Like to surf? Head to Kiama to check out the waves or head south to take in the scenery in nearby Gerringong.

The Hunter Valley

The Hunter Valley is best known for its wineries, and it’s got plenty of them, but even teetotalers will find plenty to do in this lovely region. Highlights include the massive Lake Macquarie, the largest saltwater lake on the coast of Australia, and Mount Royal, which is part of the World Heritage Gondwana Rainforests of Australia.
