The Communal camping area is within walking distance of our amenities block, which offers flushing porcelain toilets and a hot shower. Bush campsites are fully self-sufficient, BYO (bring your own) water and toileting system. All campers are required to take their rubbish home with them as there are no bins on site. Sites available for all vehicle types, from buses and large caravans to fully kitted out off-road vehicles.
We offer a self check-in service with full maps and directions, which means you can arrive anytime you like.

A dairy farm for many years, we switched over to beef around 15 years ago. Currently we run around 120 head of Angus and mixed breed cattle.
Within 3 hours drive of Sydney and around an hour from the Barrington National Parks, Newcastle, Maitland, Forster and Nelson Bay, it makes it the perfect destination for a weekend getaway!
We are offering 6 beautiful, partly shaded, camping sites along the pristine Upper Karuah River. All sites are separated for privacy and are all right on the edge of the river.
There are plenty of opportunities for bird watching, hiking, swimming, kayaking, fishing (in summer), star gazing or just relaxing.
All sites are site only and no toilet or shower facilities are provided. You will need to bring your own camping toilet or self contained caravan/ camper (dump point is located in Stroud township)

In summer you may see mumma swan and her baby cygnets, as well as lots of ducklings. Drop in your paddle board or kayak for a leisurely paddle.
Take a relaxed stroll around the property and depending on the season you might spy a wylie fox or a turtle laying eggs. Deer occasionally visit and echidnas and wombats, although nocturnal animals sometimes are a precious sight. There are platypus in the creek and fish in the lake.k
Pre-booked riding lessons available. We have a state forest over the road suited to bush walking or mountain bikes. Ammo the horse who galloped out in the Sydney 2000 Olympics opening ceremony is buried here at Lakestead Farm. We love to speak about our Olympic experience.

We are located minutes from the M1, easy to break your journey,

The Lake can be fun to swim or paddle around but all visitors must wear life vests whilst in the water.

At Lakestead Farm we pride ourselves on our beautiful environment. We have lots of wildlife around. We are very upset when visitors to the Farm dig holes and poo in them. Leaving toilet paper on top. This is so unfair to us and future campers on our sites.
Because this has occurred we will only allow campers with camping toilets.
In order for us to accept your request you need to confirm you have a toilet.
Don’t say yes if you don’t have one, Checks will be done, if you don’t have a portable toilet you will be asked to leave and your fees won’t be refunded.

Some of our camp sites have access to three eco toilets and only one shared shower, rubbish facilities and drinking water. (Campfires) we have 5 fire pits on some of our sites , fires are permitted during the winter months.
We also have 2 x 4 star cabins which sleep 15 between them, they are listed separately on Hipcamp. However the guests from both the camp sites and the cabins have shared access to the pool and facilities. Which includes a large under cover patio area.

We would like to advise that entry to our beautiful property is a dirt road and does have mounds. The road has just been upgraded and although has dirt mounds is quite easy. We suggest to drive over them on an angle and take your time. We have lots of people come in with trailers and campers and have not had a problem. But do not recommend it if you have a lowered car. Any concerns, please contact us.

Within 3 hours drive of Sydney and around an hour from the Barrington National Parks, Newcastle, Maitland, Forster and Nelson Bay, it makes it the perfect destination for a weekend getaway!
We are offering 6 beautiful, partly shaded, camping sites along the pristine Upper Karuah River. All sites are separated for privacy and are all right on the edge of the river.
There are plenty of opportunities for bird watching, hiking, swimming, kayaking, fishing (in summer), star gazing or just relaxing.

Whilst you take time to enjoy every picturesque view, instantly leaving “it all behind”. Explore 10 acres of cleared lush lawns, 82 acres of natural rainforest, bush wilderness with walking/riding tracks throughout [depending on weather conditions]. An ideal place for your next secure, safe and quiet stopover, whilst you “rest your weary head at night”. Situated between Newcastle and Port Macquarie, 7 kms via Bulahdelah with the beaches, lakes, mountains of Seal Rocks, Forster, Port Stephens, Gloucester, Myall Lakes, the Mid North Coast within easy drive. Our Kindred Acres is in the perfect position with so much to offer locally including wildlife, fishing, boating, swimming, bush walking, bird watching, bike riding, relaxing, and the overwhelming enjoyment of mother nature at her best. Our jaw-dropping Camp Kitchen has all things required to make your stay as relaxing as possible.

Guests to be self-sufficient with their own water, power, shower/toilet facilities, cooking facilities. Bathroom facilities on request.
Camp Kitchen is a communal area for all guests, leave clean and tidy.
Leave No Trace – please take all rubbish/items and dispose correctly.
Dogs on request, friendly and well behaved, restrained on arrival as we have free range chooks. Pick up dog poo and take it with you.
National Parks are nearby, you should familiarise yourself with their domestic pet rules; locations, all available on the NSWNP website.
Fires – on arrangement, you are welcome to bring your own firepit and firewood or OKA can supply. Before setting up, we will organise pavers and sand to ensure our grass is protected. We do have firewood available to purchase, 20kg @ $20.00.
Firewood/Kindling collection is not permitted without our consent.
Permission to use generators & chainsaws must be sought. If granted, generators to be super quiet and off between 9pm and 7am.
Our 10pm noise curfew is for the enjoyment of all guests.
Guests are to acknowledge Conditions of Entry prior to entering property which will be messaged.

We are Based in a Quiet Area in Howes Valley NSW
TJ's has over 1000 acres of mixed beautifully grassed areas, surrounding Aussie bush, and a sand based seasonal river (the river is not always flowing fully). Where you can relax and enjoy the peace and tranquility of the Australia Bush, taking in the stunning views, listening to the wildlife, star gazing, go bush walking, splash in our crystal clear seasonal river or bring out your adventure side and go 4wding.
Pets are definitely welcome, but please be sensible and do not bring them if they are aggressive. Please pick up after him/her (there is nothing worse than stepping in a dog dropping).
Horses also welcome - we have a fenced cattle yard.
Hot Showers are available. There are toilets placed around the property.
We have communal sites plus separated private sites for those that would like some privacy. (If you would like a private site, please message us once you have booked).
Have a Fenced off Kids Playground.
Buggys (allowed any weekend at an extra fee).
Quads and dirt bikes also allowed PLEASE NOTE; They are an extra fee and only allowed on specific weekends. As we like to keep our property quiet for everyone to relax from the hassle and bustle of everyday life.

We would like to advise that entry to our beautiful property is a dirt road and does have mounds. The road has just been upgraded and although has dirt mounds is quite easy. We suggest to drive over them on an angle and take your time. We have lots of people come in with trailers and campers and have not had a problem. But do not recommend it if you have a lowered car. Any concerns, please contact us.

Really recommend this place. Nice well kept acreage with plenty of space. Great common camp facilities. On-site accomodation includes a restored caravan complete with own facilities and terrace- wonderfully quirky.

An absolute gem! Riverside camping at its best. Our camper trailer was perfectly positioned in a great spot with easy access to the river. The sound of the rapids at night was something to behold. The whole property is well maintained and is easy to find. Hosts are welcoming and helpful. Looking forward to some winter camping with a nice warm fire. Fishing is great as well!

Lovely large campsite, we had a 13ft hybrid van and a camper trailer, best of both worlds plenty of sun for the solar and beautiful large shade trees to sit under. Heaps of room for the kids to ride their bikes, right on the river. Just a perfect spot. Jo (our host) was so lovely we will definitely be back.

Allan was a very welcoming host, showed us around the property and spoke about his family land.
Grounds were perfectly kept, toilets, shower and camp kitchen all in working order and clean.
Quiet area with
Lots of birdlife, a little trek down to the creek.
The doggo and us loved this camp and highly recommended
Travelling around in our little motorhome from FNQ down to VIC, definitely probably will stay here on our way back home.

Willowbank was a relaxing overnight break with my dog. Well maintained site on the banks of Karuah River, overlooking their beautiful farm landscape. The hosts are great. The only thing to mention is you can hear road noise most of the night from The Bucketts Way, however the flowing river sounds ensure it doesn’t ruin the overall experience.

Great property with lovely hosts. This was our first experience using Hipcamp and we had a great short stay.
We got to play with the animals and were lucky enough to be the only guests for our two nights.
When we come to stay again, i would have messaged Trevor a day or so before my arrival to give him some time to mow our spot, as the paspalym was knee high and limited how much space the kids could use.
Looking forward to another visit!
