We are a farm forestry property located in the middle of the north shore of Port Stephens. Two hours north of Hornsby. 1 hour north of Newcastle. 2 mins to Pindimar beach, 9 minutes to Coles and bottle shop, 11 minutes to surf beach Bennett Beach 12 minutes to Jimmy's Beach. Pets are welcome please pick up after them. Unfortunately, due to a recent incident. All dogs from now on must be on a leash at all times. The dangerous dog in question bit 4 people in less than 24 hours. Including my husband twice. You know your dog, But you cannot predict what another campers's dog is going to be like. Any dog on the NSW dangerous dogs list is absolutely not welcome here. Free use of fire pits and free firewoods. You will need to be split the logs yourself. axes and wheelbarrows are supplied. Hot showers and decent toilets, Good mobile phone signal. Two Communal Fridges .There is lots of space for campers. We have two sites with shade, four without. We suggest you bring a decent quality gazebo or equivalent. If you choose a non-shady site and then it's sunny, it is beyond our control. We are located on a dead end road, so very rare to have any traffic after 8pm. PLEASE NOTE: 1) We ONLY ALLOW ONE camper trailer or ONE caravan per site. No limit on number of tents. 2) IF You Have more than 3 vehicles/site please contact host before booking. 3) Depending on the weather on the day, we may have to limit the number of vehicles that can be parked adjacent to your campsite. 4) NO late night check in . If you are a group larger than two people, the check in time is between midday and sunset. Do not arrive after sunset. If in doubt call. 5) As the business name suggests (mountain) our property is on a hill. we are creating more level campsites. This year the weather has been terrible. From record rain to drought conditions in 3 months. Because of the earthworks there has been a bit of dust, which we have tried to control with grass seed and then no rain.... once each section of earthworks is done. Shade trees are being planted. But they are slow to grow. 6) Please check weather report a minimum of 7 days before you arrive and CANCEL your booking if you are not sure. 7) We cannot control the wind, the sun, rain, or lack of rain.

Nestled under the Watagan mountains escarpment in the Hunter valley, the property has some amazing views in all directions, but still remains secluded and hidden from view. The property has been selectively cleared to maintain a balance of open land and untouched bushland which has a boundary to the Watagans National Park. The animal life is very diverse as many species transition from the Watagans into the property and many live on site full time. These include flocks of amazing bird species such as Gang gang and Black Cockatoos, resident Wedge tailed eagles, Kookaburras, finches, honey eaters, Coucals, Lyrebirds and more. Wallabies of various types are common, and Sugar gliders can be seen on the flowering Eucalypts. The camping areas for RV's sit on a large elevated flat area that border a large gorge with broken views towards the Hunter Valley vineyards. The Gorge (or Canyon) is rimmed by caves and has rainforest type trees in the bottom. The caves can be explored and the rainforest can be walked if you are fit! The tent and camper trailer areas are terraced into an area of slight slope with a number of sites to chose from. Non potable water taps are available at each caravan site and at intervals in the camping area. This water is clear fresh dam or bore water and can be used for showers, washing up etc. Two flush toilets are available for use by both RV's and campers. There is a central fire pit. We have a private site which has open views over the Hunter Valley to the Vineyards and beyond to the Barrington tops. This site has a cliff edge pool that comfortably fits up to 4 people for a dip. This area has a large fire pit that can be used to heat the pool in winter. This site has its own flushing toilet and Shower. This site is best suited to a caravan as it is terraced, though it would be possible to setup tents or a camper van in this location also. This can also be booked as a group site. 16minutes to Cessnock, 25minutes to the M1, 2.25 hours to Sydney central and 25 minutes to Pokolbin. The location is generally very peaceful with all sorts of wildlife. There is plenty of ground sticks for fire wood and bulk timber for purchase.

La Cascina is a small property on a hill surrounded by trees and bushland. There are two main camping areas which would suite tent and small to medium van/car camping. There is access to neighbouring bushland with nice short walks available in the area. Only 20 minutes by car to Newcastle CBD, 10 minutes by car to Redhead Beach and 5 minutes by car to Lake Macquarie. La Cascina is a great spot to stop overnight on a road trip or to get away for the weekend to relax. We have no toilets so please bring your own. The access to the property is a steep sealed driveway. Site 1 is an open site with plenty of shade. The area is flat. More suited to larger camping setups. This site is less private. There is vision of the neighbouring property and an overflow campsite 50 meters away. Site 2 is a more uneven surface area which is better for smaller vans and tents. Redhead Beach is the closest dog beach 10 minutes by car. Croudace Bay is a dog park on the lake which is 5 minutes by car. This is a family owned acreage that brings the best parts of environmental living with the benefits of being close to the coast and a city. A very long time ago it was the site of a quarry. The nature has returned and we are left with a beautiful forested acreage.

Pets are definitely welcome, but please be sensible and do not bring them if they are aggressive. Please pick up after him/her (there is nothing worse than stepping in a dog dropping). Horses also welcome - we have a fenced cattle yard. Hot Showers are available. There are toilets placed around the property. We have communal sites plus separated private sites for those that would like some privacy. (If you would like a private site, please message us once you have booked). Have a Fenced off Kids Playground. Buggys (allowed any weekend at an extra fee). Quads and dirt bikes also allowed PLEASE NOTE; They are an extra fee and only allowed on specific weekends. Whilst on property it’s a buzz of horse life and there are many horses in the paddocks that will be curious to see you and hang over the fence for a nice little scratch. You will notice an abundance of wildlife that will be around; lovely birds, kangaroos and wallabies and if you are lucky the local deer might call in either early mornings or on dusk. Plus of a night time stop and look up into the lovely night sky while listening to the abundance of frogs, crickets and other noises that come alive. If you are wanting to have a fire you are more then welcome and you can go for a walk about to collect as many pieces of wood on the ground. Don’t forget to collect a good marshmallow stick! While you are on the property and if you want to be apart of any extra activities you see please don’t hesitate to ask. If you are wanting to explore and head off property and explore the local area there is an array of things to do some close and some further away. We are 40 minutes out from the heart of Hunter Valley wine country, minutes away from a few local beaches; Norah Head, Catherine Hill Bay, Soldiers Beach or Caves Beach. All have cafes or pubs close. If you are wanting to head to the bush the Watagan Mountains which are our backdrop has endless picnic spots/look outs etc where you can enjoy driving, walking, dirt/push bike tracks or if you have a specific mountain bike buzz you can head to Awaba Mountain Bike trail. Set at the base of the mountains on a beautiful valley floor, located in wine country in the lower Hunter Valley, Cranky Rock gets its name from a 25 tonne sandstone rock that graces our home. The 120 acre working beef and horse farm is situated a scenic 2 hour drive North from Sydney or 1 hour East from Newcastle. Whether you chose to stay of one of our campsites or in our pioneer-style cottage, all visitor being awoken to the natural bush sounds of lyre birds and cooling their heels in the crystal creek at the bottom of the property. On your way in or out, be sure to check out the boutique village of Wollombi which is just 10 minutes from Cranky Rock, where you'll enjoy wine tasting, fresh produce and quaint cafes. Other must-see's in the area include the Olney State Forest and the Wattagan National Park. The property is located just off a scenic drive, over a 2wd accessible creek crossing. It is peaceful and secluded. Campers can use a bush shower if needed but it’s reliant on rain water in the tank. Dogs are welcome, but as it's a working farm, we ask the remain on leash at all times.

Premium and exclusive natural camping at its best. Our farm is located on the beautiful Karuah River in the picturesque Monkerai valley. The river is a fresh mountain river running from the foothills of Barrington Tops. We only offer 5 sites across our 300 acre property giving you absolute privacy and a sense of serenity We were very pleased to have been recognised by Hipcamp as being one of the top 20 Hipcamp locations in NSW for 2022. Most of the year the river is lovely and clear and ideal for swimming canoeing floating on airbeds fishing photography or just enjoying. There is also some really nice bike riding and walking opportunities around the valley although you will be on gravel roads and we are only 25 min drive from the popular Dungog mountain bike park. You are likely to see a variety of birdlife other wildlife including black and white cockatoos ducks some lizards, occasionally wallabies, echidnas and if you are lucky a Platypus or two. We are fortunate to see platypus in the river frequently which is a sign of just how pristine the water running down from the mountains really is. You will have your campsite completely to yourself with no other camper near you. Privacy, tranquillity, relaxation and just enjoying nature is waiting for you. Be sure to bring your telescope as you’ll be amazed at the stargazing at night with no light pollution. Swimming, canoeing and running the rapids on surf mats is always popular at our property and as long as the river is it normal levels and a lot of fun. However, we always highly recommend people wear some form of footwear in the river such as rafting sandals or old joggers or similar as the rocks are very hard on your feet and there’s a particular nasty little fish called a “Bullrout” that whilst rare can infect a nasty sting if you tread on one. No need to be overly concerned but be mindful. Our property is ideal for self-contained vans, camper trailers, medium motor homes, tents or swags, it’s up to you. There are no toilets so only suitable if you have your own toilet facilities and take away all waste when you leave. All toilet waste, leaving our property is very important and an absolutely essential requirement for all visitors. Public waste dump points are at Stroud, Dungog and Gloucester. Gloucester Dungog and historic Stroud village are nearby as well as Barrington Tops World Heritage wilderness area and national park. This is an operating farm and therefore farming activities such as cattle droving, fencing, grass cutting or hay making may occasionally be occurring somewhere near your site but we would always let you know. We are sure you will enjoy our farm far more than a crowded traditional caravan park or campgrounds. We do have some limited bags of firewood for sale at $20 a bag most of the year. These are heavy bags of very dry local Hardwood. You can also collect firewood along the riverbanks yourself or bring your own firewood for a campfire (subject to any fire restrictions) if that is easier and more convenient for you. When you make a reservation at the property we will always endeavour to put you in your preferred location as best we can. However if we are impacted by adverse weather or need to run cattle on certain parts of the farm then we may need to make a change to the actual site you are in and trust you understand. We look forward to you visiting our farm.

From the very first interaction with Kellie and Rod the communication and directions were great and OKA was amazing , we were directed to a great spot handy too the amazing camp kitchen more like a “glamp “kitchen there isn’t anything they haven’t thought of to make your stay as comfortable as possible …. So close to town but you feel miles away lost in the sounds of wildlife and birds .. Ruby was a gorgeous host too . We were self contained but there is a great shower and toilet available we will definitely recommend too anyone and we will be back …

The camping area was really well maintained and the kids could run around bare foot on the soft grass. Toilets and showers were very clean. Sites gave decent space between other campers. The tractor trailer ride to feed the animals was an awesome bonus that we didn't expect and the kids loved it. Will definitely be back!
