Fantastic campsite, super private in the far corner of the property with easy access to the river, a short drive from lots of walks, an awesome cafe just up the road and probably the best campsite toilet I've ever seen.

We had a fantastic stay at this Hipcamp. The peaceful seclusion was exactly what we were looking for, a great place to unwind and switch off.
We really enjoyed getting out on the river, spending time kayaking and fishing. We even managed to catch some eels and bream, which made it all the more memorable.
The toilet facilities are basic but were clean and well maintained, which is always appreciated when camping.
As others have mentioned, the grass is quite long and there are plenty of mosquitoes around, so it’s definitely worth coming prepared with appropriate gear and insect repellent.
Overall, a great spot for a relaxing, nature-filled getaway, we’d happily come back.

We absolutely loved our stay here! Despite it being 40 degrees we kept cool in the beautiful river and by the shared trees. Was easy access for our small caravan. We can’t wait to visit again. Thank you

The 2 campsites are very private and spacious and you your group gets exclusive use of your site whether there is just 2 of you or 20 - a fantastic feature. We used the Marabalang campsite etched between the river edged with a narrow mangrove strip and some scrub. The Gum Trees campsite is far more open, but for just 2 of us, our campsite felt wonderfully secluded. Access to paddle craft wwas great and I enjoyed a couple of hours paddle up the river in a canoe provided. The birdsong of a morning was fantastic to wake to and we saw a couple of lyre birds each day on the driveway in. The host were lovely and easy going.

It was perfect for our camping trip with young children. Gumtree grove was so peaceful, we loved the short walk to the river. The trampoline was a pleasant surprise and we were very grateful to have canoes to play on. Totally magical spot. Would love to go back.

Beautiful secluded spot, was perfect for our large group as we had it all to ourselves. We particularly enjoyed using the kayaks, canoes and surfboards on the river next to the campsite. Lots of thoughtfulness put into the hand painted signage- felt very personalised. Thank you!

We had a wonderful stay at Gumtree Grove! A stunningly beautiful, clean campsite by the river, a fantastic camp toilet on site and access to all kinds of goodies, like kayaks, extra kitchenware, board games and even couches! We had the best time, and will definitely be returning,

I had an absolutely fantastic weekend at Gumtree Grove! The location was stunning, nestled in nature with beautiful views and plenty of space to relax. Highly recommend for anyone looking to unwind and reconnect with the outdoors!

Great location right next to the river with plenty of room for a group of people to chill out and have fun. Was good to be able to build a fire in the designated spot and the compost toilets work well. If your into fishing, there is a great jetty onto the river and plenty of fish to be caught.

Another lovely camping trip at the Freedom Farm, this time with my young god son. We had a great time fishing, walking, talking and the weather was terrific. The only negative was the grass around the camping area was quite long and there was long dry grass clippings where the grass had been cut.

Johanna’s place was great for a close camp to Sydney. It was super private and quiet and we loved floating down the river from the pontoon to our camp site!
Only watch out is there are a fair few mozzies knocking about (to be expected when you’re near water and it has been raining just before we arrived) so take lots of bug spray and coils etc.
Spencer is also a cute town nearby worth a visit! Would book again. Thanks Johanna

We had 2 x families (with teenagers) with camper trailers and the space was great. Close to the swimming beach where we lazed in the water, paddle board and canoed. Only downside were mozzies but expected near mangroves. Just take a heap of bug spray. Will be on our list of places to return.

We were unlucky with the weather, but otherwise had a great time at Marabalang. The site access is easy for anything smaller than a camper trailer. The range of equipment for use at the site, including your choice of kayaks and canoes, even crab traps, was especially handy. The only negative (and to be expected at a mangrove site in rainy weather) was the plague-swarm of mosquitoes direct from the pits of hell itself. Bring plenty of repellent!

The river and beach are amazing. It's cool, deep and doesn't flow too fast. We travelled with two families with kids ranging from 8 years old to 21 years old. All had a lovely time. At first, we thought you could only walk in through the very muddy bank but found the beach area by the gazebo and kayaks. The toilet worked amazingly well and didn't smell. We were the only ones at our campsite. The only negative was that the grass was quite long and itchy to walk through.

The little beach and the beautiful water made this place! Hosts were lovely.
However, upon arriving, we were shocked to see no mown/unslashed areas where we were to park our van. There was long grass (I’m talking to my knees) everywhere, which is such a snake risk!
And Our kids got tones of bindies/grass seeds in their socks from just walking around our van. There was zero cleared or mowed areas.
Way overpriced for what we got! Just a toilet (which was a nice composting one) and it was $97 (1 night, mid week!) for our young family of 4. Won’t stay again.

Had a truly lovely camping weekend with friends at Freedom Farm.
Great swimming, super quiet, loved the kayaks and all the useful things available for campers to use.
Great toilets!
Ground pretty dirty where the grass has been worn down, but there were mats available for us to place down which helped heaps!

Fabulous spot to accommodate 5 families. Short walk to the sandbank for swimming and free use of the kayaks. Compost toilet. Beautiful surroundings and private. Will be back for sure!

Sarah’s land was absolutely beautiful. The directions were clear and she answered any questions we had before we arrived. We all took part in the smoking/yarning circle and learnt so much about the land, vegetation and aboriginal culture. Johanna took her time to answer all of our children’s questions and was incredibly patient. Swimming in the river was a highlight as was spotting all the beautiful birds that visited us on our campsite.

We had a brilliant weekend of camping with 8 families. The site is private and spacious. Great weather meant we could enjoy the river and kayaks. Johanna was a wonderful host, happy to make suggestions about the surrounds. We will be back!!

We loved camping at Gumtree Grove! Fantastic host, nice flat secluded camp site with river view. The gum trees are not too massive so we didn't have any fear of camping under them - it was such a peaceful tranquil spot. We absolutly LOVED the composting toilet! No smell and beautifully set up. Would very much recommend camping at this spot - we had a great weekend.

We loved camping at the Freedom Farm! Johanna was a great host and as it had been a very wet week with a lot of rain, she allowed us to camp in another section of the farm which we really appreciated. We had group of 12 teenage boys and they had plenty of room to run around and play games. The location was peaceful and beautiful and less than an hour and a half out of Sydney. Highly recommend this place and we would happily camp there again.
