The Peach Farm

17 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents55 acres · Mororo, NSW
Relax or get involved at The Peachy; an iconic, eco friendly, off-grid animal rescue farm... privately owned and publicly loved! We feed the farm animals and collect the eggs every morning at 8am so set your alarm and join in the fun. Gypsy, your onsite hostess with the mostest, will take you on a fun-filled journey where everyone learns something! The dam is back in action after the drought and then an invasive weed taking over. There are kayaks here and they are free for everyone to enjoy. There is a nature playground for the kids, an outdoor bathtub (book with us after you have booked your site $45 or book as a 'camp site'), wood-fired pizza oven (book in the 'extras') and a well equiped community kitchen. The Peach Farm is centrally located within a 20 minute drive to close by attractions. Adventure; 4 wheel drive at Shark Bay. Swim; Iluka's famous beaches. Walk; Iluka Heritage Rainforest, from the lush rainforest to the amazing views at The Bluff. Explore; Yamba, Angourie, the Scottish town of Maclean. Our eccentric affectionate mix of farm animals will win you over in seconds especially if you grab some feed from your hosts. All of our loving animals have been rescued as a tiny baby or taken in when their owners could no longer care for them. Each site has a picnic table and a fire-pit and you can book a camp oven package if you would like to engage in some outdoor cooking. It's fun, relaxing and nothing beats a camp oven stew! Our community kitchen is a hub for get togethers and yarns, well equipped with a gas cooktop, toaster, kettle, cooking utensils, a BBQ, fridge/freezer, and plenty of tables. There are fresh herbs and eggs when in plentiful supply. Please use the worm bin for all your kitchen scraps. We have an amazing composting loo but no showers yet. We are pet friendly however we do ask that you have your best friends on a leash AT ALL TIMES and please do not get too close to the alpacas, they are protectors and will become uneasy and distressed. We strongly believe in 'leaving no trace' so please be mindful of our animals, other happy campers and 'take only memories leave only footprints'. “The peach from can only be accessed heading north on the highway. If coming from the North take the Iluka exit and then just loop back to head north - 1.5km turn off is on the left straight off the Highway!"

Crystal Creek Ranch

19 sites · Lodging, RVs, Tents100 acres · Upper Crystal Creek, NSW
Welcome to my beautiful 100 acres that backs on to Springbrook National Park. There are crystal clear freshwater creeks. Most campsites next to the creek. The property is mostly natural bush with some cleared patches for camping and horse grazing. The road entering the property is damaged due to the resent rain and you will need to drive through water. Most cars are safe but if you have a low set car or if you are delicate with your car I would not recommend. Only 30 mins from natural arch and 20 mins to great fishing and crabbing in the tweed river. Dog friendly (must be well controlled no aggressive dogs). Drop toilets and hot showers. There are 2 cabins available each with private portable toilet and hot outdoor showers. Campfires permitted ( when fire bans not in place) and wood can be purchased in advance during booking process. No fire wood to be collected off property BYO or purchase in advance. Not a place for loud music and parties, happy for everyone to have fun but noise is restricted. If you are a disturbance to other campers you will be asked to leave without a refund. PLEASE READ THE CANCELLATION POLICY CAREFULLY BEFORE BOOKING!!!

Camping near Lismore guide

Overview

In northeastern NSW’s Northern Rivers area and about 30 kilometres inland, Lismore is a handy detour when road tripping across the NSW–Queensland border. The Great Dividing Range is to the north, with the Border Ranges National Park, Lamington National Park, and other conservation parks within a couple of hours’ drive of Lismore. The town itself offers a handful of well-equipped holiday parks, conveniently located beside the Bruxner Highway. Travellers wanting a simpler, more outdoorsy place to set up camp should look to nearby conservation areas and Hipcamp properties for convenient facilities and scenic surrounds.

Where to go

Byron Bay

One of Northern NSW’s most popular destinations is less than an hour’s drive northeast of Lismore, on the coast. Campers flock to Byron Bay for the beaches, surfing, hiking, and watersports—just know that while it’s a chilled-out spot, it can also be very busy. The plus side? There are a ton of camping options ranging from simple, unpowered beachside camps to more luxurious glamping.

Ballina

Just 30 minutes’ drive east of Lismore on the coast, Ballina is much sleepier than Byron Bay to the north, and a good option for campers seeking a quieter beachside destination in the Lismore area. There are many kilometres of cycle paths around town, as well as the beautiful Killen Falls. You’ll find a few well-equipped holiday parks around Ballina, plus a smattering of tent campsites and caravan campgrounds via Hipcamp.

Whian Whian State Conservation Area

Less than an hour’s drive north of Lismore, this conservation area runs into Nightcap National Park. There are hiking, cycling, and horse riding trails to enjoy, plus waterfalls and creeks for swimming and fishing. Campers can stay at the Rummery Park campground with tents, caravans, or camper trailers so long as they book ahead. Alternatively, camp in Lismore and visit on a day trip.

When to go

In the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales, Lismore is prone to serious flooding every few decades, which has increased to every few years due to climate change. The risk is greater in late summer and early autumn (February/March), so pay especially close attention to weather reports and local news if you’re planning on camping in and around Lismore at this time of year.
