Our property contains the first road in and out of Colo - the original road is supported by hand built dry rock walls some of which are over 3 m high. Often referred to as convict built, but more likely built by freemen who were former convicts.  The property housed the load master's residence who controlled the cargo boats that docked to collect the valley’s produce. This was then transported back down the Colo River which flows into the Hawkesbury river and leads to Broken Bay following the coastline down to Old Sydney Town. The beach diagonally across the river was landed upon by members of the First Fleet’s exploratory scouting party on the lookout for quality farm land - some of which is still in production today.  Our property is on the uppermost reach of freshwater but with tidal influence. This deep water allows swimming and canoeing all year round. Our property is adjacent to the only council built canoe launching facilities on the Colo River.

With only two allocated camping/van zones enjoy the privacy and access to walk around the 40 acres. Located 1.15 hrs from Sydney CBD this is an ideal place for a quick weekend getaway for keen hikers, mountain bikers and nature enthusiasts. Surrounded by the Marramarra National Park you have a short drive to access the Canoelands Ridge Trail (17kms), Duckponds Ridge Trail, Marrarra Ridge to Smugglers Point Ridge Trail. We are a short drive to dine at Wiseman Ferry, and only 11 minutes from the local Woolworths. Or enjoy a beautiful walk at Fagan Park in Galston. Your camping/van area is supplied with red/bins. 2 Portaloos available or camping toilets. Dogs allowed but please let me know first. They will need to be on leash all the time and well behaved. Please pick up after them ANYWHERE they go toilet and also they must be vaccinated. No cats allowed. A campfire during permitted times is allowed but only in the fire pits. There is loads of dried kindling and small logs around the property otherwise please bring your own. All Sites have fire pits. CHILDREN are to be accompanied by an adult at all times if walking around the property. Beautiful spot to relax, with loads of wildlife and bird watching. Please use bins supplied and leave no trace. * There are 4 allocated camp sites. Two are easy(2WD & Vans/trailers) access and have the direct view through the valley. No toilets, showers, kitchen or pool. You need to be fully self contained. Some Campsites are in our lovely small manicured bush garden setting. It's a level, grass/lawn shaded area. Great spot with large well maintained open grassed area that easily accommodates large caravans, front gate was a little tight to navigate our 22.6 caravan but certainly not a problem at all, Joe was great to deal with and his instructions were clear and simple to follow. Many spots to choose from ours was on a fence line next to a road but it’s a very quiet road so literally no road noise, very peaceful location and easy access to highway. Would definitely stay again.

We had such a great stay. Made a last minute booking on a super hot day, and Katie had a lovely shady spot for us and our cat. All the horses on the property were so friendly, and not remotely put off by said cat! It was kind of adorable watching them suss each other out. No other campers, and far enough away from the house so was very private. Would highly recommend.

We enjoyed our stay at Myrtle Ridge farm. The open space surrounded by trees was a lovely tranquil place to camp. The morning cacophony of bird calls is amazing. The facilities are clean and well maintained. The hosts are incredibly helpful and friendly, full of local knowledge. The camp is close to the highway and The Entrance so everything is in easy access to shops for topping up supplies. A great place for a one night stop or longer.

We really enjoyed our stay at De View. Yarra was very on the ball with directions. Came to greet us when we arrived. The amenities were clean and nicely presented. The camping areas were thoughtfully landscaped and well spread out. The river was perfect for my 7yo and 11yo. And (it was early summer) there was a total lack of mosquitoes! 😁.
