Hawkesbury Hideaway

The views of the river are very limited to a few spots as there is a lot of vegetation blocking views. Other campers were very close as everyone naturally wanted a view so it wasn't very private. The amenities block is just a demountable single shower and toilet that services the entire camp ground and it is very old and grubby. The rundown house and sheds dont give off peaceful countryside vibes. The campsites themselves were well maintained.

Was warmly greeted at the start, an other people camping were also lovely. The land is nice n flat to camp your swag with spacious views. Amazing to be able to have my dog camp with me too! Its a great spot next to the river, ill definitely be coming back again!

Excellent weekend getaway

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hawkesbury Hideaway. Toni was very responsive and extremely helpful when we advised thay we were running late. The space was large enough that you could find a secluded spot to set up but still close enough to the bathroom to walk. We had a fantastic time with our 3 dogs and look forward to visiting again!

Poor value and unclean

I wish I could upload the photos I took to show friends of the 1 "bathroom" (seriously one 1 toilet, combined with the shower to share between more than 10 to 15 groups of people) which was disgusting. Overflowing bin with sanitary products on the ground, mouldy shower that hasn't been cleaned in months. For $75, you get an empty field and zero usable amenities - not even a bin to throw rubbish. If you don't need any facilities and happy to pay more than what full featured parks charge then it's fine. Personally I'd either go to a free site or pay for a full feature site because this is neither.

Very expensive camp Usually powered camp site over night in winter season cost around $45 per night Here I paid $160 for one night + $30 for extra car / $30 for few pieces of wood ! I don’t want to be bad customer and I’m not doing negative feedback but I have to comment this absolutely rip off

First time camping here, river view was great! It was lovely to meet John the site keeper of the day! All groups are far from each other so it was very private. Bought firewood directly from site, $15. Despite there's only 1 toilet (toilet within bathroom), I didn't spend a lot of time queueing. And as a public toilet, I'd say it's very clean (of course also depends on the guests on that day). There's a mini cliff/ steep slope at power site 1, leading to shore of the river. Make sure don't set up the tent too close to that, especially when you have kids/ pets. Love the location, reasonable driving time from Sydney, will definitely visit again!

Hospitality was fantastic + the location was exactly as described. The biggest bummer for us was the heavy machinery use on the property until nightfall and then again at the property directly across the river the next morning. We kept joking, “how’s the serenity?” We originally wanted to stay and make brekkie but it wasn’t a nice vibe with the construction so we bailed early. I think if we were to stay here again we would ask the host if there are any works going on around first. If atmosphere isn’t a priority, this would be great for a quick stop over on a long haul trip :)

This is now my favourite place to camp on my first time experience here. The hosts were amazing. Nothing was a problem for them. Not to mention the beautiful view!! Not too far from home as well. It’s now my go to camp ground!

A quiet restful stay

We had a peaceful and lovely stay here. We camped for 10 days & really settled in, with River views and evenings around the fire almost every night. Toni & John are excellent hosts. The toilet and shower were a real bonus. We had a quiet and restful stay. There is plenty of room & even on the weekend when there were multiple sites let, our neighbours were respectful.

Hawkesbury Hideaway is right on the river, which was incredibly peaceful and relaxing for a winter weekend getaway. Very quiet by day and night. Might be a different story in summer, when the ski boats are in action, but if that is what you like, this might be the place for you in summer too!

We had an absolute blast on site, we had beautiful views of the river, an amazing campsite, and well-cared-for facilities, making the weekend away an absolute breeze! we enjoyed spending the afternoons by the fire enjoying the ambience, river and watching the world go by!

Awesome spot to camp. Great views on the river and a lot of space. John was most welcoming and checked on everyone each day to see how we were all doing. A few other campers around but far enough away from each other. The dog loved the large open grass space to run and chase the ball. Well kept toilet and amenities. Will definitely be back some time!
