Buffalo Gap Retreat and Camp, West Virginia
on 202 responses
Located in the foothills of the Potomac Highlands, Buffalo Gap Camp was founded in the early 1950's by Herman Rubenstein and Jerry Smith as a Jewish kids camp. That camp endured for about 30 years, and since, the camp has had many owners and has even fallen into abandonment at times. In 2017, a group of 5 investors bought it and are bringing it back to life with cottage rentals and camping in a gap (valley) between two picturesque mountains - Slane's Knob and Sandy Ridge. Teaming with creeks and streams, and a 2 acre spring fed lake, Buffalo Gap is a peaceful and beautiful retreat and getaway from the daily stresses of life. With the nearby town of Capon Bridge just 8 minutes away and the Shenandoah Valley city of Winchester just 35 minutes, so much beauty and convenience with our Riverside town and nearby bigger city.
