Pace Bend Park
A 1,368-acre water wonderland northwest of Austin.
The Pace Bend part of Lake Travis is known for its white limestone bluffs. These stone sentinels watch over the Colorado River as it meanders west of Austin. The most popular activity involves taking a giant leap.
Youngsters and thrill seekers come here to jump off the cliffs. Three coves in the lake prohibit boats from going through, and these spots are great for swimming. These swimming holes do not have lifeguards.
With 9 miles of shoreline, boating and fishing are popular, too. Bring your own boat and put in at one of two boat ramps. Don't forget your fishing gear, because you might catch a tasty dinner to have back at camp.
Hikers, bikers, and equestrians have miles of trails to explore. These paths wind around the cliffs and provide beautiful overlooks in several places.
