Are you ready to get buff? Leave the weights at home, we’re talking history buff! Goliad State Park is a quaint retreat on the San Antonio River with an amazing view into the history of the Texas Revolution. The park complex contains many historical building restorations, including the Spanish Colonial Era Mission Espíritu Santo - reconstructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) in the 1930s. At Goliad State Park, activities are as diverse as its past. Choose to relive the fall of Goliad by participating in a two-day reenactment, or enjoy the other side of the spectrum by signing up for their angling 101 “Tackle Loaner Program”; where individuals can borrow rods, reels and tackle boxes with hooks, sinkers and bobbers. Other day jaunts include hiking, swimming at the junior Olympic pool, nature and historical studies, and river access for kayaks and canoes. If you’re ready to flex your history muscles, book a site at one of Goliad’s four campgrounds!
