At the base of the Blue Ridge Mountains in western North Carolina you’ll find the gem that is Asheville—a mountain town heavy on outdoor culture, the arts, and a bit of southern charm. If you’re looking to get outdoors for the night, you’re in luck because the options for camping in Asheville are almost endless. Camp on public land in Pisgah National Forest, Cherokee National Forest, Nantahala National Forest, along the stunning Blue Ridge Parkway, and within a number of North Carolina State Parks. Or check out one of the Asheville area's many private campgrounds and unique private lands, including a hilltop cabin on a permaculture farm or a tent site surrounded by an apple orchard. If you’re up to travel a bit farther, head west about an hour to Great Smoky Mountains National Park where you can camp, hike the Appalachian Trail, explore waterfalls, fly fish for rainbow and brown trout, do some wildlife watching at Hades Cove, and cycle along some of the most scenic roads in the Southeast. Regardless of where your Asheville adventure takes you, you're bound to have a good time in this beautiful and happening mountain region.
It's hard not to smile when you're here.
