Explore this vast, beach-based park with its varied landforms and wildlife.
See this sandy shore of Lake Michigan, which represents the only remaining beach ridge shoreline in Illinois. Walk 6.5 miles along the sandy beachfront, and listen to the waves gently lapping against the land. Along the way, find your favorite picnic spot to have lunch.
Jump in the water at the designated swimming area to cool off on sunny summer days.
Check out the well-maintained Zion Bike Trail. It extends for nearly 1 mile and connects both units of this state park. Play around in Beulah Park with its winding mountain bike trails.
Hike along the 5 miles of trails through the developed and natural areas of the park. Stroll around dunes, prairie grasses, wetlands, and an oak-covered savanna. Listen for some of the many bird species calling out to you, or seek out the prickly pear cactus on the dunes.
