Gaviota State Park
See spectacular terrain and a beautiful California beach in one place.
There is a ton to do at this beach! Ambitious hikers can see the beach from Gaviota Peak to the east. Railfans enjoy the Southern Pacific railroad trestle that crosses Gaviota Creek. The structure goes right over the parking lot. Swim, hike, or bike to see whatever spectacular view fits your fancy.
Anglers can dip their lines in from the pier. The pier also serves as a launch point for scuba divers and surfers heading into Santa Barbara Channel. Water sports are popular any time of year. Trailheads by the beach lead hikers to the eastern part of the park. It's there that the glorious mountains await you. Pack a picnic lunch and enjoy a meal in the serenity of the Santa Ynez Mountains. They top out at 2,400 feet above the beach. On the way, check out the Gaviota wind caves for a special treat.
