A gracefully designed switchback driveway leads you to a cleared level landing. The spot is elevated nestled in among hardwood trees where you can pitch a tent or park a self-contained RV (No larger than 24'). Due to the switchback design of the driveway, a combination car/truck and towed camper configuration will not work. It's a two minute walk to the neighborhood association dock, 10 minute walk to the open ocean and rugged Maine coastline. East Boothbay is quiet, relaxing, and beautiful. Be sure to stop by East Boothbay General Store for delicious house made breakfast and lunch sandwiches, salads, pizza, a selection of beers and wine; eat in on the small porch or take away for a picnic. Walk or bike along the narrow quiet road to the ocean where waves are crashing on the rocks. Don't miss the gorgeous sunsets-simply spectacular. Or just relax at the site and enjoy the beauty of the nature that surrounds you where you might spot a deer or hear an owl hooting nearby. It's a short 10 minute drive to Boothbay Harbor for whale and puffin watches, great restaurants, sunset and reggae cruises, and sailing trips. My step Dad Bob ‘discovered’ the island in the 1970’s when he was escaping the rat race and looking to get ‘back to the land’. Over the course of three years he built the island house by floating cedar logs across the bay, using a come-along to bring the up to the land, debarked and prepped them for building and set about constructing his off-grid, solar powered home. All without power tools. Both my Mom and Bob were ardent environmentalists and peace advocates. For 20 years they lived year-round on the island and only left when their ages made it difficult to continue cutting/splitting/moving/burning wood and just the ordeal of living so remotely. Most visitors to the island agree the peaceful vibe continues and that is important to us.

WELCOME to Happy Hippie Lane Maine! Get your "groove" on or hang loose here on a precious little island with a big bridge just off route one in the heart of Midcoast. Hundreds of guests report the perfect balance of upbeat fun and chill time and call our place and hospitality "magic", "amazing" and "holy guacamole!" It is a lovely spot just off the beaten path but close enough to access the frey. :) I welcome my guests personally and have likely had a chat before you booked. I like to know what your hopes and priorities are around your stay before I accept so I can meet both of our needs. When you arrive, I will greet you and share a little history/tour of the place. I accept travelers between 4 and 9 pm but like all of us schedules fluctuate and we can roll some. There's a strong chance on an average Maine clear summer evening, I have the campfire going and the solar lights around the yard are charged for their evening gentle show. All of the spaces I rent are bedrooms only. You walk a few steps/yards to my 5 bedroom home and access two showers and some kitchen use. I also have an outdoor shower and outdoor kitchen that is cute and for your use. It's fun to cook on the fire too! I prefer folks to limit cooking esp in hot weather but support healthier eating and may share some of my foraging tips. The rooms are equipped with plenty of linens and fan power. You will be cozy either way the temps go. There is a lovely porch on the log home where you can sit and enjoy the sunset and lots of wildlife activity. The back yard has tether ball and lots of seating as well as the good sized fire pit with ghosts of hundreds of fireside chats gone by. I look forward to ours! Next door there is a gravel road on a lightly traveled road for your walking or biking pleasure. I am happy to join you in a hilly roller coaster cycling experience and have a few bikes to offer up. I am a WWOOF host and have occasional "helpers" and you are welcome to explore my veggie and flower gardens. This host loves board games and crafts so is often ready to share either or both with guests. There are 150 acres around me that are wooded and pathed so your pup will love it too. If you can practice a ‘leave no trace’ ethic and enjoy camping, but prefer a cabin to a tent, this is a great option for you. Incredible, white sands Pemaquid Beach is 10 minutes away. Unique LaVerna Preserve is a 10 minute walk from the cabin and boasts amazing geological features. World-renowned Damariscotta River Oysters are available in many restaurants in nearby Damariscotta. The Pond Cabin is a 12 ft. x 16 ft. timber frame with a 6'x8' sleeping loft nestled 150 feet off a private, dirt road. As the crow flies, the Pond Cabin is 1/4 mile from the open ocean. Hipcampers will hear lobster boats, gulls and ocean swells. A small pond is just across the small dirt road and provides habitat for peepers and bullfrogs, as well as multiple bird species. The cabin is quite private and tucked into the woods on 3 sides. Nearby attractions include: Long Cove Point (less than 1 mile away), LaVerna Preserve (less than 1 mile away), Pemaquid Beach (a 10 minute drive), Pemaquid Point Lighthouse (a 15 minute drive), Hardy Boat Cruises to Monhegan Island and wildlife viewing tours (a 10 minute Drive), Round Pond Village (a 10 minute drive), as well as boat launch access at Round Pond Village. Fort William Henry is also nearby (a 10 minute drive). Kayak/canoe rentals are available at Bristol Mills and at the site containing Fort William Henry. The beds are covered with Allerease mattress protectors which are antimicrobial and provide allergen protection. Guests should bring their own bedding or sleeping bags. 4 pillows are provided, also covered with Allerease zippered covers. We use a Porta Potty with a hand washing sink inside. The Pond cabin does not have running water, but it does have drinking water and a hand washing sink. The Pond Cabin now has electricity. There is a hiking trail, about a mile long, from the cabin that gives you direct access to the ocean and nearby LaVerna Nature Preserve, a spectacular preserve with sweeping views to the open ocean and unique geologic features. Also, little ones will find the beginnings of a "fairy village" behind the cabin. A private wooded lot on a road with farms and woodland. Some road noise from Middlesex road during commuting times that quiets down for sleeping. Topsham is lovely and I'm grateful to live here and share this space with travelers! My site is designed to be low-priced, easy in-out, and a convenient stop-over for the traveler. Water and respite available here for a day or two, if this area is your destination or if you're on the road toward an adventure. A single private site. We are not a campground, this is the back part of our land that we hope to offer as respite and safety for travelers looking for this kind of place to stay. We give absolute privacy to campers in the hours 4pm-11am. Please consider that we might be on the lower property during the middle of the day: 11am-4pm, which matches most of our visitors needs as they are using the property as an evening and morning stopover. Things to do in area: Midcoast Maine has an endless bounty of treasures for visitors in all seasons. The lovely Head of Tide park with a small waterfall is 2.2 miles to the west. Grocery: Our towns (Topsham and Brunswick) have several grocery stores: Hannaford, Shaw's, Market Basket, and a wonderful natural foods store.  We have many farm stands with organic and locally grown produce closely nearby - ask us to help you locate them! Food: Brunswick is restaurant and brewery heaven! Amazing beers, wood fired pizza, sushi, Thai, Vietnamese, Greek, German, Filipino, deli, Fusion and more! Harpswell Heritage Land Trust trails are dog-friendly and on the beautiful Maine coast.

Wherever we go people either say "I love Maine!" or "I've always wanted to go to Maine!" This naturally wooded lot with a platform for your tent or table, is a perfect place to camp or park your RV and enjoy the beauty of Mid-Coast Maine. (Look for the lobster bouy on the tree and the lobster trap on the ground as you circle the street turn around.) It is located in the middle of the Pemaquid Peninsula, home to Maine's most famous lighthouse: it’s on the U.S. quarter. This is a great spot from which to explore beaches (8 miles), canoeing and kayaking (2 miles), state and national parks, and hiking trails (8 miles). There are great restaurants, shops, summer theater, art studios and antique markets in nearby Damariscotta and all along the Maine coast. Throughout the summer there are lobster fests, music fests, fairs and even a Pumpkin Regata (in Oct) when the fall foliage is at its peak. No camp fires as water source is 1.5 miles at town spring tap. This water is currently not portable but fine for washing. Public Port-a-potty at swimming hole 1.4 mi. Tent and car campers $20 per night. Message is for RV considerations. For stays of a week or more we provide trash pick up. For stays of 10 days or more, ask about a discount. We have two composting toilet outhouses available for guests use that we take care of on a daily basis.Inside of our large greenhouse, there is a hot water outdoor semi-private shower, only biodegradable soap that we provide can be used. There is also a kitchen and seating area in the greenhouse with a propane grill, toaster oven, microwave and electric kettle and small coffee maker/French press. The greenhouse is a communal space that our family uses as a wood shop and greenhouse space so while the kitchen and shower area are kept clean and clear for guests, the rest of the greenhouse is a working space that can be in various states depending on what projects we have going on. Dogs are allowed but they need to be leashed due to our free ranging ducks and the closeness of the road. We can occasionally provide eggs and some veggies and herbs for tea for a small fee if it’s arranged in advance.We provide a fire pit and kindling but ask that you bring your own fire wood that has been purchased in the area so as not to bring in any new pests.The parking area is large enough if you want to bring a boat or trailer.Our spot is 3 miles from downtown Freeport and is located near a commuter road so it’s easy access to many spots.Freeport is a coastal town with two state parks, lots of great diverse trails which are well maintained and lots of restaurants/breweries. the cabin is in winter mode and has limit water, please bring all the water you need. if you forget or need more the can supply water when we are available to do so. Our cabin is an off grid (very limited power, now way to charge or plug in AC devices) post and beam structure that we built 8 years ago. It's has a full kitchen, wood stove, and screened porch. There are jugs provided for doing dishes etc and a large (150 gallon) tank outside for refills. There are a generous supply of lanterns (both battery and inflatable solar) flashlights and string lights for lighting. This is a small two story timber frame cabin off grid and secluded deep in the woods. It has a separate outhouse as well as shower stall to use the solar shower bags in. The cabin has a king sized bed in the loft with a child size fold down bunk above it; there is also a pull out couch on the first floor. As well as a kitchen, screened in porch and fire pit. Linen, dishes and utensils are not included please bring all that you need. There is a propane 4 burner stove with oven and solar shower bags. Trash and campfire wood is included. We are very busy with kids and work, we try our best to clean and re-supply between guests but it is not always possible, please let us know if something needs attention!

We built this cabin recently with siblings and a few skilled friends to make a getaway place for the extended family. Just 2 miles off Rte. One our location is quiet and perfect for exploring the midcoast of Maine - a short drive to many favorite places! The cabin is built on property adjacent to our fruit farm which is slowly building up to full production with a kiwi orchard planted, ramps seeded, and a producing strawberry hoophouse for early ripening fruit. We move our horse and pony around to different fields during the warmer months, and keep pekin ducks (the white ones) (now all in retirement!). The farm is 78+ acres with logging roads and is located on a quiet road. Food markets and some good places to eat are within 6-7 miles. There is an outdoor shower, a nice outhouse, a campstove, oil lamps etc - so it's is very old fashion yet comfortable cabin stay! Bring your own towels and maybe some candles. Plenty of board games, and maps of our local hikes and places to explore. If you come in the fall you should know that the roof is insulated but the walls are not - so layer up, bring extra blankets, and hugging the woodstove might be necessary! You'll enjoy the screened porch in all kinds of weather.

Learn more about this land: Private 1.5 acre field off of Staples Point Road, 3 miles from downtown Freeport, 1 mile to Winslow Park. Field is surrounded mostly by forrest, only non-drinking water provided from the garden hose at the entrance to the field. Water is shut off late October through the winter but the site is available. Whatever you bring in, you take out; garbage, human waste, etc. There is a camp fire with benches, plenty of fire wood and a luggable loo if needed.

Just off Route 125, our property offers a space to sleep and cook—no amenities, just the beauty of the outdoors and a place to poop. ***Winter is coming, and we will not be plowing the road to the site, we will allow instant bookings till the driveway is impassable, then we will cancel*** The land borders a lush greenway and a rare wetland ecosystem called a fen. Expect visits from chipmunks, wild turkeys, raccoons, possums, porcupines, and possibly a sharp-shinned hawk overhead or a deer wandering through. With dry leaves on the ground, even small critters can sound surprisingly big, adding to the wild charm of the place. Though the campsite is set back on the property, you may still hear some road noise from Route 125. You’ll catch only a glimpse of one neighbor’s home through the trees (their generator runs for about an hour on Sunday afternoons).

We have an 8X8 cabin available in a small grove on the edge of our homestead/medicinal herb farm. The cabin has a full size bed (bring your own pillows and bedding) with some floor space for a small cot or sleeping pad. The space allows for two adults and two small children, anymore than that would be very tight. The cabin is insulated so the road traffic isn’t bad but it is noticeable at certain hours when the window is open. There is a large parking area with about a 100 yard walk across a lawn and then another 100 yard walk through an uneven wooded trail to the cabin. We have two composting toilet outhouses available for guests use that we take care of on a daily basis.Inside of our large greenhouse, there is a hot water outdoor semi-private shower, only biodegradable soap that we provide can be used. There is also a kitchen and seating area in the greenhouse with a propane grill, toaster oven, microwave and electric kettle and small coffee maker/French press. The greenhouse is a communal space that our family uses as a wood shop and greenhouse space so while the kitchen and shower area are kept clean and clear for guests, the rest of the greenhouse is a working space that can be in various states depending on what projects we have going on. Dogs are allowed but they need to be leashed due to our free ranging ducks and the closeness of the road. We can occasionally provide eggs and some veggies and herbs for tea for a small fee if it’s arranged in advance.We provide a fire pit and kindling but ask that you bring your own fire wood that has been purchased in the area so as not to bring in any new pests.The parking area is large enough if you want to bring a boat or trailer.Our spot is 3 miles from downtown Freeport and is located near a commuter road so it’s easy access to many spots.Freeport is a coastal town with two state parks, lots of great diverse trails which are well maintained and lots of restaurants/breweries. This is the best hipcamp site I've seen so far. We have stayed here 4 or 5 times and will definitely return. My son asked to spend his birthday here this year. There is a wood stove, comfortable beds and even a little electricity for lights. It is very private and quiet. It is well kept and tidy. Dogs are welcome.

It was an enjoyable stay. The host was very responsive and the location is easy to find, and the privy is clean. The camp site itself is centerally located on a lot between neighbouring houses that are in earshot but it's tucked back behind the barn and has some trees and shrubs that offer it a secluded feel. It was perfect for my needs and It is just 27 minutes away from the Casco Bay YMCA by car if you need to work out and get a hot shower.

I always love staying at this HipCamp - am a repeat camper here. It is actually my favorite Hipcamp. Sarah takes a great deal of care to make it nice, with a container of fresh water, a compost toilet, wood for the fire left in various sizes ranging from kindling to bigger logs. It is private and peaceful, and my dogs and I enjoy it immensely.

Loved everything about this cabin. Perfect peaceful getaway to celebrate my good friends birthday. Wood stove heats cabin very well. Screened in porch is a nice added touch. Beds are all very comfy and it was nice having lights the worked! I would come back here again and again as it is just far enough away from civilization but also close if you needed to run somewhere for food or coffee! Also loved the amount of privacy the host gives you. I did not see the host at all during our stay but knew if we needed anything they were a call away.
