Come visit our small collaborative working farm with easy access to all Maine has to offer. Please carefully read the full description to ensure this is a good fit for you. Recommended for a single night, 2 night maximum. This is a very rustic structure on our working suburban farm. There is power, wifi and a composting toilet inside the structure with a curtain for privacy but no running water. There is a foot pump to operate the small sink. The upstairs is accessed by a ladder which is rated for no more than 250 lbs. There are lots of gardens and forest to explore at the back of the property and we are only 2.5 miles from Maine's second largest "city" Lewiston, just over a half hour from Portland and less than two and a half hours from Acadia National Park You can catch a bus 1/2 mile from the house or ride your bike into town if you want to ditch your car for your stay. There are restaurants, shops and lots of hiking and swimming close at hand. Please note we do have farm animals so you might be woken by our crowing rooster. We are also in a suburban setting so it is not a secluded setting or free from the sounds of other humans, cars etc.

Each site is in a wooded, shaded area with a flat area on the ground to place a single large tent. Each site has its own fire ring and a small wooden table. There is wood on the ground you may use for firewood, and ample twigs etc on the ground for kindling (do not cut any trees or branches off trees). There is a covered firewood shed with dry firewood as well. There are maintained trails with river access for kayaks. There are 2 porta potties near the campsites with a handwashing station, that is open year round. There is a single bathroom with flush toilet and sink with running water that is a short walk away (open May-Oct depending on weather) There is an outdoor on-demand hot-water shower at bathroom, with a water hose available as well. On-demand hot water heaters provide hotter water at a low water pressure, and cooler water at full blast. We do provide a large trash bin near the porta potties for trash disposal. DO NOT throw trash into fire pits or burn barrels in the woods. Campsites are a short walk (100-200 feet) away from parking area (you CANNOT drive directly to or park at your campsite). Foster Park is a short bike ride away where you will find greenway trails that run throughout Fort Wayne (ride your bike to downtown!!) Our property backs up to the St Mary's River, bring you kayaks and fishing poles! (We reserve the right to assign you to a different (but equally beautiful) campsite in the case of property maintenance concerns, recent rain or weather conditions etc). PLEASE READ: Hello all! If you're looking for some glamping with creature comforts, while just being 10 minutes away from restaurants. This is the place for you. We are a 5 acre property and home surrounded by tall redwood and oak trees. Very green and lots of shade. These are the amenities/facilities you will have free access to: Pool, Pool chairs and umbrellas, Deck area with sunset view, Trampolines, and hammocks. There is not cooking allowed by or at any of the common areas, due to flies and critters. Cooking and eating is only allowed by your sites and not in any common areas: Hammocks, Trampolines, Pool Area, tables, sink, and deck please follow this rule because we want to prevent our shared areas to be fly and bug infested. We are still working on ridding the flies and cleaning. (please try to bring prepackaged food or something easy. If anything you can drive 10 minutes to nearby food and grocery). In the past we let people cook and eat around the pool but now our whole property is fly infested and I find scattered leftovers on the ground. Thanks for understanding. THERE IS A 1-2 MINUTE HIKE TO THE CAMPSITES 1-5! Poolside campsites are closer to the parking and are bigger. CHECK OUT OUR NEW LODGING: This property is my home that I live in with my 2 kids. It is a rustic and homey vibe, definitely not a hotel. We want you to come knowing what to expect. Our property offers a pool, and trampolines for the kids. We have a deck patio area that overlooks an amazing view of the redwood forest. Most of our guests are those that come from foreign countries and they all LOVE the property. I love leaving a great impression of our area. CAMPGROUND GUIDELINES Pack out your trash. Rinse feet before using the pool. No pool toys or floaties. Always supervise kids. Don’t sit on chair edges or pool cover box. Use stumps or your own table for cooking (not ours). Keep the area clean—no food scraps on the ground. No dogs in the pool area; leashes and cleanup required. No eating in rooms or cabin. Check out on the deck. No smoking (vapes only, away from common areas). The cabin on the property was built by the original homesteaders. Britta and Jim purchased the property in 2009. It had been vacant for a number of years. Giant slash piles scattered the land from previous logging. The house and cabin were not livable and needed major renovations. In 2019, we purchased and brought in a city bus and converted it to a campers kitchen. A year-round creek flows through the property and 3 major rivers are nearby. The Zigzag Mountain Lookout Trail leaves from the property. The property was homesteaded in the early 1900's. E. Mountain Drive was the wagon train trail into Portland, known as the Barlow Trail. Zigzag Mountain Farm offers the perfect escape from the city.

Weekend Trip to Hideout Mountain Lodge

This was a super cool cabin. Lots of attention to detail with the motif for sure. Beautiful area as well. Would stay there again. Had some difficulty with the wifi. I wasn't concerned as much, but the friend i was with figured out how to get it going. Someone not as tech-oriented might have had to call about that. One thing to note about the setup also, is that the area with the main bed is pretty tight. This didn't bother me, but I could picture someone not as flexible taking issue with this.

Buena Vista is a beautiful escape from life. The gracious hosts welcome you in and share their love for their property and animals. Beautiful sunsets, baby goats, adorable guest house, waddling sucks, lovely dogs, highland cows that love apples, bullfrogs that seem to love a good jump scare, did I mention baby goat that love to nibble and cuddle?!?!?! I'm already planning my next trip!

2 nights at Hideout Mountain Lodge

I needed some time away after a long busy season at work. I spent two nights at The Raven and it was a great time. The cabin had everything I needed aside from food and firewood. There were no other guests on the property so I was able to explore around (maybe for future trips?). Its a beautiful place and the view of Lake Henshaw was breathtaking. I loved my experience and look forward to visiting again!

We were in the Tiny Home and it had amazing views of the lavender and rolling hills. We had fun walking to visit the ducks, geese, donkey and LGDs. Weather did not cooperate but the heater worked perfectly.

We couldn’t have asked for a better first Hipcamp experience than Kat and Steve’s Fox’s Hideout. It was the perfect glamping getaway and a charming, peaceful escape from city life. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warmth. Kat and Steve made us feel less like guests and more like family. Their thoughtfully built property is clearly a labor of love and embodies everything you’d hope for in a family-run retreat. Our kids had an absolute blast! Between the trampoline and the tree rope swing, the experience felt magical and wholesome—especially with petals gently falling from the trees as they played. Do not skip the pastry add‑on! Kat and Steve previously owned a bakery, and waking up to generous, warm cherry turnovers, and other pastries was an incredible treat. The accommodations were no frills but comfortable. Even the small details stood out, like their well water that tasted better than bottled. Located close to San Francisco, Fox Hideout is an easy, worthwhile getaway, and we fully intend to return. Kat and Steve are wonderful hosts whose property reflects the true heart and pride they put into it. Highly recommended!

It was a very peaceful stay. Bed was very comfy and the cabin was very cozy. Loved the wood burning stove. The propery was very nice and quiet. We came during a bad wind storm but it was still very peaceful in the cabin. Would definitely recommend staying here.

The full amenities, were a plus. The fridge was great, no need for ice refills. Wifi, stove, microwave, and shower/toilet came in handy, as did the heating(40° temps). Dark sky viewing was excellent, and made viewing Jupiter and the total lunar eclipse with my telescope, amazing. Close proximity to Julian is great.
