Intro: Nature has been calling me since I was a child. Like my own children, I loved to find tiny creatures like frogs and lightening bugs or navigate the creek only to emerge with mud from head to toe. We camp to reset the inner compass & create memories.
We enjoyed our stay immensely. We stayed in cabin 2 which has an amazing south facing view. The deck is shaded by burr oak trees most of the day except for a couple of hours in the afternoon. We were lucky to have a breeze most of the time.
We walked to the pond and enjoyed the fishing. We caught a large mouth bass, small mouth bass, a few crappie and a turtle. It was great fun.
The trails are uphill both ways - literally. My fitbit said I climbed 38 flights of stairs from the cabin to the pond and back. The trail is wide enough for several abreast and limited shade. Bring your hats and water.
This weekend was just what we needed: relaxing, quite, restorative. We plan to return.
