We had a great time at Harmony Lake. We requested a heavily treed, secluded spot and Ken delivered the perfect spot for us. There were other families there but we hardly heard them at all.
There are lots of things to do here: walk the mowed paths around the property, rest on one of the many benches around the lake and watch the geese, go fishing, check out the chickens, pet the horse (Pearl), sit on the beach and read, enjoy one of the paddle-boats, or hop in the lake to cool off.
One of the things that struck me was how immaculate the property is. The pots of flowers around their home and around the beach area and RV spots, not a speck of trash on the ground, and a couple of neat sculptures around. It's very inviting and welcoming.
Ken and Joan are great hosts. They checked in periodically to see how we were doing and if we needed anything. They are kind and generous and good people. We will definitely be back.

in Sawmill Hollow Creek, MissouriPrivate respite
We had an amazing time. It was quiet and peaceful. The water is so calming. There are so many things to do from canoeing/kayaking to fishing to cornhole. The site is very spacious and can accommodate multiple tents. We spent most of our time hanging out by the fire reading and knitting and talking. It was a nice respite. We love the secluded/private feeling of the site.
Fangthorn Forest wooded campsite
in Fangthorn Forest, MissouriA quiet place to feed the soul
I had the best time in a very long time. I love the solitude and quiet from the city noise. The site is well shaded, very large (could accommodate a few tents easily), and mowed. There is a nice picnic table and lots of wood ready to use and stacked nicely. Cheryl has decorated for Halloween and there are blinking eyes and pumpkins that light up the night. There is also a cute fairy garden that is a good spot for a sit. The composting toilet was clean and no odor. There are some mowed trails that meander around the property that I wish I would have explored more. Cheryl is a great host and eager to share the stories of her animals. I took advantage of the dinner she offers and I was NOT disappointed -delicious, home cooked meal. I was grateful to not have to cook and could just enjoy nature. I am a knitter and spinner so I purchased some of her alpaca roving and can hardly wait to spin with it.
Osage Landing
in Osage Landing at Pomona Lake, KansasThis was a great spot. It is well groomed, mowed paths, fire pit, little bit of shade. We loved the solitude and quiet. The star gazing is absolutely beyond explanation. There are lots of wildflowers and dragonflies. Not buggy at all. The lake is so pretty and fairly quiet. Our dogs had a blast. Host was very attentive to our needs and responded quickly to texts.

Savanna Springs
in Savanna Springs, MissouriSolo camping with my dog
I had an amazing time. The campsite is nestled in the bend of a rolling brook. There was a nice fire circle with a couple of large logs for sitting. My dog loved the water and we explored the waterways and game trails.
I love the quiet and solitude. There is plenty of room for kids to run around play games. When it is warmer it would be fun to play in the water. For the most part it is only a few inches deep.
There is lots of space to wander and explore. Itâs perfect for individuals and families.
The host family is gracious and kind. They are doing amazing things with their land.
Enchanted Oaks #7 - Seclusion
in Enchanted Oaks, KansasRelaxing get away
We had a great time. Enjoyed fishing and just doing nothing. Lots of shade. Wide mowed walking paths so we could walk side by side. It was a nice escape from the day to day. The only challenge we had was the constant highway noise.
Site 1 - Horse Creek Adventures: Cabins
in Horse Creek Adventures, IowaRelaxing, quiet, restorative
We enjoyed our stay immensely. We stayed in cabin 2 which has an amazing south facing view. The deck is shaded by burr oak trees most of the day except for a couple of hours in the afternoon. We were lucky to have a breeze most of the time.
We walked to the pond and enjoyed the fishing. We caught a large mouth bass, small mouth bass, a few crappie and a turtle. It was great fun.
The trails are uphill both ways - literally. My fitbit said I climbed 38 flights of stairs from the cabin to the pond and back. The trail is wide enough for several abreast and limited shade. Bring your hats and water.
This weekend was just what we needed: relaxing, quite, restorative. We plan to return.
