Howdy's River Hideout

This site is perfect for anybody who wants a lazy weekend (or longer) trip where they can relax in a secluded nature hideaway. It's a low-key spot but between hiking along the river and taking it easy in the shade of the pecan grove, there wasn't a boring moment of our stay. This site would be perfect for large groups – there are multiple different dispered camp sites in the grove, each with their own picnic table and evenly leveled ground for pitching a tent. The private access to the Medina River headwaters is excellent, complete with a tiny waterfall and refreshingly cool water. If you hike a bit down the river, there's a deeper area with some gorgeous cypress trees where you can see some decently sized fish – that's the spot I would have wanted to hit up if I had brought along my rod. I definitely recommend this campsite!
