Steve is an outstanding Host! The campsite itself was secluded with everything you need. Paths were cut to walk around, great swimming hole just a short walk from the camp. Lot's of wildlife, good fishing. I would love to tell you it was horrible so I could keep this place all to myself, but I couldn't do that to Steve. He would come by and make sure we had anything we needed, yet left us alone to enjoy ourselves but was always available if we needed something. The Kids all had a great time and we will be back soon!
Both Steven & The Hitch N'Post were exactly what we were looking for this holiday weekend! A quick 45-50 minute drive from the KC metro area- The property was huge and there was plenty of room to spread out if we wanted to. The Creek that runs right by the site, had some water in it due to the recent rain- about knee-high in most cases- JUST enough to dip in and cool off- perfect on a hot summer day! Steven was an awesome host, and took most of us on a tour of the property- he was always close by, and always available if the need arose. He stopped in every day, to check on us and make sure that we had everything that we needed- he even took the time to show our younger boys how to throw knives and tomahawks- He was VERY big on explaining the rules to them first and that safety should always come first! If you're looking to unplug completely, which we were, there is little to no cell phone service at the campsite- YAY! But bring your music downloaded if you're wanting some tunes...
All-in-all- We couldn't have asked for a better location or host... and we definitely hope to come back!!
Tons of space and things to do. Our host Steven, went out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed and had a great time. When we arrived he set up our site with tables, grills basically anything we would need, and even got our fire started. Super accommodating and nice guy. It really was a sweet spot, with disc golf and ax throwing. During the night we did hear wild pigs (Or something, that is our best guess) squalling and huffing a little closer to our tent then we would have liked. I would still rate it 10/10. Cool spot 🤙🏻
Fantastic location, Steve was a very welcoming host. My son and got lessons on fishing, throwing knives, and hatchets! The location has fishing in a creek, pond, and from a bridge. Fish were biting! Shaded camp site was nice. Plenty of firewood.
Steven was the consummate host? He was very entertaining with his Mountain Man stories? There are a variety of sites that will accommodate.you needs. A great stop over on a Kansas journey! Watch out for the Cowboy coffee- it's good and strong!
The campsite was excellent! Tons of fun things to do, the kids loved swimming in the creek the most. Steven is a wonderful host, taught me how to throw a tomahawk! Definitely want to stay there again sometime soon
Steve's hospitality is AWESOME. He greeted us near his cabin with hot coffee ready over the fire, and gave us a tour around the property. His place is well kept and has a lot of thoughtful personal touches that make the camping experience really great. Also - it was 92 degrees out that day, but our campsite was back in a wooded area by the creek, and we were very comfortable there. The creek is also quite nice - clean and fairly clear, with some bedrock underneath. Our 3 and 7 year old loved playing down there, and the water levels were low enough when we were there, so they were able to wade, swim, and splash around. The site felt very safe and Steve made efforts to personalize our experience based on our kids' interests. There's a lot to do - a pond, the creek, knife and hawk throwing, and a great disc golf course. We were there with another family, but there were two other families camping together on the other side of the property and we never heard them. It felt very private. We will definitely be back! Thanks for a great time, Steve!
