This cabin was exactly what I was looking for to take a 3-day writer's retreat, and Ed was the consummate host.
I got a solid amount of work done on my first book, and also got to get in a little fishing here and there. The cabin was fully equipped with all the amenities you could want, including a full-sized air fryer!
I highly recommend this cabin to anyone who is looking for a little privacy and chance to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

I had such a wonderful and peaceful week at the cabin. Ed has obviously put a lot of work and care into his land to create the perfect nature retreat experience with comfortable amenities. There are plenty of trails to explore, water to cool off in, plants and animals to observe, and books to read. Everything I could have asked for. I would love to come back for another relaxing stay!

Ed was an amazing host and the place was incredible too! It is on a large plot of land and is very relaxing. We even had the pleasure of having Ed on site the first night and got to learn more about the land. The pond and the trails were very relaxing as well.
Overall 10/10 experience, we would definitely stay here again

Really lovely green space! Safe, private, well supplied. A quiet and peaceful area, very out of the way. No traffic, cool mountain air, frogsong, and deer spotting. Great communication from Ed and we enjoyed meeting his lovely wife and son!
We stayed in the campsite, but there are also cabins available. A communal pavilion in the middle of the cabins has wifi and a hammock. There were multiple well built firepits, and plenty of firewood for sale.
The well water was spectacular. We enjoyed walking some of the little paths around the property. Stunning ferns and a little pond for swimming and boating. A bathouse with a toilet, sink, and shower was available for our use.
There was no hot water in the bathhouse, but that was being fixed and not really a problem.
You do have to drive through water to get into the main area. If you're driving a truck, nbd, if you have a car you may want to park in the field by the gate.

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Mountain Top. It was peaceful, beautiful, and not too hot. We made some good memories swimming and using the kayaks on the lower pond, looking for crawdads in the creek, and roasting s’mores over the fire pit. The cabin was comfortable and it was nice to have all the amenities. I hope we will be able to return in the future.

Mountaintop Cabin was amazing! The cabin is small but very comfortable. It is well equipped, we had everything we needed. I had no cellphone service with AT&T. Zero. But connected to WiFi and was perfectly content. WiFi is fast, I was able to do some work and stream Netflix. The grounds are well manicured and well marked. We walked through the trails and made our way up some big hills. Very beautiful area. I would come in the daytime, as navigating the route through the National Forest may be challenging at night. I did not explore the larger area around the cabin at all, so I don’t know if there is a town or anything nearby. I brought everything I needed and stayed right there. Great time. Myself, my 6 year old, and my dog loved it and hope to return.

Nice quaint cabin and property perfect for a weekend getaway. The host was great, and you have everything you need to go off the grid. Definitely worth the stay, nice hiking around the property and time for camp fires and fishing.

My kids loved hanging out at Mountain Top this last weekend and are already asking when we can go back as it is one of our new favorite getaways! The place is serene and the kids loved playing in the pond and nearby creek. The cabin itself had just about everything you would need for a weekend getaway- Ed is a gracious host and is extremely prompt at responding to any questions, etc, that you may have.

Had a great time in this cool little cabin in the mountains. My wife, kids, and dogs had space to sleep thanks to the bunk beds, and relax thanks to the back deck being enclosed so the pups can come and go. My son loved fishing off the back desk, and the trails were nicely cleared. All that with a fire pit, stocked kitchen, and WiFi to stream movies, what else could you ask for. Thanks Ed for your help and quick answers to any questions I had. See you next time.

It's a beautiful setting and it helped our family feel close to nature for a weekend getaway. My daughters had a blast exploring the property and the woods, swimming in the pond, and roasting marshmallows. It's a great location for star gazing as well, and we had a strange combination of lighting strikes off in the distance while the sky above was quite clear enough to see the milky way. Ed is a great host - very responsive and obviously cares about the experience of his guests. One last little plus is the cabin is very well stocked.

We absolutely loved staying here this weekend. Our dog enjoyed all the amentities for dogs (dog dish, toys, loads of land to explore). There is also a gate on the deck for safety of dogs. We had the whole property to ourselves so we explored everything possible. Ed lays out the property pretty well so you know what to explore. We went fishing and also visited a local diner. But this is truly a fully equipped home. We were surprised with how prepared this place was. They have everything you could possibly need. Ed is very good at answer texts and even accommodating.

Mountain Top definitely made for a wonderful getaway!
Our family of four enjoyed our stay in our own special ways: playing in the pond, making crepes out on the deck, exploring the trails high and low, lounging with book, watching the stars (meteor shower), etc.
Ed and his family have an amazing property, and we’re so grateful for them sharing it with others.
We would be happy to visit Mountain Top again!

Wonderful little cabin, very clean and has everything you need for a weekend away. It fit the four of us, plus two dogs (with a large dog crate taking up space) just fine!
There was PLENTY to do, between the little ponds with fishing, kayaking, and entertaining my kids with all the little salamanders and tadpoles.
The trail is gorgeous, and so peaceful.
My family enjoyed making s'mores and eating dinner by the fire pit.
We will definitely be going back!

We booked a cabin for my son’s birthday and it was a great experience! The facilities are clean and the cabins are in a gorgeous location overlooking either the river or the pond (depending on which cabin you’ve booked). We booked the smaller cabin and the amount of room we had despite the size of the cabin was very comfortable. The trails that we walked were so scenic and calming, even after the nights of rain we experienced. Our dog is probably the biggest advocate for the wonderful location (she jumped into the pond after the kids a few times 🤭). If you just want to enjoy a quiet night in the cabin you’re able to connect to a few Wi-Fi networks; all of which work very well as does the TV if you’re looking forward to a movie night. All in all we loved our weekend trip and have plans to come back soon!

We stayed in the main cabin and pretty much had the entire property to ourselves. Ed let us know before hand, but you'll need 4 wheel drive to access the property by car. It rained the night before so we had to crossed a flowing river in our jeep, which was part pf th If you stay in the cabin, you need to bring your own sheets snd bedding. There was a couch that pulls out into a bed, and a set pf 3 bunk beds. Everything functioned great and the cabin was lovely, just a little sticky, there are fans but no AC. and Ed was a great host and provided great info.

We enjoyed Ed’s place for a family getaway – this place is peaceful and remote. The cabin is smartly laid out, with a well-stocked kitchen, tons of seating, some board games, and extras to make our stay comfortable. Strong sturdy bunk beds worked fine for my 4 and 6 year old, with surprisingly comfortable mattresses. The gravel and outbuildings in the front aren’t much to look at, but the view from the back porch is stunning. The covered deck kept us comfortable and happy while we ate breakfast outside during the rain.
We appreciated the canoe and 2 kayaks available. And loved that there were plenty of piles of dirt and water for our kids to play in – they loved catching tadpoles and getting dirty, Risk-adverse parents of toddlers may find it hard to relax given the rock piles, farm gear and steep hills around. We were lucky to have the whole peaceful place to ourselves, but there are 2 other small cabins pretty closeby. I’ve tried to share some photos here to give a feel for the layout.
Ed was an amazing host, very responsive, and suggested a hike we went on that was beautiful. We enjoyed the wildlife – fish, deer, thousands of tadpoles, and bizarre bird noises! Thanks for the hospitality and for sharing your beautiful slice of tranquility!

Ed’s cabin was wonderful. The camp grounds were private and serene, the fire pit was perfect, the grill was functional, the private hiking options were excellently maintained. It evokes that feeling of being at a sleep away camp out in the woods ... with most of the creature comforts of being at home. Overall, it was a great place to get away with that special someone (and/or children, if you have them).

My husband and I spent a great weekend at Mountain Top! The cabin is lovely and cozy and the surrounding landscape is beautiful and peaceful. I took an afternoon walk around the property, we enjoyed some fishing and sat around the campfire for hours just enjoying the natural beauty. It was a wonderful couple's weekend and would also be an ideal family trip. The zipline, loads of space to explore and fun outdoor activities would be great for kids. I highly recommend Mountain Top!
