Private camp on 18 acres in Olympic Rain Peninsula. No matter the size of group It's still only one group at a time and campers have the entire camp to themselves. One main camp with a fire pit, one picnic shelter, and cabin.   There is a shelter building by the fire pit that has a new roof on it and the cabin is great for groups and converts into a full sized bed/bunk. The camp is up a steep 200ft dirt driveway so 4x4 or all wheel drive could be necessary especially if it is rainy. There is parking down below.  Other than my own  cabin through the woods ( you can see the roof of my cabin and hear my chicken ) up a different driveway it's totally private. The star gazing can be amazing and the birds and wildlife are abundant especially since the Olympic Mountain and Parks are right here. I'm working on better R/V parking and turning rounds but it's still not ideal for long/low rigs.  I'm easy to get a hold of and glad to accommodate. All are welcome.   There is a propane heater in the little cabin now and a Propane fire pit which  can be used during burn bans if necessary.  The camp can be almost Clamping for a couple or small family as the cabin can be heated and made into a full size bed.  There is a steep trail just above the camp that has a great view down to the bay.  The upper camp is great for lots of tent campers in SUV's because there is shelter. Campers and R/V's are fine in a spot just below the camp. Since there is no power at the camp and generators are not allowed at night or for sound systems or big Raves. The camp is an unplugged experience in nature. All that said, noise isn't a problem and there is plenty of space for big groups so feel free to inquire if you have a special event in mind.

Incredible stay at Rutabega! The land is so lovely and we had an incredible time. There’s so much to explore on the property, it’s clear that Brian has put a lot of care into making it a lovely place for people to enjoy the outdoors. Brian was a very hospitable host, and was accommodating to our needs! 10/10 would recommend.

Exactly as described. We loved the privacy. The dogs appreciated the privacy as well... local wildlife attracted their attention at times, but they are older and didn't care too much. Nice short trails on the property. Open sky to see the stars. Enough protection for a couple rainy nights. We tented but you could easily set up the cabin for beds. Brian was easy to communicate with and kept us supplied with water and firewood. He also gave tips on nearby recommendations. A great location to explore the area. Felt like glamping compared to our usual backpacking trip!

Loved it! Cool little spot not far from Quilcene. Lots of room to spread out your sites if you have a group. The host is very nice and does a great job with communication.

Great spot! Quiet and private. It was perfect for our 10 month old son's first camping trip. Didn't have to worry about his crying bothering other people, or other people bothering him during his naps.

I went camping at rutabaga ridge with a group of friends for my 21st birthday. The property was spacious and beautiful and the cabin was perfect for storing food and hanging out to escape the bugs.

The kitchen shelter was super functional and the toilet was clean and serviceable. Lots of spots for tents and plenty of shade. Very private and great for our nervous dog. We listened to the birds and enjoyed the down time.

We loved Brian’s place, very hip and quiet. Brian was a cool dude who reminded us a little of Bill Murray. He gave us some good suggestions on how to spend our last day on the peninsula.
