Enchanted Hidden Cabin

Cabin · Sleeps 6 · 5 beds · 1 toilet
Private and secluded spot to relax and unwind Off-the-Grid, in a  " Dry" cabin tucked between Charlottesville and Richmond VA.  This tranquil and secluded wooded setting has a relaxing view of the pond on our 200 acre farm. This Glamping experience is in a quaint old 1950's hunting cabin and was renovated with a double pull out futon & 4 cots, composting toilet and a 5 gallon gravity water dispenser, fire pit and access to a canoe to float the pond or fish. New vinyl plank flooring makes you feel like you are camping in luxury. There is also a Futon sofa that pulls out into a double bed. This is the perfect place for a special birthday or anniversary, without the hustle and bustle, come let your hair down and commune with nature.  One glitch is the 6'5" high ceiling, but it is offset by the luxury of having a composting toilet and the comfort of not sleeping on the ground.  Easy access parking is only a few feet from the cottage.  If you need the comfort of home like a fan, or coffee pot, we have an Inside outlet to connect to your generator or rent one from us.   There is cornhole, charcoal and lighter fluid in picnic shelter nearby, and 8 miles of hiking and mountain biking trails surround the property and you are on the edge of a creek.  Very shaded area so you may not see the rain until you hear it on the metal roof and in the dead of summer it is usually 10 degrees cooler due to all the foliage.   The open field just up the hill, allow for incredible stargazing and sunset views.  Covered bridge picnic area with a weber grill is nearby in case it rains.   Remember to bring your camp cooler, flash light and sleeping mats after all you are camping.  Bedding is not provided so bring you pillow and sleeping bags! Abundant wildlife sightings of wild turkey, geese, blue herons, bald eagle, rabbits and deer are an everyday experience.   Our open fields frequently have wildflowers and butterflies in them almost year round if you are a photo aficionado.  The view from your patio is serene and wooded, and might just be enchanted as it is definitely hidden. We hope you'll come relax and unwind with us soon.

This was my 4th time staying at the Hawthorne Hollar cabin if that says anything. It's pretty much my go to campsite for a weekend getaway these days. Moon and Julie are awesome hosts. If you're looking for more info I left reviews for each of my other trips that go into a lot more detail about what makes this such a great place to stay.

This is our 7th or 8th time staying at Moon & Julie's. As always, it was a great stay. Privacy, great trails to walk the dogs, space for the pups to chase balls off leash, etc. Moon and Julie are awesome hosts and come and greet you when you arrive to make sure all is well. We would love to stay again as always.
