Imo
Taylor M.has mixed feelings towards this listing.
Paradise on Lake Texoma was easily accessible off the main road, close to town but far enough away and has a killer view of the sunset. I stayed here Mid August and this was my personal experience staying there:
I was greeted by the office ladies and they were super sweet and very helpful. I was given a map, a caboodle basket that had thoughtful products in a clear bag that was worth $20 if you opened it or used one item in it (I set this aside) and then found my way to my cabin (#13) . It looked just like the picture. Cute, adorable, AC unit and overlooked the lake.
The outdoor kitchen area would have been nice to utilize but the fly situation was so ridiculous. I opened my car and somehow 15 flies were already buzzing around inside it. Nearly impossible to get them out. This happened every time I opened my car.
The bathroom/shower area was a scorching metal box on wheels that was HOT and rusty. I would have preferred to just squat but there wasn't a private area to do that away from people. I didn't shower. *I would LOVE to have had an outdoor shower area! Maybe that could be an addition to the property?*
The sliding door on the cabin does not lock. Being a solo traveling female, I felt hesitant about this as it is not prefaced at the front office or before you make a payment to stay there. So, I went and found a stick long enough and sturdy enough to act as a "lock" to the sliding door.
There were loud gun shots being fired across the way as well during sun down.
The water is easily accessible which is nice to cool off in.
Overall, I would not stay here again. Hindsight. Had I known, I would have rather stayed at Eisenhower SP and slept in my tent. I would say for $90/night you're paying for the AC and a cute Instagram post.
Best,
Taylor

I have stayed on the Sky Ranch property before in the South Shelter and this time I was sleeping in my car so I just wanted something to hangout by!
The desert ramada was perfect for that. I love the metal addition to the back of the driftwood structure as this provides a great barrier for some of those windy sunsets.
The Sky Ranch property is awesome. The views, the location, the host and the accessibility are what keep me coming back.
Cheers!

Sky Ranch South Shelter
in Sky Ranch Terlingua, TexasEnclosed. exposed, elephant toes?
Staying here was really awesome and exactly where I thought it was. However, I did think that the shelters were farther spread apart. That wasn't an issue nor would that detour Chris and me from staying there again! We loved it!
The sunrise view is incredible. Its about 20 mins from the Ghosttown and I love the shelter aspect.
My only suggestions would be to bring some more batteries for the lanterns as ours were out. and also trim the sheet metal down along the outskirts. That stuff was super sharp and I almost cut my arms resting on the ledge at one point...just a thought.
Will definitely stay here again. The shelter was great! :) Thank you for the awesome directions and great hospitality. West Texas is the best.
Once again, these are just suggestions
La Casita Blanca
in Los Alamos Ranch Big Bend Texas, TexasFirstly Stela is such a sweet heart and a great communicator! La Casita Blanca was absolutely a great stay. Upon arrival Stela was very good at reminding us to download and save directions to the ranch as there is no cell service out there. We found the place with little problems :) The casita is adorable, homey, and just what you want after a long drive. Chris and I were very warm as it got pretty chilly at night. There was a floor heater provided for us in the casita which definitely was a plus! The guest house which holds the bathroom is a short walk from the casita, was not a problem at all. We took advantage of the dry creek bed hiking trail Stela recommended and watched the sunset while making a fire. The views from the property were incredible and would love to return!
ArtV
in The ArtV, TexasThis was such an awesome escape from the city. Kristi is a wonderful host. She greeted us onsite, gave us the tour and run down and then let us be. Chris and I stayed here for only one night but are already eager to return! It was super cozy, homey, and corky! Kristi, your attention to detail is awesome!
We highly recommend this place to anyone who doesn't want to stay in a hotel, primitive camp, or just wants a little romantic getaway in the woods.
We'll be back :)
P.S. We didn't realize it until we arrived but we stayed at Casa Luna Llena on the Full Moon in Scorpio. Rad.
