Comfortable and easy to get to
This was such a beautiful area! We had a really comfortable and peaceful night! The directions were really good, and it was easy to get to. Jake sent some extra information and was really responsive. We’ll definitely stay there again.
Enclosed. exposed, elephant toes?
Staying here was really awesome and exactly where I thought it was. However, I did think that the shelters were farther spread apart. That wasn't an issue nor would that detour Chris and me from staying there again! We loved it!
The sunrise view is incredible. Its about 20 mins from the Ghosttown and I love the shelter aspect.
My only suggestions would be to bring some more batteries for the lanterns as ours were out. and also trim the sheet metal down along the outskirts. That stuff was super sharp and I almost cut my arms resting on the ledge at one point...just a thought.
Will definitely stay here again. The shelter was great! :) Thank you for the awesome directions and great hospitality. West Texas is the best.
Once again, these are just suggestions
I spent one night at the south shelter and had a wonderful time. Directions were easy to follow. Jake was very helpful. It was a very windy spring night, so having the structure was very nice. Its very spacious. The view is also very nice.
Perfect big bend getaway
I loved my stay at Sky Ranch! I spent two nights camped out there while I explored Big Bend National Park.
The location is a 15 minute straight shot down 118 to the park. The sunrises and sunsets were incredible with unobstructed views on all sides. The campsite was clean and private without feeling too isolated. I had a big storm roll through my second night and the shelter was perfect for keeping my tent extra dry and protected from the winds.
I had a great time and would absolutely recommend. I can’t wait to visit again!
It was only ok but worked out
Distance to Big Bend and Terlingua was no problem. No road noise. Shelter was ok but we could have used more than two chairs! No amenities other than shelter itself, and lodge and water were a long way off down a dirt road, maybe 18 mi. Bring in ALL the water you need. Don't expect to use lodge for bathroom or shower--way too far.
