Nice spot, very private and well kept. Easy to find and beautiful sunset views! We brought a Subaru Outback with a 15 foot pop-up camper and a tent. It was a tight squeeze to turn the pop-up around, wouldn't try with anything larger. Big Bay Town Park is about 2 miles with trash, toilet/showers and beach access. Easy to get back to town, next time I'll bring a bike for more exploring!

Great for self contained smaller vehicles. Definitely wouldn’t tow anything in there. The gazebo and bbq were helpful. Plenty of dead wood around for a fire. We wished there was beach access but the view was nice. Campsite was fairly clean, we always try to leave places cleaner than how we found them but had to abort when the kids found some interesting trash, maybe there was some honeymooners staying before us lol. Cool quiet spot on an island with not a lot of public access outside the state park. Thanks

Amazing spot on an adorable island. You do need to take a ferry to get to the island but it runs a lot. Spot is a private well maintained wooded lot right on Lake Superior. Not very level but nothing a few blocks couldn’t fix. Would definitely come back!

What a view! Schuyler’s land faces towards the sunset with views of several of the Apostle Islands. We drove our camper van pulling a utility trailer down a short two track driveway, I wouldn’t go out with anything much larger. The terrain is quite uneven but we were able to find a flat enough spot to settle in and enjoy a beautiful evening. The next morning was peaceful and a nice breeze off the lake kept the bugs manageable.

It’s a great and private spot. Could use some clearing and it’s hard to turn around and only appropriate for a very small camper. Fantastic location. Friendly neighbor dog comes to meet your pooch daily. A nice way to enjoy island life! I’d reserve it again. Used a 5x10 Hiker Trailer (square drop) to great effect. Surfaces are uneven.

This place was great! Nice and private even though other yurts were nearby. Quiet and relaxing. Plenty of firewood to be had. All the necessities were provided, even coffee and tea. There was also a handy cart for toting supplies up the hill. The only additional thing that I wish was supplied would have been a flyswatter :)

Pros:
-Get to take a cool ferry out to the island
-Outer loop sites are indeed private! (Thanks, Suzy)
-No road noise or light pollution! Quiet, and dark.
-Many recycling receptacles, even for propane canisters
-Outrageously beautiful beaches, with short walks/hikes (~quarter mile or less) to access them
-Small grocer, laundromat, coffee shop, souvenir shop, and post office all easily accessible at the ferry landing
Cons:
-Ferry trips can get expensive; round-trip for a vehicle and two passengers will run around $50
-Stowe all foodstuffs, as the raccoons (trash pandas) are plentiful. While not aggressive, they will sneak up on you in the dark.

You'll need to catch the ferry (auto and passenger) from adorable little Bayfield, Wisconsin. It takes about a half hour to cross to Madeliene Island, and from there it's a short drive to the campsite and Big Bay. The campsites are basic, not very scenic but decent enough. The outer loops are fairly private, with enough trees and vegetation between sites to keep things personal. Our site -- West Loop 047 -- had a small stream in the back, but nothing so big that mosquitos were a problem. Try to find an outer loop site for maximum privacy. There are nice bathrooms and showers at this campground, and a cozy little visitor center/park office, with souvenirs, interesting books to check out library-style, and friendly staff.
