GeerCrest Farm was settled by the Geer family in 1848, and is still owned and stewarded by the family. The house Ralph and Mary Geer built in 1851 stands and is one of the oldest in Oregon to remain in the same family.
The farm features creeks, forests, pastures, orchards and gardens as well as the historic buildings. Currently we have four friendly sheep and a small flock of Mallard ducks to keep us company. The Pioneer Memorial Orchard features over 50 vairieties of pre 1850 apple trees. The Heritage Grove has ten fruit and nut trees that were recognizeds as a memorial the the early pioneers of the nursery trade by Oregon Heritage Tree program. The 20 acre property, offers three tent camp sites Including the Tree House site, as well as two forest cabins and a small forest bunkhouse (sleeps 6).
Our peaceful, small farm offers a reflective immersion in nature and history among the occasional quacking of ducks and baaas of sheep. The scenery from all corners of the farm is incredible - a favorite is the westward view of the valley pasture at sunset -- called "Homer's View" after famous political cartoonist and Geer descendant, Homer Davenport. No matter which camping site you choose, the sounds of the creek, pond frogs, or conversing owls are sure to lull you to sleep.
Feel free to roam the farm, but always leave gates as you find them, open or closed. Please say hello to our sheep and barn cats (they may say hello first). Explore the Heritage Grove of historic trees, the Memorial apple orchard and pear glade with varieties circa 1840s, indulge your senses in our medicinal herb garden, and chat with our farm family while they water the veggie gardens, if you so wish! Your experience will certainly be unique to the season.

Our campsite is nestled among the trees next to the river. There's lots to enjoy. Do you like hiking? Silver Falls State Park is only 36 miles away. Boating? You can put in your kayak/canoe at Gills Landing in Lebanon and float down the river back to the campsite. Fishing? Bring your fishing pole and try catch and release in our pond. Swimming? Take a swim in the cool water. Of course, you can just relax by the water's edge and enjoy the tranquility provided by the soothing flow of the river.
This 192 sq. ft. cabin is very basic. There is no shower, but there is a portable toilet with a wash station located outside. We do provide a full 5-gallon water cooler for drinking since there is no running water. For cooking there is a 24" Blackstone 2-burner griddle, and small propane cans are provided. Also, the cabin is furnished with a small supply of pots and pans. There is a battery that provides lighting, and phone charging is available in the cabin. During the cooler months, there is a small wood stove for heating, and firewood is provided. The cabin sleeps 2, but there is room for a camper and/or tents. This campsite is meant to be very simple, so you should plan on bringing whatever you may need/want for camping.

We purchased this slice of paradise in 2003 as a place to relax, recharge, and someday build our dream home. It started as nothing more than a gravel road leading to a small clearing with an old bus and a couple decks. Our children have grown up out here learning a deep respect for nature and the real (non digital) world. Now empty nesters, we live on site. The cabin on the property was built by the original homesteaders. Britta and Jim purchased the property in 2009. It had been vacant for a number of years. Giant slash piles scattered the land from previous logging.
The house and cabin were not livable and needed major renovations. In 2019, we purchased and brought in a city bus and converted it to a campers kitchen.
A year-round creek flows through the property and 3 major rivers are nearby. The Zigzag Mountain Lookout Trail leaves from the property. The property was homesteaded in the early 1900's. E. Mountain Drive was the wagon train trail into Portland, known as the Barlow Trail.

🔥 Camp Festivus is a unique 1926 Vintage cabin that has been thoughtfully restored, featuring a stone (Steiner) fireplace, reclaimed barnwood and 6 person hot tub all on a private creekside acre.
💧Challenge your nerve by swimming in Clear Creek or relax in the hot tub over looking the water. Indulge your inner slug, grab a book and read in the hammock.
🎣 Feeling lucky, you can try fishing in the back yard or walk across the street to see if they are biting in the Sandy River. Afterwards you can cook up what you catch at the outdoor fire pit or grill, then fall asleep to the sound of water or gaze at the old growth trees or creek view from every window.
🎿 You can throw down your gear or tune your bike or skis in our large heated mudroom, and toast s'mores out back or come inside and listen to your favorite music via Spotify or watch a movie on one of our flat screen TV's. Do you want a bit more privacy for the adults, then the kids can go down to the comfy TV room with flat screen, dvd player and stereo, there are tons of pillows and fold out mats to relax, watch movies, or listen to music.
🪑 The iron and woodwork and much of the furniture have been custom designed and produced to maximize the beauty of the cabin as well as the surrounding area.
The cabin has a well equipped kitchen that will accommodate 8 people comfortably at meal time, a living room that centers around the fireplace, a sitting room that provides both an extension of the living room and a connection to the covered deck and the creek out back.
There are two bedrooms on the main floor. The main bedroom, with a queen bed, has its own bathroom. The second bedroom also has a queen bed and an annex bedroom with both a full size bed and a trundle below. There is also the upstairs loft space, which has two full sized beds each with their own trundle bed. In addition, there is a bonus space downstairs with it own full sized day bed that stays nice and cool in the summer, but needs a little pre-heating in the winter months to be comfortable for most folks. Our family’s favorite thing about the main floor bedrooms is their proximity to the sounds of the creek.

The river was a little low mid July but it didn’t stop us from swimming! Found lots of salamanders, frogs, minnows, and cool rocks. The cabin was well equipped and comfortable for sleeping. The tent that sits over the toilet has a rip in the bottom so expect bugs. But other than that we had a great time :)

Weekend Trip to Retreat to the Farest
This was my second experience at Paula’s and I’m sure not the last. It’s a beautiful location, and she provides very clear instructions for accessing the property, finding sites, and using the amenities. A great launching point for Sandy and the Mt Hood Forest. Would definitely recommend! :)

We loved glamping at Paula's farm! She was very friendly and helpful getting us set up with what we needed. The pre-set tent was super cozy and full of extras (bedside table, chairs, lantern, blanket) and the bathroom facility was very clean with nice hot showers! It was perfect for our friend's first time camping! There was some neighbor noise one of the evenings we stayed and some dog barking from the adorable working dog Etta, but we were totally fine sleeping with earplugs. Definitely hoping to come back!

Very lovely property with welcoming staff. Excellent signage throughout to help you navigate the area. We loved the mix of yurt and tent sites. The city bus converted into a communal kitchen was well-equipped! There are a ton of hiking trails that easily accessible and for a variety of skill-level. The playground equipment, firepit, and tree swing were great for our toddler to enjoy. We will definitely be coming back here again in the future.

If tiny home perfection existed, this is it. EVERYTHING you need in a tiny space, facing the best view, and 15 minutes from a cute town or a great state park. I loved that we could watch swallows build a nest, watch the World Cup, turn on and off the AC, dine while watching all the birds across the fields and further mountains, play baseball and soccer with the kiddo in front of the tiny house and bring the dog for it all.
Connie and Aaron were VERY responsive for our couple of questions, but otherwise left us alone.
I’ll be back, and you should go.

We love the Big Tiny! Just the right size for us, and has everything we need. The farm is beautiful! We love watching the sun set over the lavender fields, and visiting the animals. We also love how close Buena Vista is to Silver Falls state park and to Silverton. Really wonderful place, we'll definitely return for a third time!

We had a wonderful stay! The cabin was perfectly nestled next to the waterfall, making for a peaceful and beautiful setting. The host provided clear, detailed instructions before our arrival, so everything was easy to find and access. The cabin itself was spotless, comfortable, and well maintained. Our dog absolutely loved exploring the property, and it was the perfect place for a relaxing getaway. We'd definitely stay here again!

Detroit Lake is awesome! The park is HUGE so there are hundreds of sites available. The ones closest to the lake (furthest from the highway) are the best ones. The restrooms and showers are clean, and hot running showers are FREE. The campsites are a little close together so it can be a bit loud. This park is also dog-friendly and bike friendly. There are lots of different beach access points to the lake w/ a beautiful view of Mt. Jefferson. Don't forget to bring floaties and rafts for the lake. Each campsite comes with a table, fire pit and grill, and a nearby water spigot as well as dump station. Very convenient campsite, and helpful staff.
If you forget anything, it's an easy drive/walk/bike ride to Detroit where you can get supplies.
