Spring Lake Ranch boasts countless trails and lake activities. Formerly known as Sayersbrook Bison ranch, at one time it was one of the largest Bison ranches in the world. You will have amazing lake views and will be close to hiking trails, horseback riding, and wine tasting at Edge Cliff Wineries which is next door to us. The Magic Land Homestead

4 sites · Lodging70 acres · Grubville, MO
The Magic Land Homestead is our 70 acre wooded private retreat. We are about an hour from St. Louis, Missouri, on a beautiful country drive. We rent our Enchanted Treehouse that sleeps up to 9 guests for those who enjoy a more pampered getaway with a real bathroom and shower, and we also rent out a Rustic A-Frame that's a little more primitive with a composting toilet and a hose shower out back. Our four free range lovable dogs, colorful chickens, silly geese and goofy turkey Hammerstein, are usually part of the fun of your stay. We have a 3 acre lake with kayak and paddle boat and dock as well as a spring fed wet weather creek. Our mission is to grow our own organic food and to live as sustainably and mindfully as possible in connection with Mother Nature. So the guests we attract are looking for a sacred more quiet getaway. If you wish to throw a big party another place would be best. There are some trails and open areas to play, along with fun swings and an opportunity to reconnect with your soul. We look forward to seeing you soon!

Lakeside Tipi Retreat

1 site · Lodging42 acres · Potosi, MO
Welcome to Your Lakeside Tipi Escape! From the moment you pass through the stone gate guarded by gargoyles, you’ll feel it — the energy shifts. You’ve entered a truly special place. Nestled within the Ozark National Forest, our 42-acre sanctuary is designed to help you relax, recharge, and reconnect with nature—and yourself. Whether you're fishing on our private lake, hiking nearly a mile of marked trails, kayaking, swimming, or simply lounging beside the soothing waterfall, there are countless ways to enjoy the peaceful beauty of this land. Nearby attractions like Elephant Rocks, Johnson Shut-Ins, and Council Bluff Lake offer even more adventures just a short drive away. You will also enjoy the beautiful countryside drive to the property. As you drive in past the lake, you will find the tipi lightly tucked into the pine trees. It is close enough to the lake, waterfall and creek that you can hear it at all hours, day and night. Inside, you'll find two cozy beds (one queen, one full), ambient lighting, electricity, and a propane firepit for a cozy atmosphere. Just steps away is our shared gathering cabin, which includes a shower, kitchenette, and restroom facilities. We live on-site and love to share the land with our guests. Cindy is a Master Gardener, and Jim is a spiritual life coach and energy worker—both are happy to offer sessions upon request. Feel free to wander through our garden and sample seasonal organic veggies, or check out the progress on our innovative underground greenhouse. Friendly visits from our two dogs and horse are common—they love people! But if you'd prefer no animal interaction, just let us know in advance. You’ll also find yourself close to charming wineries, antique shops, and unique boutiques like The Old Village Mercantile. We're always happy to provide recommendations to help you make the most of your stay. Bonus: A portion of every stay supports Old Man River Nature Retreat, our nonprofit offering nature-based healing retreats for veterans and first responders with PTSD. https://oldmanriver.org https://www.facebook.com/OMRNRetreat Come experience the peace. If only 1 site is requested the others are then blocked to allow guests privacy during their stay. If another person requests to stay and it is booked, we will check with the current reservation for approval. We also allow groups to book and camp together if needed (use both rv pads, or tent camp). We do offer 50amp and 30amp power options (2 different RV parking sites). Camping in Robertsville State Park guide

Overview

About

Looking for a secluded getaway close to the city? Just 50 minutes outside of St. Louis, Robertsville State Park is a rustic retreat, perfect for an off-grid getaway. The Meramec River and Calvey Creek border the park, offering scenic spots for fishing and boating. Hike through the hardwoods, watching for migratory birds, an oxbow slough, rippling streams, and pawpaw trees. If you’re lucky you might find some pawpaw fruit in late summer or early fall. Though almost-forgotten, it is the largest edible native fruit in North America. After a day of exploring the grand wilderness, camp under a canopy of trees..

Notable campgrounds

  • Best for tent campers: Book one of Robertsville Campground’s three basic sites with wooden platforms, perfect for pitching a level tent or for creating a cozy patio.
  • Best for RVs: Robertsville Campground’s electric sites primarily offer 30-amp service, though a handful of 50-amp sites are available.
  • Best for camping with friends and family: Robertsville Campground’s family sites offer paired campsites, with a shared yard.

Tips for snagging a campsite

  1. Reservations may be made up to 12 months in advance through the Missouri State Park website or by phone.
  2. The campground is open year round, with reservations offered April 1 through October 31
  3. Showers and water are available April 1 through October 31.
  4. The park offers basic sites, with no hookups, and electric-only sites. Water is available at spigots located throughout the campground.
  5. Restrooms are open in the off season.

When to go

In spring, wildflower blossoms add color to the forests, as the tree leaves begin to fill in. Bluebonnets arrive in April and can best be enjoyed with a hike along the Spice Bush Trail. By summer, the towering trees add shade to the campground, though high temperatures may reach the 90s in July and August. Humidity tends to be high at this time, as well. As fall arrives, October offers the best chance for enjoying the colorful foliage before temperatures begin to drop below freezing in the winter months.

Know before you go

  • The park’s front gate locks at 9pm during the on season.
  • A single-lane boat launch is open daily, with hours varying by season.
  • Swimming is not allowed due to the amount of boat traffic.
  • Interpretive programs are offered seasonally, with an onsite naturalist available in the off season.
