The Magic Land Homestead is our 70 acre wooded private retreat. We are about an hour from St. Louis, Missouri, on a beautiful country drive. We rent our Enchanted Treehouse that sleeps up to 9 guests for those who enjoy a more pampered getaway with a real bathroom and shower, and we also rent out a Rustic A-Frame that's a little more primitive with a composting toilet and a hose shower out back. Our four free range lovable dogs, colorful chickens, silly geese and goofy turkey Hammerstein, are usually part of the fun of your stay. We have a 3 acre lake with kayak and paddle boat and dock as well as a spring fed wet weather creek. Our mission is to grow our own organic food and to live as sustainably and mindfully as possible in connection with Mother Nature. So the guests we attract are looking for a sacred more quiet getaway. If you wish to throw a big party another place would be best. There are some trails and open areas to play, along with fun swings and an opportunity to reconnect with your soul. We look forward to seeing you soon!

The Magic Land Homestead is an amazing 70 acre wooded Sacred Sanctuary and private retreat. This A-Frame was built in the 1960's by Washington University and is partially finished yet still fun and funky. It is heated with a wood burning stove so you must be a wilderness camper to stay in cooler weather. The wood burning stove heats a portion of the large space. It sleeps 5, with 1 queen bed, 1 sofa sleeper and a couch. All linens are provided.  It is full of character and charm with wonderful spaces to hangout like the back deck that overlooks the private hillside and creek. The fire ring area in the front is a hang out space for our dogs too. It also in the warmer months has an old time hot tub. The kitchen area has a full sized fridge, microwave, toaster over, toaster, coffee and hot water pot as well as coffee and tea. There is a propane stove top. All dishes are provided, just bring paper products. Any number of our adorable animals will pop in and out of your outdoor space. We have 4 dogs that watch over The Magic Land and animals and you will hear barking at night. The A-Frame was once utilized as a meeting space when Washington University owned the property and even a church. You'll find an open floor plan with 2 living room areas with lots of seating for great conversations, a dinning area, books and games.  The property has lots of buildings to rehab and 2 that need to be taken down. One you will walk or drive past on your way, thanks for understanding progress takes time.

A Frame - Home Away From Home
A-Frame Funky Cabin in the Woods
What a wonderful homebase for a beautiful retreat away from the hussle and bussle of city life! I went in most excited for the indoor swing, which was as spectacular as expected, but everything else on the site was so comforting and it was so easy to feel at home. Hearing the roosters every morning was such a fun way to feel connected to nature as soon as the sun came up. If you're looking for true rest and relaxation, while being in the middle of tons of trails, river spots, and natural oasis' - this is your place! Laura was so helpful and accommodating of our needs, and easy to contact even with the low cell service (which was a wonderful way to 100% disconnect from it all). We can't wait to come back again someday, any spot on the Magic Land seems to be recipe for a great time. :)

Refreshing A-Frame Seclusion
A-Frame Funky Cabin in the Woods
It had all the sights and sounds of a homestead. Roosters, chickens, ducks and dogs greeted us in the mornings. The A-Frame was very comfortable, cozy, and eclectic. We had everything we needed for a long weekend. Laura Lynne is a very thoughtful host, and everything we could have needed was present, clearly labeled, and had instructions on how to use it in case you're unfamiliar. Though we did not need any of these items, the A-Frame had a good first aid kit, supplies in case of a power outage, and a box full of commonly forgotten item. As someone who does education on substance abuse, I want to give Laura Lynne two big thumbs up on including Narcan with the first aid kit. Stocked shelves of books and games were an unexpected and fun bonus! You can do as much or as little as you want to here. While we heard other people, the sight lines from the A-Frame were very carefully guarded and we were able to feel like we were alone on our little bit of creation. It was very restful. Make sure you walk down and check out the beautiful creek.

A truly Magical Land
A-Frame Funky Cabin in the Woods
Laura Lynne stocks her A Frame with all the essentials so you don't have to worry about them and she even sends you a comprehensive guide ahead of time so you know exactly what to expect. However, the true standout of the Magic Land is of course the land itself. Want an entire charming, tiny lake to yourself with a provided kayak for a peaceful experience? Want to soak under the stars in a tub heated by your own campfire? These are just a few parts of what make the Magic Land so magical. It's rare to get this much nature completely to yourself, but you can get it. Will absolutely be recommending to others.

We had such a beautiful time! Laura Lynn was so accommodating, even taking time to talk with me out mindful living. The goats are the sweetest, and we had such fun with the dogs! The chickens, turkeys, and ducks were always polite visitors. We will definitely be returning!

Wonderful! A frame was ready for us with the ac running fresh water in the stock tank and ice in the fridge. A great weekend and will be back for sure.

I cant express enough how great this weekend was. Miss Laura Lynn was amazing and helpful and made the best down home breakfast ive had in many moons!! Loved getting to know all the doggos and and other animals! It was a beautiful experience and really is Magic Land. Most definitely a weekend that ill never forget.

A-Frame Funky Cabin in the Woods
We stayed here recently, at the end of a nature escape trip. Being a longer trip, we decided to go the cozy route and booked the A-frame. Laura was a fantastic host, providing all of the comforts of home. After weeks in a tent, having access to seats, a refrigerator, filtered water, toaster ovens/microwave/grill felt like a 5 star hotel to me. The property is huge! I was given a tour, and got a better idea of whats going on. A creek runs through the whole property (due to rain, it was a river while we were there), the forest and grasses were lush, there was even a natural spring on site. I didn't stay at the campsite, but did check it out. Laura Lynne set up a curtain for bathroom privacy, provided hand sanitizer, chairs, and a hammock. On top of that, the ground was relatively flat. Also on site is a "tree house". I say that in quotes because I picture a tree house being the few boards we'd throw up in trees as a kid - not the full on 2 story home they lovingly built in the trees. Definitely future home goals. Besides staying for the retreat, I'd recommend The Magic Land to anyone who's new to camping, or looking to get outdoors one toe at a time.

Beautiful sight even though it was extremely muddy the host put down a tarp for me however all through the night you can hear road noise neighbor shooting guns and dogs howling just wish it was little more peaceful otherwise she was great
